  1. I was thinking white clouds. My F1 generation spawned in my 20Long and I moved the babies over to my 10 gal. You may need a bit of cover If you want everyone to be in one tank, I think some of my fish are fry eaters while others may not be. I put out 2 tubs over the summer and one spawned ~ 60 fry and the other none. Not sure what caused it. If you have one male with a couple females... It could be a fun project. I think I am going to try and experiment with getting more red in mine. I have one male that is really red comparatively and would be cool to see what line breeding may do (golden WCMM's btw).
  2. It is not a friend. Welcome to the Forum.
  3. Have you checked out @mountaintoppufferkeeper's posts yet?
  4. Sounds like a mysterious issue, I hope you get it figured out. Out of curiosity, what are you feeding your white clouds? I have had issues with different foods in the past.
  5. White cloud mountain minnows have cool behavior where they flair all their fins and rapidly shake them as they move through the water column. I see this mostly with the males sizing each other up.
  6. I came home last night to one of my "salt and pepper" corydoras doing the same thing! They are doing a "Pooka".
  7. Woot! Would love to see updates throughout the process. I have five in a specimen container ~2weeks old. I have been doing partial changes twice daily (after I feed). I have been feeding baby brine and small amounts of repashy. It is fun to see their golden bellies after eating BBS.
  8. Thanks @Schwack. There haven't been any issues for the year I had them until I tried feeding frozen food but if I notice more issues or have any deaths I'll definitely do a necropsy.
  9. @PineSong The one that succeeded had less plants and less sun. It is possible the ph or buffer were different. I had river rocks in them both and some change the water I think. I remember noticing a difference when testing the water but didn't record. The tote I expected to produce more young because it had lots of algae and floating plant roots but I didn't get any. I did just have 4 fry I caught out of my 20long, the other week, so the "juveniles" are spawning... @Schwack I do have ParaCleanse, should that do the trick if I am worried about camallanus.? Did your pseudomugil perodically die off or only when you fed specific foods?
  10. Mine spawned in a 55gal barrel pond but none in my rectangular tote pond (or none survived).
  11. Those observations are very helpful @PineSong. I did have some in distress the next day that survived (just remembered). Everyone has been fine since. Perhaps full size brine and small bloodworms are too much/big for white clouds. Good luck with yours. I bought 10 and managed (mostly luck) to have them breed and now have ~60?
  12. So I have had two instances of feeding my white clouds and them dying and wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. When I first got my white clouds they were small (2-3 months old?) and i was feeding frozen brine shrimp (adults) along with flake. They started showing signs if distress and would die one by one. I stopped feeding frozen brine and they stopped dying. I have fed them and their 60+ offspring flake, bug bites, and baby brine (live and frozen) ever since and have had no issues. I heard others have had issues with WCMM's and adult brine. This weekend I bought small blood worms and fed them to 3 different tanks: The 45 has ~30 white clouds (3adult & rest juvenile) and 6 corys - It got one cube in the morning (no issue) and 1 cube in the evening (a few hours later issues). The 20 long with ~30 white clouds (juvenile) got a half cube (no issues). The 10 gal with 7 adults got a half cube(no issues). I noticed an adult female in the 45 resting on a leaf and distressed "breathing" (buccal pumping?) last night. This morning her and two juveniles were dead. Their abdomen was opened around their anus and the snails were doing their thing. I'm wondering what may have happened. Are blood worms too much for WCMM's? Are they gorging themselves and need less? Is it an internal parasite issue and the blood worms stopped them up? I haven't had issues before so I'll likely just stop feeding blood worms, but was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience with White Clouds that may shed light on this mystery.
  13. How did you extract them (physically) and with them guarding the cave?
  14. My bettas have been murder fish... I heard pea puffers are also.
  15. Here are a couple different posts to help inspire you
  16. Just spit-balling here but, the buying and QT process is kind of stressful. It could have developed as something too small to notice and only later did it spread. Organisms can be carriers without exhibiting symptoms, that is possible, only to exhibit symptoms later. If you are worried about fin-nipping maybe put more décor (or move it to a more optimum place) to better break up line of sight. I am not that knowledgeable about sword tails but I would expect the mails would be busy with each other not to mention the females.... Best is probably keep doing what you are doing and watch the tank inhabitants and tank parameters.
  17. Small addition, if I remember correctly the facing has to do with building code... a quick search (and multiple sources) indicate that facing acts as a vapor inhibitor (hunker/insulation). It seems that having facing on any exterior walls would be beneficial (plus they are easier to install from personal experience 😉). Good luck on the build!
  18. If you have a known infection in the tank it is best to wait the proper time and recovery of the one fish incase others are carriers with out displaying symptoms.
  19. I def love having corydoras (paleatus) they are fun to watch and have handled my beginner mistakes. They are getting a good size, visible in larger tanks, but I need more so they are comfortable (only have 3 atm). They are hilarious to watch forage.
