  1. My tank is pretty heavily planted with hornwort and dwarf sag and other things, so hopefully I get some fry surviving. If I get a lot I'm pretty sure I can work something out with my lfs
  2. My dad helped a turtle cross the road on his way back from our brunch.
  3. I remembered/realized all the daphnea living in my other shrimp only tank (I kind of look past them eventually) 😅 So I managed to suck some up with a syringe and squirt them into this tank at feeding time. The white clouds liked that.
  4. You can try cleaning the sticky with rubbing alcohol, just thoroughly rinse with water when you're done and leave them to dry.
  5. I guess "gravid" is the correct term, rather than "pregnant"?
  6. Does the minnow top center look pregnant? It's acting normal like all the others but seems chubby. I've had them about 5 weeks now.
  7. Would something like these slate cheese markers work for you? Idk if you could wedge them into your pieces of wood at the base. Or just break off the sharp parts and super glue them on.
  8. Staghorn algae likes to grow in a disc/clump at the top of my airline in my shrimp only tank. That's the only place, so I leave it for a while for them to graze on, then eventually pull it. It comes off easy. Then the cycle begins anew 😅
  9. Replaced one of the Amazon swords with a stick I had from the other tank. The shrimp approve.
  10. Those blood parrots are bright and saturated. Love their little faces
  11. White clouds are great, I'm glad you're showcasing and working with them
  12. Got some fluval bug bite flakes to supplement my fluval color enhancing flakes. The fish seem to love both, and the shrimp will munch on the flakes as well given a chance. Hope a varied diet may eventually help encourage breeding. Mostly just want them healthy and happy.
  13. Just more attempted minnow pics. I think I'm slowly improving. I summoned them with a shrimp pic 😋
  14. Oldest pic vs most recent pic. I guess my advice is be patient but don't try to be perfect. Setbacks will happen. Let mother nature take her course. She's been doing this longer than any of us.
  15. Filled in some empty space with tree sticks and moved anubius in the back. If my crypts keep coming back strong I'll be pretty happy with this look. For a while at least 😅 White cloud minnows look to be doing well. The elite 8 all seem solid. They are plump colorful and active. I've gotten slightly better pics but it's still a struggle.
  16. I worry about not having enough flow for them. I'm kind of stuck on what algae eater would fit my setup
  17. The shrimp dying could be stress or bad luck. Or they may have had molting issues. If you try shrimp again, see if you can find them local if possible. If that's not an option maybe try looking for a dedicated shrimp breeder, and check how far away they'll be shipping. Also ask for water parameters if possible. Add a piece of cuttle bone to help shells/molts. An almond leaf and a piece of wood if you don't already have one. Shrimp love to graze on both. They are neat little critters so I'm sorry you haven't had good experiences with them. (Also I love the look of gold ring danios, but I haven't been able to find them.)
  18. I also like flourite sand. You could mix in something like pea gravel in some spots for variety. As far as the lid, I just use tape to cover gaps. I also tend to keep the water level a bit below the top just so nothing is tempted to escape.
  19. I agree it looks like rhabdocelea, but I'm not sure they are dangerous to living creatures. Have you seen them on any of the snails? When you say the tank is new, how new? Where did you get your shrimp from? It does not look like the harmful planaria I'm (unfortunately) familiar with. I wouldn't resort to planaria meds just yet if you're worried about snails.
  20. They seem like fascinating little creatures and I've been considering one for my shrimp and white cloud tank. There is plenty of bio film, but not really high water flow. Temps range from around 64F in winter to 76F in summer. Does a stiphodon goby seem reasonable or not so much?
  21. I noticed what I think is a hornwort flower. It seems similar to pics I looked up. I don't think it's snail eggs because I don't think I have any snails. If it turns out it is that's fine.
  22. I admire your patience, your shrimp friends will appreciate the tank seasoning. Good luck to you, I look forward to seeing your progress. I started my first shrimp tank about a year ago, they're awesome.
