  1. Man down! Man down! This is not a drill. The wood broke free from the slate rock. Guess tonight after work I'll have to silicone them together. The super glue cracked under the pressure. 😱😆
  2. Just made a little video of the danios and pygmys swimming back and forth together. Can't believe how chunky they pygmys are. For coming from a fish wholesaler and only having them for 5 days they look good. https://youtu.be/4IlWWfcb2iU?si=bIS9KvvtzEQsiUOa
  3. Anubias nano or gold coin. I can't remember for sure cryps and anubias are pretty much all I have in my tanks besides hornwort and guppy grass. I do great with all anubias except bartieri. I can never seem to keep those alive
  4. First day off this week. But that's only a day off from work. Still many other things need to be done. 2 loads of laundry done so check that off. Now for the fun part of the day off tank maintenance. Water changes and gravel vac done on the 20 long. 10 shrimp tank and 10 guppy tank. As I was watching the danios and pygmy corys I noticed them mostly just swam back and forth along the back wall of the tank so I did a little adjust of some hardscape and gave myself a better view in the middle of the tank so I can watch them better. I hope this will encourage them to come out to the front more. Since I moved the pygmys over to there permanent home they seem to be doing much better. I figured I had a better shot of them making it in a more established tank. So I still have 5. They have jumped right into swimming with the emerald danios and sometimes breaking off in to a group by themselves. I know ammonia poisoning can still show up some days later but so far they are looking good. If they can make it thru the next week we should be in the clear.
  5. So this is where my next line of pygmy genetics will come from 😆
  6. Yes it starts off very easy.them you see this fish and that fish. Then find out you cant put fish A with fish b. So then it's another new tank. So on and so forth. Then you end up with a dinning room full of tanks 😆. Good choices so far. Welcome to the forum and keep it fish my friend.
  7. Yes a lot of those I got from @Guppysnail. They have been producing some fun colors and patterns.
  8. Well not the fun posts that I like to make but you can't have the good without some bad. I just found one of my new pygmy corys dead 😔. Checked the water and I had an ammonia spike. So I figured they would have a better chance of making it by getting them into the 10 gallon with the danios since is way more established. I'm not to concerned about disease so I just got them in now. I have noticed just in the few mins of getting them into that tank they are swimming around more mid water. Way better "typical" pygmy behavior. Hopefully that's the only one I loose. I know these guys take it really hard being shipped as well. I should have got 10 instead of 6 for this reason. But this is how we learn sometimes.
  9. Not much to report in today so here are a few pics of the pygmy corys and one of the 3 pleco babies left. This one is a longfin 😍
  10. Yes I have a gh of like 15 so that's usually never an issue with neo shrimp. More minerals the better imo. Soon it will finish it's molt and hopefully soon start carrying eggs for future shrimplettes.
  11. After may failed attempts I finally got a few picks of the emerald danios. I'm thinking the males have the brighter color and the females are a little less bright. If my assumption is correct I think I have 2 male 4 female. That would be perfect.
  12. Yes we all know it's an addiction. It's just seems like I have way more but it's really only 2 more than before. The guppy tank and the 5 gallon permanent qt. Tank. I don't have a fish room persay. My dinning room doubles as a fish room. At least that's what I tell myself. It still has a dinning room table so it's not a lie 😆
  13. Yes you must be this tall and drink at least 3 cups of coffee a day to ride this ride....😆
  14. Good morning fellow nerms. A little cooler morning here in Ohio. Let's have some coffee shall we?! I figured this morning I would give a rundown of each of my tanks and what they are stocked with so everyone can be caught up with what I have. 1. 29 gallon. This is my "main" tank. This is the home to lemony and Luna my pair of lemon bristlenose plecos as well has 3 of there juvenile babys from there first spawn. Going to find homes for these guys soon. The other 8 that I had I took to my local fish store for credit. Also my gang of paley corys and least killifish call this tank home. I have never actively saw the paleys spawn but I know they have because I have had a few baby corys show up from time to time. That's they kind of breeding I like. The surprise ones. Rounding out this tank is a horde of neo shrimp and a few nerite snails. 2. 20 long. This is the home to my crew of cpds. Counting in at the odd number of 11. As well as the magnificent 7 group of aspidoras spilliotis. My single hillstream loach mochi and the one lemon pleco that I'm keeping from lemony and lunas first spawn. I'm pretty sure she is a female because she is thicc in the hips 😆. So I named her moonbeam. Rounding out this tank is my crew of wizard snails and the gang of blue jelly dream shrimp. 3. 10 gallon shrimp sanctuary. As the name of the tank says this is the home to my minions my red neo shrimp colony. I recently added a piece of dragonstone that looks like a mountain to one side of there tank and I'm really enjoying the look. I have only ever used slate before so this was a fun change. 4. 10 gallon number 2. This is the dwarf emerald rasbora tank. This was the former home of George Tammy and Crystal the trio of apistos borelli that @Guppysnail now has. And starting to breed. Within 2 weeks of getting them just like I told her they would 😆. And once they come out of at my new group of pygmy corys will join the emeralds in this tank as well. Rounding out this tank is a few piano snails and one again more tiny terrorists a mixed batch of neo shrimp. 5. 10gallon number 3. This is the home to my colony of blue galaxy guppys. Yes I have guppys once again. I blame my youngest daughter Hannah for this. She talked me into getting them at the last fish swap over the summer..... Finishing out this tank is my main breeding group of piano snails. 6. 5gallon "permanent" at tank. Right now this tank is home to my new 6 pack of pygmy corys. I figure they will be in here until the beginning of November if the continue to do as well as they are. But the permanent residence to this tank are a mixed group of neo shrimp and piano snails. The shrimp and snails will always stay in here to keep the tank well seasoned. That way any new fish I have coming in for new adventures can qt here before moving on to other tanks. I figure 5 gallons is sufficient for a qt since any fish I will most likely ever keep will be small and will do ok for there first 30 days with me. 7. 2.5 gallon. This tank is just mixed neo shrimp and devil I mean ramshorn snails. This is suppost to be my daughter's tank. But Dad takes care of it. Honestly it takes care of itself. It's very self sufficient. In all of my tanks except the 2.5 I run 2 types of filtration. Either sponges with hobs or canister with hob. I find this works best for me. That way with each water change or two I can rotate between what filter types need to be cleaned. That way I can keep good amounts of bb going. Well by now I'm sure your coffee is either finished or cold because you were so enthralled with this post. I will include a pic of each tank how it looks now. Hopefully I'm the order I listed them. As always keep it fishy my friends. Ps every tank is a jungle enter at your own risk!
