  1. Afternoon fellow nerms. Some exciting news in Teeajays fishy adventures. My lfs had some pygmy corys in stock! So a friend took me over and I picked up 5 more to go with the trio I already had. So now we have a free of 8. All nice and round and healthy. I just got them acclimated and into there new home. I can't wait to see how they all do together. I hope to get more natural behavior since they are a larger group now. 3 of the new ones are already swimming around mid water saying look at me look at me! As well I picked up some frozen daphinia to try out.
  2. So after taking those pics @Guppysnail noticed something. And I kind of noticed it but was having a hard time believing it. But before I shipped the apistos trio off to guppy they obviously had there first spawn that I was unaware of. And we have a sole survivor. I believe it's a female. Because the first thing she said to me was when did you get more apistos lol. So I fished it out and moved it over to the 5 gallon tank until I can find a forever home for it. I tell you what I have some pretty good ",luck" with not trying to breeding lol.
  3. Merry Christmas fellow nerms!. Not much news to report today. So here is a small photo dump of my wet friends on this Christmas day.
  4. Now in the danios and pygmy Cory tank I added the anubias coffefolia and a small bunch of the crypt parva in the center of the tank. I have never really planted in sand before so I'm curious to see if it makes much of a difference. In the new killi tank I added another anubias in the center of the tank. Not that you can see it and I putt the spawning mop in the back right corner. Again something I have never used before but curious to see if it makes a difference in getting eggs to survive.
  5. Afternoon fellow nerms. Been a busy week for TeeJay. But I finally had time to get the new plants from the Christmas party into there tanks and out of the bucket of water. First off I added the anubias barteri into the front left corner of the shrimp sanctuary. And planted the majority of the crypt parva, a new plant for me in the front center of the tank. We shall see how they do. Next in the 20 gallon long I planted the big pot of crypt wenditti in the front left of the slate cave. Hope it does well in here. I still need to get pics of the rest. But here is a start. As always keep it fishy my friends.
  6. Yes you can see how plump the belly is getting on the one. I might put in the spawning mop soon.
  7. I'm giving the barteri another try. The past 3 I've had I could never keep alive for longer than a couple of months. All other anubias I do great with. Hope this one does better
  8. I would say the fish club Christmas party was a awesome success. We had a great spread for dinner ...buffet of course 🤗. Then it was on to the raffle. So for big club meetings/party's in the spring summer and Christmas we do a round robin style raffle. Everyone brings and donates as many bags of fish, plants, wood fish food and equipment as you want. As a number is drawn you get to go up and pick any item you want. Once all numbers are drawn then go back in the pot for the next round until all items are gone So I walked away with 4 anubias plants 2 crypts, 50ft of air hose and a bag of red neos! So the shrimps went into the sanctuary tank to help spread the genes in there. Not sure where the new plants will gone they are in a bucket full of water for now
  9. Tonight is my fish clubs Christmas party. I hope to come home with something good! I'll report back if I hit it big!
  10. I use the hygger 24/7 submersible lights. They worked great in a tote tank I had setup for snail grow out tank. They are the 12 inch model. And put out a ton of light for such a small unit. You can adjust the brightness as well. Now I used them mounted to the inside of my black plastic lids on a couple of 10 gallon tanks.
  11. Yes I'm a floating guppy grass and hornwort junky so plenty of that in there. As well as java moss. That would be awesome just a new baby fish here and there.
  12. Right now I have the tank set to 73 degrees. Yes I will be getting a mop from a fellow fish club friend at our meeting on Friday. I figured if I do get good spawning I can remove the eggs and put them into a ziss breeder box in my 20 long tank since it has more room for it. That way it does not take up a big piece of real estate in there 10 gallon home. The same fish club friend keeps there fish room at about 76 degrees tank water that is and she said she gets fairly good spawns. Always like to compare from different folks.
  13. I mean my first is to enjoy them and keep them in a tank I like to watch. If I can get them to breed that's just a bonus. I figure if I become serious on really wanting to have a good go at it. I'll use a mop to collect eggs. Then I can pull them and put them in the ziss breeder box in my 20 long to hatch and start the grow out process.
  14. Yes that's them. There setup in a 10 gallon planted tank with plenty of floating guppy grass hornwort and anubias.
  15. So no really worry's if aggression since I'm only keeping one male with 2 females then? Awesome I'm keeping them at about 74 degrees. Right now there about 3-4 months old. Around what time do they reach breeding maturity?
  16. Hey fellow nerms. I just got a trio of these guys today. Looking for any tips on them from anyone that has kept them before. Mainly about breeding and temps. Any info is greatly appreciated
  17. So I just got a trio of Fundulopanchax gardneri today. Was curious what temps you like to keep yours at. Of course the Google general knowledge says 65-75. I like to hear it first hand. Would like to get a little breeding action out of them one day soon once I get them conditioned well
  18. Ah yes I see what your saying. A small stream of them are coming out around where the curved tube is going into the next tube down. I'm thinking maybe I used one size to small tube between the curved pipe and the main tube attached to the top of the filter. User error on my part
  19. Actually there is not much moss in that tank it's mostly guppy grass and hornwort. If it does not look like a jungle then your not doing it right 😆
  20. Just thought I would throw this out there. A small video I made of the flow from the new kit and how it looks. @Cory
  21. Alright fellow nerms who is ready for some new fish! So up first is that new trio I talked about a couple of weeks ago. They have already been named Lucy,Ricky, and Ethel. I have been wanting them for awhile but just now have been able to get them. They will be a great addition to the 29 gallon tank. They are my new trio of honey gouramis! They are in the tank now with the lights of getting settled in. And the second new edition will be going into the former 10 gallon guppy tank. My friend took the rest of my guppies. They are a very new fish to me. It's a trio of fundulopanchax gardneri killifish. I know try and pronounce that name 😆 the same friend that took my guppys breeds these guys.. I think the 10 gallon for just the trio will be a nice fit. With some shrimp and snails as friends. There in there tank now with lights out for awhile to have some rest time. Updates to follow soon!
  22. Just made a new video of the coop easy flow uplift kit. Take a gander and see how it does. As well my two new types of fishy friends just got here. They are floating right now. So I will reveal them soon! Also thanks to my partner in crime @Guppysnail for the upflow kit https://youtu.be/1LFdBLcJGNY?feature=shared
