  1. I'm running at 85 and have my tank mostly dialed in. It's been a year long progression. Some plants just don't thrive at this high temp. I'm slowly buying one of each coop plant to see what makes it haha.
  2. Post a screenshot or link see, if some of the others can help. Cory might even be interested.
  3. Thanks for the breakdown. This year I have been measuring ph 8 from the tap. I am doing 2 bps on solenoid. 630am-8pm. I have fluval 3.0 20% amber light all day then full blast (no blue) at 3pm till 8pm. At 3pm I have measured as low as 7.4. I'm looking for sustainable long term growth not crazy plant explosions. I'll pick up easy iron on my next order. Interesting that calcium would be light. I assumed that would be sky high. Thanks.
  4. I second this. I went 4 days no power and when I got back in and tested daily after restart I never saw any spikes. If you're going long term without power just don't feed.
  5. Nitrites are very toxic to fish. I would water change that out. To the lowest measurable level. So multiple 50% changes.
  6. I'm down in Waco. We're on well water not lake water. So you're gonna be completely different unless y'all are pulling all the way from the Trinity aquafer. We are super limestonely down here under all the black dirt. You should be able to Google your city name and water report to get your local one. In fact yours is here. 7. Just got my 2020 water report. For a high tech planted tank what do you think? I already use easy green and root tabs. No reported phosphate that I saw.
  8. I toss mine into a tank soon and I can unbox them. Let them sit in the pots till I can spend time and plant them right.
  9. This is a 5t 100 gallon. Like others said get the medium grit. 1 lbs per gallon. I had to add a bag of sand and the pea gravel on the right side after I sloped it up on the left. And wash it well. Then when you think it's clean wash it again.
  10. If at 7 hours of light a day you are good with algae you could try going longer. Try 8 hours for a week and see if the algae stays in control. Have you tried/considered easy carbon to keep the algae at bay?
  11. I recently replanted a sword and it took 3 weeks in my high tech setup to start sending up a new leaf.
  12. I've used bricks to weigh peices down, took 3 weeks in the summer sun. Just letting others float in the tanks takes 6 plus.
  13. You could use your gravel vac to skim the water surface. I do that after I feed a messy food that leaves a oil slick.
  14. You're getting solid advice here. Hang in there.
  15. This. Same for me, I get weird readings if I leave them laying on something flat.
  16. Thanks. Do you use seachem prime? It's known to cause false positive on ammonia. You should not see any ammonia unless you're using organic dirt type substrate. I do use easy green and root tabs to get my ferts up. I'm also running CO2 now.
  17. Lol no worries. If you're reading .25 maybe, I would let it sit. When I was doing the fish in cycle on my tanks that's what I would hold it at. It's not idea, but you need the ammonia to build the bacteria colony. Attached pic of my tank. Do you have this many plants? Angel fish for scale.
  18. Have a pic of your planted tank? At 125 with those few fish and heavy plants you may not have even cycled your filter yet. If you never saw nitrites then you don't have the bacteria to convert to nitrates is my thinking.
  19. I lost my tank of enders that were wintering in my shop that week. The tank didn't freeze but it was super close. They do incredible in the heat and I've had them in the high 50s.
  20. I keep tetras, apistos, shrimp 6 diff cats including Otos and snails at 85 with my discus. Since you're getting a slow rise into the heat I think they will be ok. Put a fan blowing across that bucket and it will supercharge the evaporative cooling you're doing.
  21. If you can do this or even take the foam/floss/other media and put it in the new filter that would be the best.
