  1. Not sure. Info I can see says it needs 70 degrees or higher.
  2. I am trying to understand if there's a few key factors that is a trigger for them to thrive. I don't want to stress them out, I want them to actually do very well. My shrimp are not stressed at all. The tank I have is a 29G, I would swap it with a 20L pretty easily, but the 29G is just what I happen to have. Filtration is sponges, x2, and I am running an airstone as a pressure relief on the pump in the middle of the tank. Hardscape is mopani and dragonstone, epiphyte plants, sand substrate, and moss. Oh it's definitely a higher quality setup than what I have right now. I was just mentioning it as an example of the information we use regularly for shrimp as opposed to what we see in real life constantly (and in nature). George's tank very likely has few shrimp and it looks like they are adults though.
  3. ORD, I was actually learning about humminbirds yesterday. There's one that has an iridescent throat, crazy to see. They mentioned in the video that hummingbirds are one of the few that can see red, that's where the whole food dye thing came from. I wonder if the difference between the feeders was just light and the shade of red.
  4. I went ahead and adjusted things a bit about 2-3 weeks back on the tank. I ended up changing a few things and so it's all about checking in and keeping track. So.... let's see it everyone, show off your plants and share that new growth!
  5. There's a movie on Netflix called the dig. Maybe he's a future paleontologist! Very cool. 🙂
  6. Plants I'm basically dying to try out..... 1. Bucephelandra Kedegang 2. Hygrophila Pinnatifida UK version 3. "Other" hygro/staurogyne species like coryambosa compact 4. I've never had a crypt before but I saw one in a George video in his fern setup and the color was really cool. I'd like to try one. Same thing with something kelp-like like anachris or crinums 5. I think I can swing it in the 75 maybe... But it's a toss up between red mosaic plant or salvinia. (Not both). I would also add something like a lotus here. 6. Ludwigia. I need to learn more about stems and what species do well. 7. Tissue culture of AR Mini and AR roservang. I am not sure I can get either to grow, but it's on the list for sure. 8. Pogostemon species that don't get insane like PSO does. Erectus is the go-to I think. 9. Back to learning stems. Ludwigia, never kept any of them. Maybe a super red one. 10. Rotala, same thing, I want to learn. Maybe rotala rotundafolia ....and some pearlweed!
  7. This is a fun one, might be useful too. I can also see how having a rubber mat to insulate between the glass and the stand would help as well. The little pots you have for the plants. Are those filled with sand or what media? (Sidenote: I'ma need to hear the tale of whoever discovered that T-Rex! 🙂 )
  8. Might be interesting to try some moss or something like bolbitis heteroclita that is supposed to be non-aquatic. Some say it is some say it isn't, but a fern at the top... Even hygrophila pinnatifida might be awesome. Props for the unique idea. Maybe there's a way to even have small critters in there to feed the fish.
  9. Something like the mini nerites might do great too for you. They don't breed in freshwater but you will see little egg casings on hardscape.
  10. So I did some reading for the science... 1. Might just live too long for most hobbyists, but seem great. 2. Might not be great at eating algae, but look great. 3. Seem like a good balance, might not be the most visually pleasing, but seem ok. The one concern is size and how big they get. It might be difficult for them to navigate certain hardscape. 4. "mini" and the history of "mini" in your tanks makes me very concerned!!!! 😂 I think this is the choice though. The balance of everything, and hopefully a bit better time navigating around the tank. For #4, what size are they when born? Are they much bigger than the other mini's? Edit: max size looks like 1" vs. 4" but how small is mini is the only concern.
  11. Give us your top 5 (or 10) plants that you've never tried before! One of mine... Ludwigia Repens
  12. This video gives a bit of context on use.
  13. I heard something about plecos and I've seen snails go to town on swords. Given the holes, maybe there's more to the story? Let us know how things improve in future with the potassium dosing.
  14. Late to the party, but I wanted to say welcome back to the hobby. You did awesome with the island style setup and I'm excited to see things progress! How did the dwarf sag do for you? How are the plants doing?
  15. Might actually be big enough for a full size sword. Very cool given the space all the things you can do with plant selection.
  16. The only thing that would be left is air stuck in there somewhere restricting flow, but that's generally easy to hear. If all that is in check then you may need to replace the impeller or the pump. I would go ahead and contact fluval.
  17. It's a small chance, but is the input valves, both valves completely opened?
  18. Check the tubes are not kinked. Make sure the media is cleaned inside.
  19. This should be done just about every time you open the canister or see flow deteriorate.
  20. Getting plants to pearl.... like once. Maybe a few times. 🙂
  21. noise and vibration being the big concern at that point, yeah.
  22. They should just add it to vudu or something.... 🙂 Give people access to it, money goes to the club, etc.
