  1. The other 50% was changed out Monday. I planted some ludwigia this morning in his tank (while he was attacking my hand.. 🙄) but came home later to find a bubble nest! Recovered AND happy! Win win
  2. He’s had it at the surface before but the difference was I didn’t have the airspace in it then. Apparently he is showing appreciation for that.
  3. Thanks! Your research failed to inform me of how to deal with all the cuteness though. They are so little.. and busy! Always doing stuff (like your cories).
  4. @Minanora sorry about the crawl space and the plumbing and bleach bombing, the landslides and everything else. I can’t even imagine. You’re such a trooper. So glad your tanks are doing well. Hope you get to work on the she shed soon. Taking a moment to THANK YOU also for your shrimp advice. I followed your suggestions and @nabokovfan87 also appointed himself “head shrimp info researcher” 🥸 and look what we have here. (There are 3 in the photo… look closely, can you find the pipsqueak?) So 2 shrimp litters so far and a female is berried now too 🦐❤️
  5. Ok that little sentence at the bottom is saying you need to use this WITH a separate water conditioner (dechlorinator). I am so sorry, I thought what you were dosing yesterday was the dechlorinator. The product you have adds bacteria to the tank, but it does not remove chlorine.
  6. Zoomed Also options on etsy for swim throughs. Ie: natural coconut hut with a few larger swim holes drilled and suction cups so it’s on side of tank
  7. It smelled like chemicals when it got wet so I threw it away You can bend it over the rim, if you have an area where no lid.
  8. I recommended changing water to reduce that ammonia, as the snail is ill, and I believe ammonia to be the cause. I agree with this. I would avoid pH up and pH down products because every time you change water you have to accurately dose them or they can cause more harm. @Helpwithmy_snailpls what is the name of the dechlorinator you are using?
  9. Literally just a piece of pvc pipe. I used fishing line and scotch tape to keep it up high (pvc sinks). The fishing line that is inside the pipe is above the water. @Guppysnail
  10. Think RR would have worked for that zebra mussel issue that happened awhile back? I mean, the whole tank would have had to be RR. Thoughts?
  11. Moved some ludwigia (which always seems to be uprooted and floating) into the betta tank to give the fellow a little more decor. Gave root tabs to the sword, lily and crypt. P.S. Came home later and found out the betta had made a bubble nest so I think he’s happy about the ludwigia.
  12. I would recommend Java fern. You don’t actually put it into the gravel. The roots stay out and feed from the water and it is a nice full plant that will really add some beauty to your tank quickly. And the snail will help clean the leaves but it will not eat the leaves unless the leaves are dying. It is really cute to watch snails clean plants. Also a great thing about plants- they use the ammonia! Which means less water changes for you. 🙂 But still do your water tests just in case. Aquarium Co Op sells Java Fern but if you are shopping with your allowance at a chain store, look for a shelf that has live Plants in clear tubes. The Java fern should be there. Also don’t get any new fish right now. We want to make sure the ammonia stays at zero every day first. You should go into the disease section of this forum and create a topic about the betta, and put a picture of him along with the results of your water tests.
  13. Not very well! It kind of is like pulling cotton candy. ☹️ So folks, today was brine shrimp day which is always a big hit with Snoopy! She will push through that pack of tetras for her tasty noms! Here she is after her banquet.
  14. My snails don’t like lettuce. I give them other (boiled) vegetables but they are able to eat zucchini, squash or cucumber raw. If you boil it a little it’s easier for them to chew. They love veggies. In my signature line below is a snail care sheet which has the foods they like. Also calcium is very important for their shell.
  15. Here’s another article I found that is helpful. What size is your tank? Click here
  16. Be careful your heater is not plugged in when you are changing water. If it gets exposed to air it can crack.
  17. He is trying to get used to his new environment. I am glad he is thinking about coming out. He probably likes the water change. Some plants (real or fake) may help him feel more comfortable and secure because it looks like your tank is in a kitchen where there might be a lot of activity.
