Has anyone used this API marine Calcium for adding calcium to your planted aquarium

Where did you find a kit to measure potassium? I've looked online and have thus far come up empty handed.

Can anyone tell me what could be causing the holes in the leaves?

I'm kinda curious as to if you could be over dosing? I'm not an expert by no means and am actually curious has to how often I should be dosing? I know I've read to try and stay around 40ppm NO3 But without the presence of CO2 is dosing twice a week too much?

I'm currently down to just 7 125 Extra Tall 2-55's 2-30's 1-10 And Hospital/quarantine

I use it for a night light for the kids! when they wake up at night and have to use restroom or head to kitchen. I've started covering the front of the tank during the day. The back is painted black so this may help

I've been thinking about how I run my lights lately! They used to be set at 8hrs but my plants were struggling so I thought I'd up it to 12. And I've got a low tech tank with two lights I bought on Amazon ones a hygger and the others a aquabasik. Both had great reviews. I was dosing easy green like it says on the box and yes I WAS using sand but have switched to Stratum with a white gravel cap. Anyhow I switched it to 12hrs And I'm still not getting ANY Algae. So my question is I run my lights from 5pm to 5am but as soon as the lights go out all the lights in my house come on time to get up for work. Is my indoor lighting putting off enough light to keep the plants from the 12hrs of resting time? Only time I've ever gotten algae is when I decided to dose with Flourish and it literally happed overnight. I've since than stopped using. Should I try upping my easy green fert until I start seeing some algae? Now I'm curious if my plants are consuming more than 1 pump/50G and i should up it and alter my lighting. Sorry for the long post! I'm just trying to dial this in and you all know I'm a beginner but am giving it my all

Hey yall has anyone ordered the large and medium Pre- filter? I ordered the large for my FX6 and it's the size of a sponge filter which is perfect for the FX6 so I thought I'll order one for my Marinland magniflow 220 but I ordered a medium instead and boy there's a massive difference in the 2 sizes. Only reason I'm asking is to see if maybe there was a mistake made somehow cause the size of this medium I would think would be the small and if not than I definitely wanna order the small to see how they can get them much smaller. Anyhow heres a pic and tell me what you think!!

I would think if you use the inline with your inlet port of your canister it would be ok as long as it was kept clean. Now adding one with inline with a pump would either try to slow down the 206 or speed it up which either one I would think wouldnt be good on the 206 like it would be working against the filter. I've been a mechanic for 20 years and in my experience when you start messing with the flow of a pump it tends to lead to bad results. Just my opinion

Ladys and Gentlemen I've taken everyone's advise and did away with the white sand and now it's got 28lbs of Fluval Stratum than topped with a white gravel. So now hopefully the shock from swapping them over dosen't kill everything off. Thanks for everyone's help

How much Fluval stratum do yall think I will need to swap my 55 Gall over? 48 long 12 deep?

Not sure what the name of this plant is but it grows awesome in my water in the sand along with Amazon sword. Anubis. I ha ent had any luck with Val, Hornwart grows well even in sand.

My parameters were sitting at 1 to 3* GH, 20* KH. Calcium levels was barely registering at 1 to 3*, Nitrates always run higher 60 to 80ppm.. My Friend down the street has a well that's unfiltered so I added 10 Gallons of it to my tank which after a couple days I retested and it brought my GH up to 8 to 9* KH stayed at 20* and my Calcium levels jumped to 5* So I guess my next question is should I mix the two waters still or just run my super soft water? Also I used wonderShells to bring up my calcium levels and after a week or so its dissolved how often should I add them?

I originally just put the fx6 on my 55 to seed it for my 125 I've yet to put up

Actually my tanks been up for a couple years! And the only time I get algae is when I use Seachem Flourish. I can double my easy green fert and leave my light on for 12hrs and still dont get algae. I dont get it. But ya my tank is well established I just have an fx6 on my 55G so my water is always spotless. I do water changes weekly or at least biweekly

What's best for plants hard or soft water? I've seen a bunch of videos online and some say soft water is the way to go and other say hard all the way. Which is it? I would have never guessed when getting into thos hobby growing plants in water would be so difficult. I'm not giving up by no means but there's way more to it than just burying some plants and having great growth! At least it is for me. I've got a whole house prefilter than a water softener and my GH was like 1 or 2* My KH is always 20* PH 8.4 and calcium and magnesium is almost zero and my plants weren't doing so well even using root tabs and dosing the water (Easy line Products all the way) I found out right off that it was going to be a challenge for me having a sand substrate but I also seen multiple videos saying as long as the sand was a finer sand it wouldnt choke out my roots and I've got the cichlid sand and it's very fine it doesnt compact at all so I would think it would be easy for roots to travel. Anyhow back to the water subject my water has almost nothing in it as well so I contacted a buddy right down the road and he has unfiltered well water so I drained 1/3rd of my tank and added his hard well water which has brought my GH up to 9 to 10* KH and PH has stayed the same and I've also added wonder shells for Calcium and magnesium and between his well water and the shells its brought my Calcium level up to 5*. I've got root tabs about every 3 to 6 inches throughout my 55G. I do have quite a few amazon swords anubis and val's in my tank plus another that I'm not sure the name. So has all these changes going to get me better growth? I'm not even looking for explosive just some growth. Hell I'd be happy just to have a nice green forest

I picked what I believe is a 125G and I'm trying to find a pair of glass tops for it. Heres the only sticker I've found

My Nitrates were always through the roof no matter the water changes. It would drop to normal levels than after a day or two it would jump right back up to 80 to 100 ppm. I posted here on the forum and a Gentleman suggested a Pothos so I did what I always do and bought the biggest one I could find lol. Well after about a month it started grow its water roots and started utilizing the nutrients in the water column. Now my Nitrates are 20 to 40ppm while using Easy Green and root tabs. I just thought I post a victory story cause they are always nice to hear. Hope everyone is having a safe and happy Saturday. Keep it fishy Friends and most importantly keep Nermin it up!!

Isn't empson salt a natural laxative? So wont that give my fish an unpleasant few hrs lol
