Sorry you have to give up two of your sweet plecos, but I’m glad you found good homes for them! Where do you find people to take them?

I joined that local club and they have a band ap I posted them on. Yes it was very hard to give these beautiful babies up but best for them and then new babies coming.

@Guppysnailthe water test kit color cards work well for removing snail eggs because they are thin and flexible. You might give one of those a shot.

After your suggestion on another post that is exactly what I used. 😁. Definitely operator error and my lack of ninja egg collecting skips 🤣

Morning MESSY project.

Riccia fluitans (crystal wort) tree

I bought the Riccia trimmings at the club auction. There was a post on here how to glue moss so it motivated me to glue it to my wood in the guppy tank. I hope Angel and Lefty do not eat it but it is probably going to get munched by the 🐷 guppies 🙄

I moved Angel in his cave with his wrigglers to the guppy girl grow out tank.  I seriously hate moving fish and stressing them especially watching fry but there is no way I will get the fry out of the 29 once they are out of the cave. Plus it gives Angels cave time to grow a fuller algae carpet like Lefty’s in the shorter tank. 3EC784B0-E693-40E1-BD12-180C739E24E1.jpeg.459a440a880efce33ebe73ba43125982.jpeg

I was worried about the fish bothering it. 10 minutes and the tiny terrorists (shrimp🥰) have covered it.

The Riccia has pretty much obliterated the duckweed in my tanks. It grows like crazy, and it is thriving in the Vampire crab tank, which happens to be the insane shrimplet factory!

I take it out by the mounds when I do WC because it covers the surface. 😁

I seen it in tree form engulfing the tank at my LFS and have wanted one like it.  I hope I have your luck with it.

Second to last picture... That wood looks like it's on fire. Very cool.

This got rough in the OG CPD colony yesterday. I was watching 2 of my two dominant CPD face off because it was definitely more intense than usual so I knew this would be an ugly one. Normally I let them be but when I see it this bad I do try to interfere because one or both usually end up wounded badly enough they only make it a few days. I caught this one as it started so neither would be injured.
The video got cut short when I realized this was a really bad one. I jumped up and put my hand in then food neither worked they relocated and continued.

Since there isn’t hard scape other than mom n dads log and my shrimp moss rock I could move about I decided to add any of the fry large enough to not get eaten. During the process the boys continued fighting. Once a decent number (12-15 I was hurrying so didn’t count) were in they relocated under the intake and continued 🙁. Both stayed somewhat out of sight low on opposite sides of the tank yesterday so I have not seen how badly/if either are injured this time.
Even peaceful fish can be violent when mating and territory are in play.

Very interesting friend! I've not seen my boys doing this as of yet (doesn't mean they don't just haven't witnessed anything but the typical displays with no actual body contact). My tank is so much smaller than yours too. I do worry a little bit about it but thus far have not seen any injuries or had any losses (that I'm aware of as I only see a few of my CPDs at a time).

When I first had them and after they matured and we’re about 1 year old I was petrified something was in my tank making them ill. It shows as a pinkish white spot then sometimes the side it’s on will swell.  One I lost I took a look with a magnifying glass and noticed a missing scal and what looked like a protrusion in the tank under magnification I seen it was a tiny scale missing and a tiny piece of meat missing. I was so frightened. But the next day I witnessed it happening.  And seen everything.  This is how I was alerted to all the drama that happens with these little ones.  I had 3 to start my colony 1/m/2f and got a group of 5 as early unsexed juveniles to add genetic diversity.  Turns out all 5 were boys 😣. They fought until 3/6 were left over 2 weeks. Then all was harmonious for 6-7 months until more male than female fry began surviving.
if it was not for this brutality I may ave never taken the time to truly watch and understand all the dynamics of these little ones. I also would have worried needlessly that there was a mystery illness.

Wow, how things can get so complicated sometimes. Remember the days when we would just sit back and chill and watch fish?  😝  Now we are referees and tank janitors and everything else, lmao
