  1. I really like the design and joinery on the stands. Thoughtful with counter sinking the bolt heads to save width, I double stacked my ends which added an extra 3”. congrats on the new fish room!
  2. Don’t think I’d say expert only but for best chances their gonna need a well seasoned tank at a minimum. Both of these fish are the only ones i ever drip accumulate and real careful of startling them for first few days. beginner no but definitely need to research and they take extra care to set up good conditions. I have 20RN and 10C in QT now waiting to join the school in my 75G. Both are amazing fish. GL
  3. Enjoying my fishroom so much more, or should I say appreciate. (both 😃) Having time to stare at my tanks is so relaxing. Water changes and reg maintenance has become enjoyable again. Been working on organizing and was able to get some cabinet doors that were free due to a change of mind by the customer. Still need to paint them but that’s for another day. cab on right is storage for buckets, filter equipment, heaters, air supplies, meds, and more then on left is more storage, tools, food, and at bottom is my water changing set up. I have a small pump that gets water from my siphon bucket to another bucket in the cabinet. Then a large pump takes it through the wall to my sump pump in next room. Always evolving, such a wonderful aspect of this hobby. And always Atitagain
  4. 53.5 for me without the post count. Funny to think would’ve been well over 100 a year ago. Fun quiz! im definitely a nerm and proud of it 😎
  5. @Guppysnail GBR in the sunlight has to be so beautiful. This is a great example 👍
  6. When observing our tanks a lot of the time we see a morphing of our inhabitants. (I know maybe not truly a morph but that’s what I’m calling it forever) seeing a fish swim into a different lighting and the sparkling or colorful changes that happen is absolutely one of the best feelings in this hobby IMO. Or seeing them from different angles they can look totally different in their coloration. But how often do you have the camera ready and catch that with pics. Not video single frames or same fish different times. Pics taken in close succession of one another even taken at slightly different angles. i caught this this morning the lighting is just grow lights hung above pothos that come on a lot earlier than tank lights. 😀
  7. Thinking out loud “I should sell/ donate my extra tanks. This forum gets me so inspired I started thinking maybe just 1 more tank, 1 different fish, ect..” seriously tho it’s so nice to be enjoying leisure time with my aquariums. Will be focusing more energy on updating cabinets, organizing wires and cords, decorating, finish office space, and closing off window in room (way to drafty)
  8. 50-ish rummynose tetra 10- cardinal tetra 10- hatchet fish Add to your corys i had this set up in a 60G (without the hatchets) and absolutely loved it.
  9. @Beardedbillygoat1975 just went and looked at some of those aura blues, they are beautiful. I wasn’t really sure which way I was going but those blues have my attention!
  10. Would be great to see them all in there. Delay the otocinclus but I love Pygmy corys.
  11. Yea 2 canisters, duckweed don’t like to much flow. I remember that now and I do keep fairly high flow in most tanks. TY
  12. I’m really trying to adapt this philosophy, only keeping what absolutely interests me. It’s been great having the time to actually turn backlighting off and enjoy. Is this always wanting what you don’t have? I would go through this a lot, so I just got both, a few times. 😖 It’s weird I’ve never been able to keep duck weed alive for long periods. I heard Cory say most floating plants don’t like lids. Do you find this to be true? The tank I would want to try again in has a lid that i would not really want to remove. (My Oscar likes to splash a lot)
  13. Thank you. the rummy tank for sure, it’s been a long time and many renditions to get here.
  14. I added them Friday night and they all gathered above my circulator as I pushed them away this happened. Like you said seemed peaceful
  15. Very interesting take. Floor space restrictions would be another deterrent also much harder to talk wife into bigger purchases.
  16. so true Right, I don’t call my dogs a hobby “ yea this is Emma and Ella their boxers, they are a hobby of mine I’m a K9ist” such a chore without balance. Finding the sweet spot is an ongoing battle that must be reassessed (⬅️definitely had to look up the spelling on that one) frequently is my lesson learned.
  17. Fishroom is now office / fishroom. Took a big step back due to time management and burn-out. I now have 6 active aquariums. 3 show tanks, a cull tank, soon to be shrimp nano tank, and a QT I keep seeded with a few fish. 125 G 75 G 55 G Excited to start a shrimp only tank. I’m using a 9G Fluval tank, only just begun making serious plans.
  18. I was up to 23 tanks most of them I tried to keep in “show” condition but I had experiments, breeding, new to plants, and all the other stuff that goes along with so many aquariums to deal with. It was amazing learning and being successful in keeping them healthy. Then a big change within my family duties and major changes at work, ones that required many hours of research and experimentation at home. So something’s got to give but I was so stubborn to cut back on the aquariums and before long my entire fishroom was a mess. Even feedings we’re not being done as often as I was used to. Then I began to only feed and keep putting off the work. Weeks would go by without water changes or other maintenance. The burn-out was real, and to prideful to admit I couldn’t manage a healthy fishroom and keep other commitments as well. I finally cut back, over a couple weeks of spending most every available minute rearranging and re-homing I was down to 9. A week later the burn-out was still there even stronger now. Uggggg I was really into what I was training for at work and the two worlds collided, considered packing it up and leaving the hobby for awhile. I made another major cut and now I’m down to 3 aquariums and a cull tank. This was much easier to manage but I only felt relief. Inspiration comes in strange ways, a video about breeding rummynose tetra was in my suggestions I didn’t even watch went straight to my fishroom and felt the energy that has been missing. It’s been a couple months now and the balance has been restored. MTS is in my DNA.
