  1. Afternoon fellow nerms. Hope all is well. Some fun here at teejays fishy adventures. My fish club friend brought my redtail split fin goodeids this morning!. They held them in there fish room for a couple of days until I had there tank finished. I have a group of 11 for this breeding adventure. I'm pretty sure I have 1male and 10 females. So I shouldn't have a problem getting some fry. The one girl is huge! She is full grown and the male has to be really close to full grown. The other 9 are of varying sizes. I'm including a little video. You can tell the male buy the very red tail. As always keep it fishy my friends. https://youtu.be/DMSg8xjvWkY?feature=shared
  2. Oh yes once I get a pic of them in the tank and settled I'll register them. 😁
  3. Got the new 20 long live bearer tank setup last night. I still need to add a few more floating plants. The first love bearers I'm going to start with is xenotoca doadrioi or thr san Marcos live bearer. I was able to pick up a couple bags of these at my clubs fish auction on Sunday. A club friend is holding them for me until my day off tomorrow. I'm going to put one of the pro 125 hobs off on the 29 on there tank so I have a cycled filter. As well I'll swap out one of the seeded sponge filters in the 29 to put in there as well. I'll move the 207 over to the 29 and we should be in good shape. I'm starting with a group of 11 fish of varying sizes so it will be a good adventure. As always keep it fishy my friends. As well I can't forget my partner in crime @Guppysnail for recommending these guys.
  4. Not the new 20 long tank ready for my dwarf emerald danios and pygmy corys. I call it the anubias garden.
  5. Was a good day at the auction today. I picked up a total of 4 medium to large anubias plants. A nice java fern. A bag of susswasertang and a small piece of mopani wood. Spent 40 bucks today so I think I did very good. When I got home I put the plants thru the for a couple of hours before putting them in the new 20 for the danios and pygmy's. I pulled the tidal 55 off of there tank and put it on the new tank. As well I added a nano and large sponge filters. The 55 should help sees those new filters to keep the new tank going well. When I finished that I got the danios and pygmys out of there 10' gallon and put them in there new home. It was a solid day. There new tank got a new heater and inkbird to go with it.
  6. So tonight old TeeJay and his buddy Chuck got the second new tank stand in place and got the new air pump and loop system going tonight. Yes I have waaayyyy more air than I need so we just ran some 2ft lengths of air line off of extra taps in the loop to help lessen the pressure and keep the system flowing right without being to noisy. I will be putting more lines to use because I plan on running dual sponges in each tank so it will be nice to have extra air any time I need. It's coming along nicely. Next I need to get the danios and pygmy tank ready and moved over to there new home.. I got some new heaters and inkbirds for the tanks as well. I want to get that tank ready so it will be good to go for the extra danios I'm getting for @Guppysnail.. since TeeJay is too slow at breeding them. This way I will have good room for them until we get food shipping weather to send them out. The top tank in the left stand is what will be that new tank. The tank below it is the cpd aspidoras tank. Then the right shelve system will be the killifish tank and then a fourth 20 will be added to make a new project tank. I'm going to set it up a a livebearer tank to start working on breeding 5 different species of live bearer for my bap award. I'll do one species of fish at a time for this. Ok it's bedtime. Gotta get some sleep for the fish auction tomorrow. Not looking for fish but I hope to get some plants and maybe a light or two. As always keep it fishy my friends.
  7. The Amazon and chewy vans made some deliveries to TeeJay today. I got a couple of new heaters one of the nicrew light timers for the 29 gallon. I have been wanting to try one of these for awhile now. I will get it programmed tomorrow to see how it does. As well a new hose for the 207 since it's going to be going into the 29 gallon. A couple pieces of spider wood and 40 pounds of dried coral. My goal is by using the dried coral as to k work in the tanks I won't need to mix cc into the sand substrate for the kh buffer anymore. I got 4 really big chucks if it in the box. I'm going to break it down a bit to make some med size pieces to stack together. The chewy van will be back tomorrow with the 40 pounds of jungle river sand and some smaller pieces of spider wood. I sealed one of the new stands this evening so it will be hopefully nice and dry for tomorrow so I can start more moving of tanks.
  8. It's about a 50/50 on solid restarts after a outrage. If you have more outages that "usual" maybe go with the penguin pro 125. I usually don't run them with the included bio wheel.. you can turn the flow down as low as you can. And if that is still not enough you can stuff a piece of filter sponge into the outlet and that will dampen it all the way down.
  9. Yeah for a hob with the pump inside the tank you are pretty limited to the tidal or a marineland penguin pro 125. The 125 may be a bit of overkill but does have a fairly good flow adjustment to it. I use those on my 20 longs. And are pretty dang quite and 30 bucks on Amazon. Now if your willing to go pump out of the tank the aquatop Forza series is very quiet as well and they come in like 3-4 sizes. I believe they are around 20-25 for the size you want for a 10 gallon. But if it's heavy planted you could most likely get away with the 5 gallon size. I run coop pre filter sponges on both all of them.
  10. Caught a sale this morning on tanks at pet supplies plus....so I'm picking up 2 20 longs and one lid because they only had one lid in stock for the new upgrades. It's starting to come together. It will still take me a few weeks before I have everything ready to go. But as Johnny cash said "I got it one piece at a time" oh and for 2 tanks and one lid. 60 bucks woot woot!
  11. Now I'm going to have to give this a try. My fish as well do not like to take them off the glass. And no matter how long I pre soak them they will not sink like this.
  12. Yes they are going to have extra supports before they get upgraded too 20 long tanks that will basically double the weight on each shelf. We also used deck screws that have a shear weight of 2000 pounds per screw with 3 screws in each corner. But yes they will get extra support before the larger tanks that I will be getting in a few weeks.
  13. You know that would be a great way to use crushed coral for helping to buffer kh. I have to keep it on all of my tanks. I'm not a big fan of keeping it in my hobs. So I keep it mixed with the gravel. But I'm working on switching over my tanks to jungle river sand. But when I mix the cc with it, it takes away from the visual aesthetics of the sand. But with something like this I could just fill it with the cc and it would keep a constant flow of water over it to dissolve. I would think anyways. Keep me updated on how this works. If it does well you might just have to prime some of those boxes for me👍
  14. This is the piece @nabokovfan87 was talking about. It dose have some darker areas.but all I did for any of my dragonstone was soak and rinse them to get any dust or loose pieces off them added to the tank. This piece was in a tank for 6 months before I tore it down yesterday and nothing else ever came off of it. So I wouldn't think and of that would hurt the tank. But I'm not a rock scientist either lol
  15. Yes I only have 3 or 4 pieces. I have never encountered something like that on the ones I have.. so I'm not quite sure about it
  16. Ah yes that was the dragonstone mountain that was in the shrimp sanctuary tank. It was tore down today and all of the shrimp went into the 29 gallon. The mountain will be resurrected in either the new 20 for the danios or new 20 for the killifish.
  17. Well been at it since 6 am getting some work done. I was able to get the 2 10 gallons that are staying set up for now over to one of the new stands and in place. I wanted to get them sealed before putting them into place. But as I love in an apartment I'm limited on space. I'll get the second one sealed before it goes into place then I can sit the 2 10 gallons on it with the 20 long while I get the second one sealed. I didn't want to double move tanks but sometimes it's the only option. Hopefully I am get a day soon that will hit 50 degrees because I will need to seal them outside. But it's starting to 🫴 me together. I need to order a new hose for the 207 so it can be moved into the 29 from the 20 long.
  18. The new tank stands are built and at home now. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get one put in place. We will see how the day goes.
