I just had a customer message me this morning "the clutch hatched!  I'm really surprised it did because it got really moldy"

This is the one I have currently. I planned to ship this one not hatch it myself but life things got in the way and now I don't feel comfortable shipping it this developed. This one looks suuuuuper fertile tho.

Say prayers for me it's not all chestnut. It might be. Eek!

Side note:  I just noticed this journal thing. Is it intended literally as a journaling of your hobby and such?  If so I need to start one for myself! Maybe take the thread of rescuing the guppies, change the name, and expand it cause that fits.

If you go to Home, then Photos Videos Journal, you can click Start new Topic in there. Yep, it's for creating your very own journal!

Absolutely.  Things get lost to time in general discussion.  I have 3.  This one, a journey with a specific nutrient issue and my viviparus journal. I tell my stories and ask questions.  People who read answer my questions and already know my story and style. So I get more personalized help.  It’s also a great way to get to know folks a bit better interacting regularly, and for them to get to know me. It keeps all my info in one place and new folks just coming to the forum get a chance to know me and feel more at ease with me. Hopefully get a few dozen laughs along the way, and maybe see something they never thought to try that would be buried 30 pages back in general discussion.  I love journaling and try to encourage others ( @Chick-In-Of-TheSea) to journal so I can follow along and they can reap the same joy I have from the forum.

Totally excited right now about starting my own journal!  Gonna have to do that later!

I want to but every time I try the entire big thread shows up 🤪. Usually @Streetwise does it for me after I totally flub it up 🤣. I posted a computer help topic and at the end I asked how to make it look like underlined word instead of the whole thread so I can learn to do it and stop being a pest. No one has replied yet. Do you know how?  Can you explain it so a toddler could figure it out?  I’m always impressed when I can find the on button with tech things 🤣

It's easiest on the computer. But in your signature page, but then click on the little chain link icon 🔗 on the text editing banner.

Put the whole URL in the top, then the text you want displayed on the bottom "link text".

To many snail babies

This clutch was the one the snail ran over and smooshed. I only expected a handful to hatch. I was SO wrong. I’m guessing 40-50.4271C60E-5783-4DCE-8750-4ECF5F507FCB.jpeg.4f8e491f4db80cde2c1de315270197c1.jpeg6A7B0E81-F014-463A-B13F-7D79DB106C9C.jpeg.85befab90be224a30e5024b6c8268c91.jpeg39E8C0E6-C8DC-4E6F-89E3-3184C64231DA.jpeg.241e67c5681466ff7355eb835ac900e0.jpeg77CCEB42-02C3-4640-9D1E-2C9636965F65.jpeg.f7d2e5e51f47ebc813f8655b3684fff8.jpegFBF2B6A3-27B1-4B29-92BE-5BEB49BA3067.jpeg.be26b6f1dcf1053516f7760badb7592a.jpeg

I seen the inside ones seemed to not be able to escape from under the smooshed part so I crumbled it into the new tank.  As soon as I saw how many I knew a new tank without gobs of biofilm etc could not support them. Only being 5 gallons I would not feel saf3 keeping water quality with the amount of food I would have to add. Most are so small they look like flecks of egg shell or nano banquet block and quickly scurried under plants.  This is the first group I put in the funny tank  because they were conveniently on the food dish. It took forever to collect the rest of them out of the other tank  I used a coral feeder to siphon them up individually.  Funny visual…the new tank is only inches off floor the funny tank is is across the room on a stand.  Needless to say my butt and leg muscles are not pleased with me today  25+ or so squats to the floor and back up one snail at a time 🙄0012F495-8313-4411-98C7-09D06339F1E5.jpeg.77ed4e4073e6bd4c688fe48e64471bde.jpeg

I did have a container of excess frogbit on my window ledge that had a lovely dense diatom outbreak.  So I wiped the sides into the water, swished and dumped that in the new tank the day before they hatched. No go.  The frogbit in there was already established in my water so it hogged up all the nutrients and for the first time ever in a new tank I did not get the diatom outbreak. I even left the light on for 14 hours a day since setup. Had I wanted it to stay pristine it would have looked like a black water tank.

I took most of the babies out leaving 10 or so there and put them in the already ugly funny tank with the panda fry, shrimp, Ziggy and his compadre.

I really only hatched these to share with anyone here that wanted them in the trade section when they grow and my local club. Now I will be peddling magentas to anyone I can convince they are the perfect pet 🤣

HAPPY ADVENTURES…TRY SOMETHING NEW

Oh no! This makes me wonder... Can you break a clutch and only hatch part of it?

I don’t see why not. This one was smooshed by another snail running over it bit still hatched. Here is the clutch that yielded these.

Yeah when you said 40-50 I was thinking... 5 gallon tank?!  Um... Houston, we have a problem! 🙈

LOL!  Well now you get to have fun stocking the 5 gallon with something else later.  🙂  Silver lining!

You could always post on the Nextdoor app later on, if you have that.  Or do like I'm doing, run an ad in one of the really small town newspapers.

Because we can't tell by the pictures, how big are the snails?  I needed a magnifying glass at first to see ANY sort of details. Although I was able to see if they were traveling, without magnification. I just had to watch them for a few.  Seems like yours are a bit bigger than the sesame seeds that I had. To put it into perspective, mine could be sucked up into an irrigation syringe easily.  I also had trouble telling them apart from egg yolk.

I’ll check out the next door app I never heard of it. Thanks.

It's an app for the neighborhood.  A great way to connect with those that live around you.  There are other things on it like crime watch, lost & found, community events, and then a section where you can list things you are selling or putting down at the curb.  Plenty of times I put something at the curb, posted a thing on Nextdoor about it, and someone came by to pick it up.
