  1. Yeah thats been a thing for at least a year I believe they carry a few others as well
  2. I've done the clipping with success but I would highly suggest if the plant is new let it acclimate in your water for at least a few days before you do it as thats just that much extra stress on the plant.
  3. Companies selling you bigger "better" filters that require "refills" so people spend more money they are also bigger and bulkier for shipping and storage.
  4. Just wanted to chime in on two things that I believe were not the case or problem from my experience it didnt have anything to do with PH, temp etc. but instead drip acclimating isnt the way to go if you are getting fish shipped to you. The reason being is if there is ammonia in the bag and it gets exposed to air it will immediately become very toxic and you want to get them out of the bags as quickly as possible so temp acclimate and "plop and drop". Also feel the need to say the whole Cory cats and substrate thing is an internet myth they live in varied environments sand, gravel, coarse gravel, stones etc. so you can keep them on just about anything.
  5. Dont feel bad the amount of money I've wasted on plants that wont grow in my water or needs co2 etc. really bothers me lol but its all been part of the learning experience! I'm not familiar with that one whats the common name if it has one?
  6. Honestly the more I look at it looks like a form of Ludwigia Repens (green maybe) definitely keep us posted on how it goes!
  7. Hmmmmmmm in my experience the ones I've had don't look like that the emersed form looks like this: Submerged
  8. Yeah that one is definitely Mayaca the other two look like either a form of Hygrophila or maybe Ludwigia would be my guess.
  9. If I could only have one it would be close between frogbit and hornwort but also depends what you are looking for.
  10. Please be sure to update us I like experiments too lol!
  11. Nice! Yeah I'm going to be really curious how that turns out like you said no science just some intuition I guess lol I would think at the very least with floaters cutting out light in theory it would help?
  12. Hmmmm interesting makes me think......In your opinion does having the floating plants help with evaporation and top offs or no?
  13. I like to mix the krill flake with the spirulina flake but that one is only available in the big container.
  14. You wouldnt really have to put the sponge filter in the middle its just going to be mostly there for aeration you could put it in a corner.
  15. Optimally if I could get the 110 in the middle for polishing and have 1 sponge on each side of the tank but you really cant go wrong with any combination if you are planning to have at least one sponge filter in there.
  16. This is going to be a judgement call on your part personally I'd be too paranoid at 6 months but I'd smell it and look at the color. It would be hard to describe what it should smell like again that would be a judgement call but the color should still be a nice bright red. I also keep all of my foods in the fridge which helps in my opinion.
  17. Yup just keep trimming it to the height you want to keep it at
  18. Sounds like you should be good to go then 🙂
  19. In the interest of limiting cross contamination I would keep that filter dedicated to the quarantine tank if you've treated potentially sick fish in it. If you for example put a new sponge filter in it and squeezed out another sponge filter from an existing tank into that one its pretty much insta-cycled you just dont want to put a ton of fish into it right away just a couple if possible then slowly add more.
  20. Gotcha, I've got double digit tanks in an apartment for right now running a dehumidifier would be terrible for me lol!