  15. No no I'm at my limit right now..... technically one over. But the 2.5 is pretty much self sustainable so not much to maintain there. As well I live in an apartment so I have to be careful on how much I have going on. That's why I won't have a tank larger than a 29 gallon. Yes maybe someday I'll switch over the other tanks to the jungle river sand. Well mainly the 29. I do like the midnight pearl gravel that's in the 20 long and 10 guppy tank. If I were to change and the 29 would be first. But that seems like a huge undertaking in comparison to 5 and 10 gal tanks.
  16. It's going to be a fun tank once the pygmys gets thru qt and everyone can be together.
  17. Hello my fellow nerms. Who is ready for the first episode of the new coffee with TeeJay? It's been quite awhile so let's see if I still know how to do this. I'm sure in every post I won't be able to remember to talk about every tank but I'll always give you as much as I can. So as everyone has probably noticed my apisto borelli have made there new permanent home with @Guppysnail. So that left me with an open 10 gallon tank with a new adventure to be had! So a local friend from my fish club has been breeding dwarf emerald danios that I have always wanted to have. So I called him up and he had some ready for rehoming size. So he brought over a nice 6 pack of juveniles. I had them for a little over a week now and they have settled in very well so far.. of course they won't stay still for pics lol So I knew I would want another type of fish to go along with the new danios. So another fish I have always wanted to have is pygmy corys. So I figured they would be the great choice to pair with the danios. So from lemony and lunas first batch of babies I was able to take a group of 8 to trade in for store credit to get they pygmy corys. Those little guys actually just arrived yesterday.. since they were coming from a wholesaler I knew I would want/need to qt them away from the danios. So I sent them up in the 5 gallon piano snail and shrimp tank. Thankfully I just got the sand setup in that tank. It had been bare bottom since it's setup. The only thing in that tank are piano snails and shrimp. So safe for a "permanent" at tank I think. I don't figure I will ever keep fish to large that I wouldn't be able to qt in that size tank for a few weeks at a time with no issues. As well the substrate in the 10 gallon for the danios and pygmys has been switched over to the carib sea jungle river sand as well. So @nabokovfan87 I finally have sand! Ha! I know it will sound massive but I moved my modded tidal 55 onto there 10 gallon tank. Yes it will work I just used the first section of the uptake tube with a pre filter sponge out directly onto that. As well with the custom baffel I already had on it makes the perfect amount of surface agitation without being to stong. As well as a sponge filter. And if anyone knows me I always like to run 2 types of filtration on all my tanks. I was able to get a few pics of the new pygmy corys at least. So these are the two newest adventures I have been working on lately. I am up to 7 tanks now 😱 mts is alive and kicking. So thanks for tuning in for the first new addition to coffee with TeeJay! As always keep it fishy my friends.
  18. I thought waiting for fish to be delivered to me from you was nerve wracking. But that hails in comparison to actually shipping myself. But with all the materials you sent me and walked me thru it every step of the way made a huge difference. Having that bucket of fresh water heated up and matching good to there tank water made all the difference. I enjoyed them but as I watched them I knew they needed to be in a bigger setup than a 10 gallon. I'm sure it can be done by just straight breeders. But that's not me. I'm the oh hey look I got fry kinda "breeder" it's really amazing in just a couple of short weeks how they have done. I am so very happy they are with you. Maybe one day I'll setup a 20 long for some of there babies.
  19. I know it's been quite a long time since I have posted to any of my journals. I have been so wrapped up in fishy type stuff and things with the kiddos that I just got bogged down with life. As well as trying to keep up with so many journals was becoming a bit daunting. So I had my partner in crime @Guppysnail combined them all for me into one handy dandy journal. You can still see all of my adventures through the links in my signature and so on. There have been quite a few changes with tanks and fish. A little to much to get all in one post right now. So tune in tomorrow morning for the all new coffee with TeeJay. As always keep it fishy my friends and nerms.
