I'm really surprised that I haven't had any clutches from my mysteries. But also I'm not sure if I have males and females. With only having 2 in each tank.

Have you seen them mating?  Snails mate a lot so it’s very hard to miss. If not you most likely have 2 girls. Boys will attempt to mate one another so just seeing mating does not guarantee you have one of each.

Oh yes I see mating all the time. Both pairs in each tank are always on top of each other. But like you said it could be all males. I mean every day there always "mating" 🤣

My two baby pandas are doing great. I’m very suspicious since I though I had only Ace. Last night Ace and his new compadre were on the left side of the tank and ducked behind a plant. On the right side I seen one wiggle under a plant. Seemed to short a time for either to get to the other side. Hope I have 3. D8D943BD-7FC6-4DC5-A421-98E17D4AE9AE.jpeg.ec048c27ac1181d5cdb1956596d995d9.jpeg

seemed like such a waste of a perfectly good qt tote so I’m ordering Pygmy Cory. Hastatus are going to be my holy grail fish. I’ve contacted quite a few suppliers and they have not gotten them in awhile. The few places I found are west coast and outrageously priced. So Pygmy, least killi, white wizard, Viviparus viviparus, nerites and shrimp will be the stock in the girl grow out. Empty qt perfect reason to order fish 🤣🤣🤣

Fishroom (s) update

all kinds of movement. I found someone from my local club on Band (thank you @Odd Duck) who buys from wholesalers and sells as well as breeds to sell a ton of different fish. This guy has one of those crazy huge fish rooms so brings in new fish each week.
We are doing a buy/swap.  He took some of my CPD a few months back for his 100 gallon display.  He is taking not only Lefty and Angels kids who are about 1-1 1/2 inches but also Mom n Dads kids who are only 1/2 inch, my juvenile CPD, all the guppy babies even the smaller ones 😁.  He is kind enough he lives 2 hours from me and is willing to come to me for the swap.  I’m throwing in a few of the magenta mystery snail babies since it’s the only color he does not have currently breeding and I found a few hidden clutches behind my bamboo so threw them in an incubator.
B613F698-F483-4D13-A88F-956814AEA53B.jpeg.5096c1f69367d3beeb9f6a71f25a96f5.jpeg719FD147-E461-4A36-AF03-7D1AF72B7029.jpeg.be7ff902509919eecadb54426021b9f0.jpeg0AB924AB-3FA7-4186-8160-5F54AFCA6067.jpeg.865bb62249dead058be9103e5379910f.jpeg

I have no clue how I’m getting all the tiny babies out of the 40. So my attack plan is I’m using my tote qt and my larger coop net.  When all the babies are on the food bowl I’ve been netting bowl and all and transferring them a few at a time.  It’s awesome because dude is bringing buckets to transport so I don’t have to bag fish just have them in my buckets. I can just drain the qt and dump 😁 cat photobomb of course 🤣7DE543D5-8BEA-40A0-8CEF-6D3AE4113DCB.jpeg.0807413741cbe5911fabd4319a9c88ae.jpeg

The opportunity to clean out a bunch of tanks all at once instead of growing out the littler ones and batch driving them 45 min to give them to the lfs that won’t pay anything was to good.  I’m also giving him the breeding group of CPD out of the Pygmy tank. They are full size and a bit to aggressively active for the Pygmy. I noticed nipped fins on 2 and they hide more during the day when the CPD are being crazy. So out they go.

I wanted hastatus cory to replace the guppy girl grow outs. Yeah good luck with that. I found them one place for an insane price and insane shipping costs….no wonder they still had some.  He has Pygmy so I’m going with Pygmy. I love those enough to have 2 tanks with them. I was thinking about habrosus but the look of them just doesn’t do it for me.

Im getting 30 tank raised Pygmy that will be qt in the GGG tank. They will be the only thing there. Some of that group will go to add diverse genetics to my group.  I also got 6 1 inch pandas to add genetics. He said they are just shy of an inch so will make excellent grow up companion for Ace and Compadre.

So lots of changes in stock on most tanks.  It will be odd to have only 1 tank for CPD and 1 tank of guppies after having 3 of each for so long but I’m very excited for new to me fish adventures.  I’m still in search of this years new addition other than the least killifish  I’m wanting Microglanis iheringi- Bumblebee cats, Hara jerdoni- Asian stone mini cats, and Danio erythromicron-Emerald dwarf rasbora.  Pics from the net of wanted fish941B4ED6-3F44-4B62-8222-024D546E39C0.png.5d9f162dd2bdf1043964212b6306d62b.png2213B8DE-B92F-445A-AF91-5DF39DCDEEA4.png.d68095207d67af8b259f15c1f75a5778.png

Guppies are doing great  little boy got to friskie with the girls and got a nice tail nip smack down 🤣6C57DDFF-03F1-4516-A413-9E9C090C60C0.jpeg.07b8f01763bee43d3944d3d06edbf58d.jpegB87BDC59-705E-401D-AC91-720AF9778185.jpeg.94123eb82af88ca42c4c6c96c86b38d1.jpeg

It’s been super hot here so I tilt the blind in the late afternoon/evening shades so the tanks don’t overheat from hours of intense direct sun  I had to put a lid on the panda tank for the nerites  guess who forgot to draw the shades one night.  I caught it late and the panda tank was 80 degrees 🥵😲  it took 2 days of small water changes to get the temp back to 74  2 pandas got white something on them.  I had to treat and not knowing if they had a bacterial that opened them to fungus (it was close to the body so I can’t see it well) or if they just stressed or became susceptible to secondary since they ate and acted normal I used nitrofurazone in water and kanamycin in food.  They responded in 1 day and by day 2 white is gone so I think I’m pretty safe  I left them for a whole treatment  I HATE MEDICATING FISH!  I called my exotics vet I used to use for the dragon but the vet I used was no longer there for me to ask questions of and well vet bills for fish I currently can’t afford.  If you told me smacking myself in the head a dozen times really hard with a heavy book would help the fish I would have gone that route instead.

