  1. I have American Flagfish (Cyprinodon floridae).
  2. These two illustrations are from the article, Propagating Propaganda: Franklin Barrett’s Red, White, and Blue Liberty Bond Carp, published by PublicDomainReview.org.
  3. It is interesting that Igor has decided the hoop has an entrance and an exit. On the second try, he overshoots the entrance and rather than swim back through the "wrong" way, he circles around to go through the entrance. Same with his two loops. Rather than just swim back the way he came, he makes a circuit. Super cool trick. Congrats! 👏
  4. This is awesome! 🤩 I love how the first time, Igor nudges your fingers like, "Hey! You! Where's my food?" By the end of the video, he sees the hoop coming toward the water and moves into the ready position. What a smart fish!
  5. It is my impression that Otocinclus have been hard to find for some time now. I believe the pandemic has severely impacted suppliers. So if you find some, make sure they are healthy! 😎
  6. Bravo @Mikeo! Aquarium accessories can be ridiculously expensive. Your solution is practical and elegant. 3D printers are truly amazing, aren't they? 🤩 OK, I gotta do it...
  7. ORD 💜 I think you are correct. It was a l-o-n-g time ago, but I seem to recall they need high flow, super-clean water, high oxygenation, gravel substrate, and live food. Also, the males become very territorial during breeding season, so you cannot keep more than male in the tank.
  8. ORD 💜 What a bunch of cuties! 18 years old. Wow, that is impressive for a snake! In my backyard, there is a resident Mama garter snake who pops out a slew of little shoelaces every spring. They like to bask next to the south-facing wall of my house. I have to watch out so I don't accidently step on them. One time, one of the juveniles managed to navigate through the crawlspace and find its way into my house. I walked into the kitchen one morning and did a double-take. Uh, is that a snake's head poking out from under my dishwasher? 😆 Fortunately, I was able to grab it and take it back outside.
  9. @Daniel Love the sunfish! 🐟 Decades ago, Carolina Biological used to sell Three-Spined Sticklebacks, the N.A. fish that builds a little nest to house their eggs. I wish I had tried to start a colony of them. I believe now, they may be listed as endangered.
  10. @AngelfishloverThat is a snake mansion! Lucky reptile! 🐍
  11. @Streetwise I visited Vermont once, long ago, in early spring. I was struck with how beautiful the countryside was. You lucky guy!
  12. I keep forgetting to ask→ Have you thought of testing Hugo's tank water? I managed to narrowly avert Snailageddon (one casualty) with water testing and 50% water changes every 12 hours for two days—4 changes total. The new water was carbon filtered and treated with Seachem Prime. Then, warmed to 77-78 degrees with boiling water (old school). Sometimes, the simplest solutions work the best. 😎
  13. Congrats on the (sort of) new toy! These photos are amazing @Hobbitand @Aubrey. Thanks for sharing them! 🤩
  14. Oh brother, now you have me Jonesing for some Riccia. 😆
  15. Haha, I was just wondering the same thing! 🙃 Inquiring minds want to know.
