  1. I lose my mind with airports. This year we're doing something different. Going to try the train.
  2. The Thing (1982) Event Horizon 28 Days Later
  3. What size/age do the start getting into spawning mode? I managed to get a nice group a few months back but they were tiny little buggers. They've grown nicely and are all about an inch and a half now so I figure I still have a little ways to go. Really excited to see these fish mature.
  4. These are awesome fish that I've had my eye on for some time. I saw a group struggling at my lfs awhile back, they were in city water(just about RO) and mixed in with other tropical species at close to 80°. Fish store guy was like, yeah those didn't come in to well, I'll make ya a deal. So I took them home to an unheated planted tank filled with my very hard well water and they are looking fantastic! now. Unfortunately all turned out to be makes. Hoping to track females down someday to breed.
  5. Unbelievably gorgeous tank @Fish Folk. Wow! I need to get myself some discus.
  6. Went to hike Mt. Mazama but 8000 feet up the trail ends with a view of this gorgeous lake. I must've had an old map.
  7. I have 5 or so male swordtails in a 75 and they are relentless towards each other. I don't know if a 20g would workout. Go with the guppies.
  8. I don't know how it would go with the tetras but if you put a lid on the tank maybe an African butterfly fish?
  9. These appear to be limpets. Basically a little snail like critter. Not of concern.
  10. Totes didn't produce many fish this year, but they certainly brought in the nature
  11. Looks like a standard bristlenose female. Nice and healthy looking.
  12. If I had to guess I'd say it's some sort of midge larva. Could've come in as an egg on plants or if you have an open top tank. Ive never dealt with one in a shrimp tank and have no idea whether or not it would harm shrimp.
  13. Depends. But I'll answer the question for myself. The easiest rock for me is what I can find and collect in my area. Volcanic lava rock is easy to stack and make vertical arrangements and dark rounded river stones are an easy way give an authentic 'natural' look.
  14. Only seen this display a few times and only captured part of it on camera once. Carinotetraodon irrubesco. Male flattens himself vertically displaying to female. Hope one day to have them spawn.
  15. What is the tank size? Its hard to tell from the picture and that would influence what would be recommended. White Cloud minnows always come to mind when thinking of a fish for a tank with some flow. But I have congo tetras and medium sized barbs in my higher flow 75 gallon. There are some loach species that apparently eat snails and should do fine with flow but again, it really depends on tank size.
  16. 8" is pretty shallow, but if I had that tank I'd see if I could find some way to set up rockwork with lots of nooks and crannies and install a small power head or HOB to generate some flow and have myself a little hillstream loach tank. It's also a pretty easy tank to get things growing out the top like pothos or bamboo.
  17. I'm going with Hemigrammus ocelifer, the Head-and-taillight Tetra.
  18. If I'm having a hard time catching fish I use two nets. One that I have is quite large and I'll use a smaller net to corral the fish into the bigger net.
  19. Sahyadria denisonii. The Roseline shark comes in a rare gold form now.
  20. Well, if I had a 10 gallon and wanted something new / different / weird, I would consider the Desert goby (Chlanydogobius eremiuseremi), just about any killifish pair, or maybe a pair of wild type Bettas.
  21. My initial thought is the other fish present are eating the eggs/fry. I've also heard gold wcmm are harder to breed, but I have no experience with them. Standard white clouds though I have bred many times and I do agree that it's as easy as 'just add water.' I would try keeping the wcmm in a species only setup to see if fry emerge or attempt to collect eggs to hatch and grow up elsewhere.
