  1. Can anyone tell me if the Wondershell will give me the calcium and magnesium that I'm looking for for my plants? I tested my Gh,KH and Calcium and my KH and PH are both sky high and my GH is low (water softener) and when testing for Calcium it was almost non recordable less than 20ppm like 2*
  2. Just wanted to give an update on my pothos roots. They are doing just like you said @Cory thare are new roots coming in all over the place . Thanks again for all your help and not to just Cory but the entire forum!
  3. I've been studying a chart that shows plant deficiencies and what nutrients the plant is lacking and according to this chart I need magnesium. I've seen online that one can use empson salt. Has anyone used this and how much per gallon. Also I've got an api calcium test kit but it's hard to follow cause the colors are very faint. Nothing like what I've seen on YouTube. I. pretty sure I'm also missing that and I've read you can add crushed egg shells. Anyone tried this and does it work? I've got well water but we run a water softener. I know our water is still heavy on iron from the constant cleaning of our sinks and tubes. I'm assuming that's what it is. I tested my GH,KH and Calcium and heres the results. GH was 3 drops 50ppm, KH 22 drops which was through the roof at 400ppm and Calcium was like 2 drops at 60ppm. My Nitrates have significantly dropped since adding the pothos going from 80 to 100ppm to 60ppm which is huge win in my book
  4. Yes I use the easy green fertz, And I'll pull the swords up some, I had to bury them that deep cause of the sand substrate. If a fish swims near them they just float up out. The substrate doesn't pack at all. I've got enough seachem Flourite to do the entire tank I just really love how the white sand and black back ground look but I feel like it's just gunna be battle until I get rid of the sand
  5. I'm not a plant guy but I'm trying! I've heard plants dont grow well in sand so I've moved half of them into pots full of seachem Flourite substrate with easy tabs. Only ones in the sand are the new Amazon swords. The pics actually make them look better than they are. I've got higher Nitrates. Which I've been working getting it down to a more consistent 40ppm. All these plants are surrounded by easy tabs. What else can I test for to give me more answers on what I need? The bigger swords are new so they still look fabulous. Also my anubis has an alge growing on it.
  6. I'm pretty sure my Anubis is dying due to being planted incorrectly by planting the rison (spelling). Can I pull the plant out of the aquarium and put it in soil to bring it back to life than once thriving replant in the aquarium?
  7. Also one more question is this grow light a good idea or bad idea? Do I even need it?
  8. These are my Pothos the one on the right has been in my tank now for 2-3 weeks the bigger one on the left only a week. My question is are the ones on left rotting and if so Why? I've also added this grow light overtop seeing how it doesnt get much light. I've got everything on a timer for 8hrs a day
  9. My Pothos roots have turned from white color to a brown like they are rotting. Is this normal? I was also worried they wouldn't get sufficient lighting so I added a grow light setup!?!?!? Good idea or bad idea
  10. I'm 6hrs from Osage Beach! My family and I visit oceans of fun and worlds of fun every summer back in the day. I actually live In Illinois 20 miles from the big muddy and damn near along the center in a Tiny podunk town Called Berwick Population 50 lol. I wouldn't have it any other way
  11. Honestly I dont think I've ever even thought about it!! Chances are the only places going to be able to give deals like that are the big chain stores. The LFS are already paying top dollar for the equipment they sell because chances are like anything else the more you buy the cheaper they are. So there for a local mom and pops store aren't gunna buy more than let's say 6, FX6's when a major chain store has the money to buy 10,000 and sit on them until they do sell if that makes sence
  12. I'm starting up a 30 Gallon Half-moon tank and I'm wanting to use fish food to cycle my tank. Any recommendations on how much or how often I should add fish food? I've always had and still do have seasoned filters but I'm in no rush to set this up! My Son has always wanted a puffer fish so I'm thinking of getting him one for his birthday in early December! I haven't yet figured out which puffer yet. I've got bigger tanks if we decide to go with a larger breed of puffer but would rather just keep a smaller one that could live out its life in a 30 to 75 Gallon tank. A tank that wont be too big for his room! So recommendations on a specific puffer would also be helpful
  13. I hope so! I even went as far to buy a growing lamp to ensure it. I've always been passionate about life. And when my snails died I felt guilty that they died because of my ignorance. So I'm willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the lives I have left in the tank not only survive but thrive. I'd fill the whole back of the tank with pothos if I must!! My wife's not to thrilled about it but she knows me and supports me in what makes me happy.
  14. I've got a calcium test kit but haven't taken the time to figure out how to use it!
  15. Added the Pothos so let's see how it does. I'm going to take a picture once a week to document growth! Thanks again
  16. Ya hes got details hidden all over lol.
  17. My son was so excited that everyone liked his drawing he took it one step further but this time he put his own twist on it and decided Murphy needed to be a super hero! So without further ado Heres Captain Murphy!! The picture is hard to see without spanning in!!
  18. I'm truly excited to finally get off work and get home to show him Cory recognized him and his master peice. Thanks so much for taking time out of your super busy schedule to take a look at his drawing he will be beyond excited!
  19. My son loves to draw and I came home to this today. Here's his free hand of Murphy @Cory
  20. awesome! I will most definitely look into the pothos. Thanks friends. And your probably right about the ferts and my lights are usually on from 6pm till 4am give or take an hour
  21. I tested my tap. Zero Nitrates, I e come to the conclusion that I starved them. I keep my tank spotless of Alge. I thought the snails were bottom feeders cleaning substrate and dead plants but apparently not the those ki d of snails their diet consists of maintenance ly algae
  22. Any ideas to why my Nitrates are always so high even after a water change? Should I do a couple W/C per week until I can get it to that 40 ppm mark?