I was able to get 5 more least killifish from the girl and a group of 10 from another club member  These guys are tiny guppies personality and all but calmer, smaller and 1 baby at a time  I am smitten and so happy since I made the decision guppies were getting to be to much to drive 45 min to give away free anymore with gas prices and inflation being what it is  so only what survives in the adult tank with no special care.  This shrimp is berried for the first time so juvenile size  and this girl is prego and full adult size  adorable 🥰 sorry hard to see pic  6E089FF6-C578-4FF0-BCD9-692CC8D1248D.jpeg.1b3f6a9ee0a0c5536bfc67bef30ce667.jpeg

You're going to need bumblebee nerites to match your bumblebee cats.

Oh my @Guppysnail.  You've got a lot going on!  Do you usually keep plants in QT tanks?  Don't the meds harm the plants?

Me too.  I get a bummed out feeling when I put meds in.  I have some finishing a medicated quarantine now.  It's been probably a month and we had to go a few different routes with meds til it was determined what they had and the first course didn't work.  Started off treating for fungus but issue was columnaris.  Gave them a break, then switched off to Jungle Fizz & Kanaplex, gave them another break, then a bit of a mild salt treatment.  I'm proud because columnaris can kill a whole tank in 2-7 days, and I had no losses.  I quickly got these guys out when I saw a problem, and they survived, and no one in the display tank got the disease.

I don’t preemptively medicate fish. If I do need to medicate so be it I then treat for specific symptoms only and I will replace the plants. I feel it keeps stress level down oxygen up and cleaner water that benefits fish far more than anything.  These things are especially important to me when using cycled media in an unseasoned tote.

Wow those bumblebee nerites are cute. I would get vertigo with that many stripes in one tank 🤣

I always keep a wide range of meds on hand and every so often sort through expired and replace with fresh. Jungle tabs and kanaplax with focus in food is my go to for any white patches since it treats most things that show as white patches.
You did great with treating your kids. Time is the key element and hitting them at the first signs of trouble helps so much. I throw away more expired unopened meds than I have ever used but having it here to use in minutes of seeing anything is worth the expense.

Me neither.  Not only is it costly, but I don't want to stress them.  They've already been transported a few times and I know that's hard on them.  I wouldn't be opposed to a level 1 salt treatment, but last time I got new fish I just went with observation.

Agreed.  You don't need it until you need it, and if you aren't keeping it stocked, your fish suffer longer with illness while you go shop for it or wait for it to be shipped, etc.  (or they don't make it)

You know my friend does salt qt with fantastic success.  I decided I’m going to start doing it just to shed unwanted external hitchhikers. They found lucky bamboo survives salts so I can use that and I have red mangrove that can handle it. So I need to buy some silk aquarium plants to add for qt. This go though I’m doing 36 corydora who are not thrilled with salt so I’m not going to use it.

You certainly have a lot going on . That can be daunting and exciting at the same time 🤣. I agree with no preemptive meds (long observation period) and feel the same way when I do have to medicate 😟😡

Ace and Compadre joined the new group of young pandas in the old guppy girl grow out. I was fortunate enough to get these kids young from the breeder. Now my kids will have ones to grow up with. Duke still hides most of the time in the adult panda tank. I’m not stressing the tank to net him out and relocate him though. He will grow.

New Pygmy are settling in wonderfully.  I made the right choice to pull the CPD out.

So all kinds of stocking changes are coming to my fishroom. I will never be able to thank @Odd Duckenough for introducing me to Band. The guy I got the cory from is only 2 hours away and belongs to my local club. His stock list reads better than a lot of online retailers and changes weekly 😍 $15 ONE DAY ground shipping! Fun fish are now affordable to me and do not need flown cross country overnight for more than 100$+ each time 🤩🥳 I will finally be able to do fish and once they breed and I want something new I can exchange them for different fish…my nerm dreams come true ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Of course some fish are lifelong pets like my plecos, snails and cory.

As they come out of QT and go into the main tanks I will unveil them. I’ve placed some orders but my qt is a 20g tote I can’t see much through at all so pictures are worthless.

Kids were forced to eat only the rainbow this week and no green bean treats. So yesterday they got green beans. And were on parade. Angel I got no picture of. He is mad because I took eggs 2 days ago. 😢😡

Chestnut used the Bat pole as quick transport down to the food 🤣

Are the catfish eating the green beans too or do they get repashy or something?  Love the bat pole!  HAHAHA

My pleco eat 75% fresh vegetables.  I give them as much repashy and wafers etc for protein as they will eat but they will leave some sit and prefer veggies.
