  1. Yeah I mean I'm leaning to black in color. Since my cabinet in the dinning room where they are going is black as well. I guess just whatever is the best all around durable at a fair price. You know I'm not asking for much lol. I just don't want to leave them plain 2x4s
  2. Right like acrylic enamel latex that "type" of paint lol
  3. Going to be building some tank stands in a couple of weeks. I plan to paint them black. Just wanted to see if there is a paint suited better for this application.
  4. Oh so you layed it around in a circle on its side more or less. Just trying to get a visual lol
  5. So just take like 5 or 6 pieces of let's say 4-5 inch hornwort. Wrap them in a plant weight and then set that of top of a fiod dish with gravel?
  6. All of my moss keeps dying of for spawning areas. I gotta come up with a different plan. I hope when they upgrade to the 20 long I can do something better to increase the odds.
  7. Made a little video of the emerald danios and pygmy corys this evening. Had to catch them out and about when I can. They don't do it often. https://youtube.com/watch?v=k4majIXnWzQ&feature=shared
  8. Morning nerms. Just some pics of my tanks for your Saturday morning. Keep it fishy my friends!
  9. Did a couple of water changes after I got home and something else. I was so tired of the tank strip light I had mounted on the wall for the emersed plants. It looked ok but tacky at the same time. Sooo I took it down and got a pendant style light and mounted it to the ceiling above the tank. As well took down the guppy road sign and hung up a picture a friend drew for me in it's place. Ok a side note not sure if I posted about it put the nerm that is helping me build the new tank stands will also be tanking my crew of paley corys to there fish room. I think lemony and Luna will appreciate having all of the tank floor space to themselves. As well I hope that will encourage them to breed more. But not to crazy 🤣. I'm posting 2 pics one with the guppy road sign still up and one with the picture. Tell me what you like more
  10. They definitely work well and sometimes to well. I have a 29 gal tank that had a horrible ramshorn infestation if you will. If course I would manually remove as many as possible on veggies. I was able to remove a good amount. But for every one that you see there are usually 20 more that you don't. So I added assassin's snails to help. Over 2 months time I added about 12-15 assassin's. And after about 6 months time they managed it very well. Now anytime I add veggies for my plecos I never see any ramshorns on the veggies. They have virtually eliminated them witch is awesome. Now in the other hand I have a 20 long as well that has ramshorns but not to the degree the previous tank did. Of course they did there job but once they took care of the rams they also took out my breeding group of wizard snails. Unfortunately I did not notice this until it was too late. I was doing a deep cleaning on this tank. And when I removed the hardscape to gravel vac I found all of the empty wizard snail shells So I think it can be a fue line especially if you have other snails in the tank that you do want to be there.
  11. Yes I own a few different brands and the all work well. But the do seem to loose some power after a few months. I will still keep them all charged as backups for whenever I may loose power. I'm not sure maybe because they have built in batteries that they don't have the same size diaphragms as the the ones without and maybe that's weakening how strong the air supply is coming out. Just a thought lol
  12. Once again TeeJay has fallen behind on his updates. Only 2 weeks tho this time. Just been planning on how the new stand(s) are going to go and tank layouts and such. Sunday I went over to a fellow nerms house to see there fish room. Been wanting to get over there for awhile now. It was fun to feel out and see all the fish and how there setups are. I e been studying on air pumps for a few days. Right now I run backup battery power pumps on all my tanks. While I like having the piece of mind of backup power I have definitely noticed they do seem to lack on powered after they are a few months old. I pulled out a couple of tetra whispers I had laying around to just to a comparison on flow. As I hooked up the tetra to each of the tanks there flow increases easily 20 to 40 percent. Sometimes even more So while brainstorming a out the upcoming tank stands and tak upgrades my fish friend showed me a extra pond pump he has that he never used and showed me how he setup taps to his tanks. He said why don't you do the same to the tanks in your dinning room. Since all of my tanks except the 29 are located there. Now I know it's major overkill for the amount of tanks I have but he is giving me a great price on the pump and will help me setup the lines so this is the way I'm going to go. We are going to build in looping PVC pipe along the side of the two tank stands we are building to drop the taps from. The. It will have a bleedoff valves on each stand if I need to relive pressure from the pump. I don't think I will need to bleedoff much since I will be running at least 12lines. As well this way in the future if I ever add more ranks or need extra air for extra air stones I have the capability to do so. Hopefully I will get to start the stand builds in about 4 to 5 weeks. I'm adding a pic of the air pump and the stands we will be building. As well as a few random pics. As always keep it fishy my friends.
