  1. The more I looked at the pic and reread your post @Fish Folk I was thinking those were the ones that you mentioned broke off the bulb. I had one do that to me but I just laid in on top of the substrate and so far its doing great. I did the same thing with one of mine because I couldn't tell if it was the root or stalk...LOL so its just hanging out in the corner making its mind up as to what it wants to do. I have an entire tank planted but that bulb is the only one I go looking at on purpose. I named it Fred. ....How ya doing Fred? Nothing today? 🤣
  2. If you have snails...they will do the trimming for you.
  3. Im not sure if your supposed to bury the whole bulb on those. I think it causes them to rot. I may be wrong but double check!
  4. Changing water will remove Nitrates...thats one of the purposes for doing water changes in the first place is to remove nitrates. If you want to see the crushed coral work a bit faster it needs to be put in an area of higher flow than just sitting on the bottom of the tank. The acidity of the water is what breaks it down and if you have good flow over it ...it works more efficiently.
  5. Are you referring to the white dots? I don't know but geeze those buggers are small.
  6. This is the one I too am currently using. It definitely clears up all of the fine particles from the water column.
  7. I understand …please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help in any way! Just to let you know …the cycle is under way in the aquarium…your multitest strips showed I had nitrites and a test with the API kit showed the exact same result. Here is the ammonia and nitrite API test confirming your multitest strip.
  8. @Cory I would be happy to send you my bottle of DrTims and my bottle of test strips for you to work with. That would eliminate any variable from what I am seeing.
  9. I also went and tested the aquarium again using the dipping up and down in and out of the water . here are the results of both test strips side by side…the control gallon and the fish tank. Mind you the fish tank has 2 times the ammonia in it …
  10. @Cory ok I performed the procedure exactly as is shown in the video. Taking the strip and dipping in and out of water for 30 seconds. Just to recap this is the gallon of distilled water that has 4 drops of the DR.Tim’s ammonia chloride. 4 drops should have a reading of 2 ppm. Here is the test strip results..
  11. Yes sir I will try that method when I get home. I still have the gallon of water with the 4drops of the ammonium chloride in it. I will post the results shortly. Thank you
  12. It is perfectly fin for a fish tank. The one you were given was even marketed for aquariums because of the fish on the packaging. It has no chemicals...is inert in the tank and will filter out very fine particles almost polishing the water. I put it in my filters as a final step before the water goes back to the tank. It relatively inexpensive and it works well.
  13. Once the 20 gallon bowl is cycled we will be having one our own. That one is truly wow!!
  14. Wait till my breeding trio hits the 150 Gallon pond ....oye vey😨😱🤣
  15. I can tell you that I have a digital PH pen that Is calibrated regularly. The Co-Op multitest strip matches up very very close to my pen. I can say that for me it also matched up with my API kit. May I ask what dechlorinator you are using....some dont react well with certain test kits whether it is liquid or test strip. I can also say that my TDS meter lines up with the GH pad on the multitest strip as well. My tds Meter shows 0 coming out of my R/O filter so I know it is reading correctly. This is just what I have experienced.
  16. My first instinct would be to put the fish thru the med trio for a week. With very light feedings. That would help with most things internal and any external infections.
  17. I did a 50-70 percent water change which brought down my level to about 4 ppm. I know that is still high but I am not in a rush to have it finished. I plan on adding shrimp and snails and giving the extra time for algae and biofilm to develop is good for my situation. This also allows the plants time to settle in and get acquainted to their new home and start to grow. Which I am already seeing some growth. I have been testing it every day but decided last night to just let it go until sunday and then do a test just to see the progression. I am starting to see some green algae starting on the drift wood which I am happy about. so Its going ok. I would recommend for you to do a water change...get it down to 2-3 ppm of ammonia and then sit back and just let things progress.
  18. When I want some I know who to goto...lol
  19. I also tested the tank that started all of this …the strip is labeled with a T for tank. here is the results
  20. This pic is of the test strips…now please remember that almost 40 min has passed since the control test to the end …notice how after 40 min how even the control test strip that started out showing zero has discolored…this is due to the oxidation of the strip just sitting. strip 4 is lighter than the control because it has been sitting less.
  21. Here are all of the vials together you can definitely see the progression from zero on up.
  22. I added the third drop of ammonia …. Still the test strip shows no change but the API shows the increase.
