  1. Welcome aboard. It starts with a 10 gal and goes from there!
  2. I'm currently using 1 large in a 55 gal but also have HOB's. I think I would use 2 mediums if that was all I was using. Having two sponges allows you to alternate cleaning each sponge weekly so you don't disrupt the cycled ecosystem as much.
  3. Yep. They are safe. I got worried the first time I saw this happen also.
  4. Can you isolate the leak to one side? Sounds like it could be on the bottom.
  5. How do you use the poly-fil in the tank? Do you put it in a bag/netting or just pull off a handful and stuff it in the filter?
  6. It is okay for the stand to be longer than the tank. As @lefty o stated, you do not want the tank to be longer than the stand. You need a stand at least 30 inches long but It is okay for the stand to be longer as long as it provides a flat and/or level surface to rest the tank upon.
  7. Shut the front door. I use these containers too! We have a bunch from take-out wonton soup 🤣. Medium and smaller coop filter fits great for cleaning! I use them for all sorts of stuff. Growing out floating plants, rooting vegetables for planting, etc. I have two pineapples rooting right now in the containers.
  8. I completely agree with the colors changing as they mature. I’ve noticed it with several of our males.
  9. Wow, that’s good to know. I was worried my tubs were already too hot in the 85+ degree range. Thanks.
  10. @PineSong I’m really bad at taking pics but here are a few. The dad is the larger in the center, kids to his left. bigger grouping and a larger group The camera doesn’t really capture the colors properly. They are more red than orange in person. We really need to bring some of these to the LFS. p.s. Don’t judge the algae on the glass 🤣. There are Oto’s and a snail in there somewhere eating away! I’m really surprised any algae can grow with all the guppy grass competing. This tank “had” (hopefully) duckweed in it too and the algae still grows.
  11. I often want to try a few more again to see if a different number would change the dynamics or a different cichlid like a pair of Apistos in the same tank.
  12. We tried to keep a couple rams together but one didn’t want the other one around and bullied it. This was in a 55 gal tank so they had plenty of space to separate. Hopefully you can figure out what’s happening with your tank.
  13. So far, our second generation is showing as pretty as the parents. Second or third batch of second generation are still showing up too. It will be interesting when third generation shows up. I've only seen one baby with a deformed growth out of hundreds now.
  14. I’m a fan of whatever I can keep alive 🤣 . Barteri tends to do okay for me. I’m adding some to my shrimp tank soon.
  15. The one tank that my guppy grass is growing well has duck weed. I really want to move some guppy grass to other tanks but don't want to spread the duck week. I'm really trying to keep it in one tank.
  16. I have it in one tank that I didn't try to grow it. It does take over quickly once it gets started. Our turtle does love to eat it so it's helping with food but overall, I don't want it in any other tanks. My guppies don't eat it enough to keep the rapid spread of growth down.
  17. A timeout for a short period by himself might help out the aggression.
  18. Awesome! I love seeing the new surprises. We have a tank full of guppies from new surprises. 🤣
  19. I just picked up a few more nerites to replace one that died. I really like having them in the tanks.
  20. I have two tubs I want to start soon. I might try with and without and see how they do.
  21. @Fish Folk Are you adding any air stone/sponges or going without?
  22. Impressive. That's a great looking tank.
  23. Your plants don't look bad. It's a slow grind with plants so keep with it.
  24. @Pepere Thanks. I have the itch to stand up a 75G for cichlids and debating the filter type.
