  1. Thank you Here’s three of the four.
  2. I haven’t had much news until now. All the snails in the QT perished. Right now it is serving as a plant nursery. The four snails in the 20L are doing fine, even laying clutches on the glass lid. This leads me to a question. Overnight some white balls appeared in one place (see photo). Later I realized someone had laid a clutch directly above this. Any ideas? The WCMM is mainly for size perspective. When I looked at the photos, it looks like there is a transparent casing around each of them.
  3. I bought two Kasa WiFi timers and they worked great, until I disconnected my internet… now I have a basic timer with two plug-ins. It works fine.
  4. I’ve done all I can. I took out all the snails from the QT, then vacuumed the gravel and replaced the water. There were about 20 small snails - about 10 were died. Still no movement in the others. Four in the 20 gal are doing fine - the last one I put in yesterday was floating this morning so I put it back in the QT. My kH test on the 20 gal still came out an odd color, so I put a Wondershell in both tanks. I had hoped the crushed coral I put in the substrate would keep the calcium levels in the water at a good place. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  5. I have started testing the snails. If I gently pull on the Operculum, and the body comes out of the shell, I assume that snail is dead, right?
  6. No. I thought they would recover quicker. I’ll do another 1/3 water change tomorrow.
  7. Well, I did a 30% water change on the QT tank. By the way the snails look, I would swear they are dead, but the ones I pick out don’t smell. I have mom and dad snail and two offspring in my 20, which is sitting right beside the QT. They are doing fine. Mom, dad and one baby were in the QT and when things started looking weird I pulled them out. Last night I was poking at one of the snails in the QT… it looked like it moved. I put it in the 20. It is laying half hanging out but it still responds to stimulus. It’s like it is in a stupor. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I found an internet article saying that at about 70 degrees F or cooler, Mystery Snails can go into a state called torpor. I’m guessing that’s what happened. Live and learn.
  8. I hope my KH is good - I use Wondershell and recently dropped in a mesh bag half full of crushed coral to hopefully slowly eliminate the need to buy Wondershell. Thank you for the video. I will watch it now.
  9. My water tests look good so I’m going to wait on the water change. I thought about what you said about temps. My 20 gallon is just under 72, but my 10 gallon is at 70, which I understand is the lower edge of comfort for my snails. I put a heater in the 10. I set it at 74 degrees F. Is that what you guys use? 20 gallon: 10 gallon:
  10. I just learned something about that. It was my intention to keep an unheated tank - if I had known Mystery snails needed warmer temps I wouldn’t have bought them. I researched, but every source has a different temperature range.
  11. It was my intention to take the young snails to the closest fish store (Detroit Lakes, MN) before now, but it is roughly 50 miles away and the weather turned to normal winter weather! The roads are clear now, but this past Sunday was the first day above zero in awhile. I have test strips for ammonia only, but I don’t have any liquid testing kits. My quarantine tank is 10 gallons. I’ll change water again today, and go from there. Thank you, everyone, for your help.
  12. I feed them canned green beans and they climb on them and nibble. I also give them an algae wafer occasionally. Recently I made Snello with Repashy and ground calcium. I used a glass dish to hold it along with the Hikari Crab Cuisine. I wanted to know it was being eaten - not rotting. I saw the snails crawl in to eat, and I think I saw a variety over two days. It was when the food was gone that they started acting different. Maybe they are getting ready for a growth spurt. That would be awesome. My filter is a sponge one, but I added an air stone to the tank.
  13. Thank you. So strange… temperature-wise, this is the same since they were born. The filter is a sponge filter. I have seen three start to wake up and then go back to sleep. I’ll test my water again. I’ve had one of the offspring in my 20 for some time. When I started to panic, I took the two parents and that last baby that was still active at that time. They are acting normal.