  13. They are quickly becoming some of my fav fish. Very active and love to eat lol.
  14. One day I may take the time to start working on the bap program in my fish club as well. Just so much paperwork. Maybe I'll get one of my girls to do the paperwork and I'll get the plaques. 😆
  15. Does not say what it's made out of. Seems like it will be pretty tricky to seal...hmmm.
  16. What does everyone use to seal a price of decor? I have a friend that wants to seal a piece that is normally used in reptile tanks for her turtle tank.
  17. Killis gardenri could be a good choice. Cpds and honey gouramis are always fun to have around. . I have a tank setup with pygmy corys and dwarf emerald rasboras. Any of your smaller fish like this would work well in these 3 tanks. You could probably do a pair of apisto borelli in the 20 gallon. I feel these are some of the most docile in the cichlid world. The pic attached is of the killi gardneri.
  18. Grindals versus killis. Who do you take to win?! They have been getting a rotation of grindals frozen daphinia and frozen brine. With kens grow meal mixed in. If I can't get a spawn off of that food rotation I don't think I ever will lol https://youtu.be/3yU1tZE1pYc?si=GWG-7Jj6RsFPIpXv
  19. Happy New Year fellow nerms.. The new group of 5 pygmy corys are doing well in there new home. They are getting used to the other 3 pygmy's and everyone is starting to hang out together more. I did get the single apisto borelli juvenile out of there tank since noticing it. It's in the 5 gallon shrimp and snail tank for now until I find it a new home. It's still pretty small so I'm not to worried about it outgrowing the 5 gallon before I get it a forever home. The new killi gardneri are doing awesome as well. They are taking to the frozen daphinia and frozen garlic brine shrimp well. The cpds paleys honeys and apistos are enjoying the frozen foods as well. I think I will put them into my regular food rotation. Speaking of that I need to get a streamline rotation of foods established better. For there health as well as on my wallet 😆 I added the spawning mop into the killis tank a little over a week ago. I'm hoping I will find eggs soon so I can try and raise some new babies. I know at @Guppysnail is looking forward to receiving some of these. I check it every few days to hope to not have to many eaten in between check days. As far as my adventure plans for the New Year I have a few things in mind. My plan is to have a fellow fish club friend help me build a couple of 2x4 dual 20 long tank stands. This way I can upgrade the shrimp sanctuary the danio/pygmy tank and the killis tanks to 20 longs instead of 10gallok tanks by doing this I can streamline my dinning room to a more manageable and aesthetically appealing mini fish room. The goal is to have 4 20 longs total. The 29 and one 10 gallon wild type shrimp/snail/at tank. I hope to keep the bottom tanks on the new stands at least 12" off the floor for better viewing and water changes. Once this happens I plan to move the 207 canister filter over to the 29. Then run dual penguin pro 125s on the 4 20 long tanks. I personally like the pro 125s as the most versatile and all around hobs. I am also a fan of always running 2 types of filtration on all of my tanks. Yes I know I'm sure it's major overkill but this way I always have at least one filter that stays in place each water change while the other gets by weekly service. So all tanks also have 1-2 coop sponge filters on them as well. This all will not happen at once. I plan to upgrade each of the 3 10gallon tanks one at a time. Less stress and again easier on the wallet So as always keep it fishy my friends.
  20. When I was picking up the new group of pygmys I got some frozen daphnia and frozen garlic brine shrimp. Buy one get one 50 percent off so I figured it was worth a try. Tonight everyone has a daphinia dinner. Everyone went pretty crazy for it. Tomorrow night we will give the garlic brine shrimp a go.
  21. I myself have always had a hard time keeping barteri myself as well. All others do great for me. But all 3 times I have had barteri they wither away to nothing. Since all of my tanks are well seasoned now I decided to give them another try. Not saying that was the issue, just mentioned it as a side note. We shall see how this new one does in my shrimp sanctuary tank. It's only been a couple of weeks so not enough time yet to tell.
  22. Yes I think if you are going the apisto route the borelii would be a good choice. I had a trio my self that I sent to @Guppysnail. Very nice colors and I would say one of the most docile of the apistos.
