I biked to the LFS today, and its so beautiful out. 36Celsuis or 96Farenheit. I was in look for some platys but they didnt have any in stock. But I got this super small angel instead. I also got a crinum and a fluval mounting kit for the fluval 3.0 nano thats coming.

He had lots of personality at the store, so hopefully he warms up to me soon. Place your name suggestions here.

He'll be growing out in my 10 gallon until he is big enough for the 40 breeder. I'm going to fatten him up with a bunch of frozen blood worms.

It's Friday so everyone gets a healthy serving of treats! Yay! My red cherry shrimp get a pinch of Krill flakes (after I discovered they like them yet my betta barely touches them lol.) And two sticks of Crab Cuisine. Plus my betta gets some freeze dried brine shrimp. He injured his eye (somehow after I leave for the day and don't change anything in the tank.) However he's healing well, and eats a disturbing amount (as usual lol)105243398_ScreenShot2021-06-04at5_52_33PM.png.d43267942d8673697d7491c3c004dfee.png528735816_ScreenShot2021-06-04at5_52_48PM.png.28f7b9001e436fc2707bf4f95ab96006.png

This morning I moved the remaining guppy fry from the quarantine tank to the 20L, since mama has had a few new fry in the 20L already, then broke down and cleaned the quarantine tank and equipment. It's also supposed to be water change day in the 45 but I'm too exhausted so will do that tomorrow. I know the 45 can go a few extra days without a water change. I absolutely cannot get any more fish right now as 1) too many fry! and 2) I have to start thinking about the very real possibility I will have to downsize to one small tank next year, or at least start over.20210605_113757.jpg.c953bfb83e9ef827ffc902f61f32a544.jpg

Which pushed me to finally get rid of most of the eco-complete in the 75. wow what a chore.

took out almost all the rock work and substrate with fish and shrimp in there. Removed the glolight danios at night after all the hardscape was out. Much easier to catch, especially when they are groggy. Now there's more open swimming room, much easier to plant and the shrimp love it.

Planted my delivery from Aquarium Co-op which arrived yesterday today. !8 different plants in my 2 20 gallon tanks.  No, i didn't leave yesterdays delivery in the box, placed the plants in their respective tanks. Added live bacteria, root tabs and Easy Green to the tanks to start the fishless cycle.  Tanks are a bit cloudy right now, so no pictures.

Flooded my dry-start yesterday. I didn't wait until everything spread extensively. I really just wanted to get the plants rooted and growing. This is going to be a betta tank. It's a Landen 7.1 gallon, seasoned filter, CO2, ADA soil, seryu stone.
After one night, have no ammonia, 0.1 ppm nitrite, 10 ppm nitrate. Will change water every day for a week. Every other for a week, then weekly if all is good. The CO2 level is intentionally a little bit "too high" for a while to help the plants transition.

Plants:
Dwarf hair grass (Eleocharis belem)
Mini Pellia / Coral moss (Riccardia chamedryfolia)
Phoenix Moss (Fissidens fontanus)
Alternanthera Reineckii Mini
Downoi (Pogostemon Helferi)
Shoreweed (Littorella Uniflora)
Bucephalandra Red Mini

It took awhile - would this qualify as my hour?- but was worth it. Main display is in the “red” (if you own an api master kit you know what I’m talking about) so after kiddos go to bed it’ll get a water change. Was surprised to find that my Flex 15 I moved last weekend is already fully cycled despite a full rescape but I suppose all that seasoned media and hardscape helped.
Ordered fish last night - guppies, Halfbeaks, blue eyed rainbow and variatus platys.
Topped off all the water in my ponds, temps fell this week but the ponds have stayed in the 50s hoping to not have to throw heaters in but have them if I need them.

I have been a Track & Field mom for a number of weeks.  Today found some great pictures of my sons in the online news sites.  The fish have been getting fed and some have gotten water changes and no one is sick or dying.😅. Just lost most of the hornwort in my spiny eel tank.  I have missed talking to everyone but my boys are seniors and they missed a season due to COVID shutdown.  It has been great to watch them enjoying their sport!

Can I share some proud mama pictures?

What did you decide to do with your cichlids?  Lovely tank by the way!

One of our LFS owners was interested in tanking them all. He was shocked how big they were. The Auratus scare him though 😂

Today was more of a "feed and watch" kind of day. I edited a video, which had it's own frustrations.

I realized that I've had my dwarf puffer for going on 8-9 months and I've only ever done 2-3 water changes on his tank. Nitrates are always below 20, and I dose a bit of Easy Green every couple weeks. I just let the plants take care of it. I mean, with Pothos roots like these, who even needs water changes?

There's a couple of Otocinclus in here that I never see - they hang out in the forest. They're fat, though! There's a couple ghost shrimp left, too. The puffer doesn't bother them.

Car transportation of fish stuff today. Transitions are “funstrating” . . . part fun, part not...

Moved wood out of a tank we set up in a school that is shutting down now for summer.

And caught the final red zebra Mbuna that survived in our tank. Took it to the same LFS owner who took our others.

Started resetting African Cichlid tank for eventual Electric Blue Acara grow out.

This has got to be one of the most awkward scapes I’ve ever tried. Had to keep the huge limestone piece in there (Texas holey rock). Also needed to rescue some wood from a different tank tear down.

804BB40C-34A7-4037-A214-F715CA2F04A5.jpeg.466e4e32074c16bcedde4f9b8bd03b8b.jpeg

Java ferns recycled from another tank. Floating 5x Rooibos tea bags to add tannins (upper right breeder basket). Dropped in half a dozen dwarf aquarium lily bulbs. Several  servings of Java moss to promote micro life. It’s strange... but will have to do. In 4 months, hopefully loaded with electric blue Acaras, it will be a sight...

Today I brought 8 young firecracker guppies to the LFS - donation only! Kevin said they were gorgeous! But it's all good, sorta, because I've decided now is the time to put my house on the market and rehome my fish and tanks.  I already have a LFC member taking everything - fish, shrimp, plants, tanks, equipment, decor - except for Cosmo and his tank. My neighbor put his house on the market just a few days ago, and it is already pending sale well above asking price. I was going to wait until next spring but have decided to see if i can sell mine now. I have very mixed feelings about this whole thing. Devastation of having to get rid of these tanks I've put so much time and money(!!!) into, but relief that the fish I have fallen in love with will have a home, and I am free to move on a moment's notice when the house sells. I might be able to start over again in my new home if there's room, but will at least have my precious Cosmo. 💔💔
