I love seeing roots like that, or in the substrate on front of tanks don’t know what it is. Even how you hang your plants (and I do some now TY) exposed roots look good as well. I think that’s why I like anubias so much. The repashy sticks are always a hit, that pic with the BN “line up, line up, everybody line up” sorry I have cartoon jingles bouncing in my head these days🤪and that one with the shrimp, is that 4 different types of shrimp on that one stick? Crazy

Such a treat to catch up with this wonderful journal. I needed this so badly! Thank you for all the fun shares! 😍

I’m so glad. I try to share good and bad but mostly I hope it is fun and makes folks laugh and smile and take a break from all the serious stuff for a moment.

I’ll have to take a video soon. They actually all scoot along the stick like a train. It is so comical. Usually the mystery snails join the train. I love exposed roots. It looks natural to me. Nature is not landscaped it higgly piggly and exposed roots. The shrimp are surprising these days. For awhile I went through a phase where 75% were wild. Now I have very few wild coloration but colors more vibrant than the originals I purchased are popping up. I have a few orange that are crazy. I don’t even see them that orange in advertisements. My reds even the legs are red. I have 1 green…never had green and several coal black. I have not seen blue in a bit and those are popping up too. It’s interesting the evolution of the colors. 1760C0CB-5364-4E5D-A4CC-2B2425C5F244.jpeg.8a725e72e7ca1c4b16900408337d3780.jpeg

HMMMMM…just noticed the long hard water mark. Guess I filled the tank a bit high at some point…I hope

My shrimp in the 125G had to be 250+ I’m just gonna let them go and see what happens. I will here and there get some that really look good and separate but I’m interested to see what happens.

With more conversations with the buyer they are a hobbiest breeder involved in local and online clubs. They do not sell online or in store only to their clubs trade/sell all for the love of the hobby. How awesome is that. I feel like my kiddos get to go to a high end boarding school 🤣🥰. Very awesome.
Today is transport day. My journey is and hour and the buyer’s journey is 1 1/2 hours so wish me luck. I tore apart all the tanks I had the oldest two groups spread out in yesterday. I put them all in the grow out so easier retrieval and bagging today. Dosed the baby tank with prime to ensure I didn’t overwhelm the tank overnight. Man those buggers are 💨 FAST slippery and sneaky. I ended up removing everything in each tank. Every time I thought I had them all I would clean up only to come back to one right on the front glass laughing at me 😆. I’m nervous since other than moving myself I’ve never transported fish more than 15 minutes. I taped the bag corners put padded envelopes on the bottom of the box and will further cushion with news paper.
Wish me luck and my babies a safe journey to a lovely future 🥰48081E6B-8891-44A3-A851-A9EE9E7DF072.jpeg.2607eb9e5cb9847308b49e1d5f360ff5.jpeg96DE5587-E746-4337-9438-C1A1C7D941F4.jpeg.0f394be0e78512ee3838eab3701a1e21.jpegFDBB9A46-D5ED-4D75-93B2-7CC1A66E009E.jpeg.0be8a2041eb11e5a0500e94c5ad50c0e.jpeg

Trasnsport update:
The transport was successful. The buyer was just an all around nice person. He was delighted with the quality of my babies 🥰. He had a good laugh at my packed lunch for them ( repashy on a stick, green beans and zucchini). I explained it was not that I felt he would not feed properly. But that I feel baby fish are a bit derpy and not the brightest bulbs in the pack. I was thinking it would help them feel comfortable quicker and locate his feeding location quicker, and because I felt like a mom sending her kids off to college 🙄🤪He texted me later in the day an gave a heartfelt thanks and that he really liked that I was considerate and I loved my fish enough to do that. After he got them settled and really looked at them he was delighted again with the quality. He offered me some of his super red BN pleco. He said he would just give them to me free for the asking 🤩. But I did the responsible thing and declined. I’m up to my 👀 eyeballs in BN pleco now. There is also something extra rewarding about fish born in my tanks being my inhabitants. He said he is excited for the last batch of mine and feels even more confident in them staying with me until they are a bit bigger for transport. 🥰

They also have a large reptile room, fur critter room, cat and dog section. Overall it’s a fun place. They have tons of really nice display tanks set up. That pet store is enormous! I hope you picked up some goodies while you were there.

Oh I got lots of goodies and 2-3 tiger lotus inspired by you. I’ll post picks later because I have questions for you specifically. He sell and trades through local clubs in his area. He says he has shipped in the past but it’s a pain so he does not do it often. I’m just glad they will get distributed through to serious aquarists and not be stuck in the pet store and dumped in an uncycled  tanks with plastic decor.
those pics are about 1/3 of the store only

Lefty is doing fabulous. I got some good pics of his fin. I moved him to the 20L guppy girl tank to be his home. 588F4EF0-CDE3-4A0A-9F46-92D6FC6E5240.jpeg.df7036b50ca26af46e031c17ea4ea827.jpeg78D7B6AB-55E7-465F-A508-5024D76DAF1D.jpeg.3778762f870a1197c340e0f4dbf552f0.jpeg

The pleco baby buyer was true to his word. Has already distributed some through his local club 6/$20. He selected 7 longfins for himself. It’s all about the love of the hobby 😁. He sent me a message to tell me how impressed with their quality they were. He is enamored with the shrimp I gave him.

Here is my plant haul. I got 2 tiger lotus each had a ball and 2-3 leaves but when I got home I think I had 3 maybe?  Two with ball and leaves 1 extra set with leaves and roots no ball. @Patrick_Gwill my extra survive without a ball? Lefty is looking good 💪 It sounds like you do well at moving your guppies. I need to work on finding avenues to do that so I can start breeding again. How do you make your plants that are laying out on the floor tied up look so much better than the best plant I have in any of my aquariums???
mom and dad eating from feeding trays always gets me🤣 is that the snail that’s almost as big as your fist? It is amazing and beautiful!

Your tanks, fish, plants, and especially you are such a positive inspiration. Thank you again for all the guidance and help you have gave me since my first post!

I’ve bought one plant without a bulb. It’s surviving but not growing much. Of the three I have with bulbs at least one has divided itself. The newly divided plant doesn’t have a bulb and it’s thriving. So I guess my answer is it depends on the plant.

They can survive without a bulb.  You’ll need to get some good nutrients in it for it to prosper, otherwise they just kind of sit there.  I would make certain to get those roots into a nutrient rich substrate.  They can make a new bulb but it takes a long time.  Make certain you don’t plant it too deep.  Leave ALL of the stems out and cover only the roots to just below where the leaf stems arise.

Nice haul, for sure!  Have fun!

Thank you. I think I will get more of the planter cups I put the AR in to give them a home. I was not certain what to do for them now I do 😁. Thank you. Yes good haul. This store only charges 3-5$ for most plants. Some crazy big ones are $15 but I don’t even have a tank large enough for those. It makes it reasonably affordable to try new plants.

The plants just do their things. If they do not prosper I try a different plant. Mother Nature gets all the credit for that one I really do nothing put place them and move them about until they find a happy place. Yes that is my big boy Caramel. He is my favorite and always nosey 🥰. Mom and Dad actually sit in their dishes if there is no food. Both face forward. Always reminds me of Oliver Twist 🤣

EXHAUSTED!

What a week. It all started…..

Hubby won a huge 65” TV from work. He got it home we put the feet on and realized the only piece of furniture in the house wide enough was the oak TV stand I put mom and dad plecos tank on 🤪. I got the 👀 look 🤣. Hubs got a new stand and couch??? 🙄. So this sparked gutting the living room finding new places for existing furniture and realizing we are simply out of room. Spring cleaning and organizing time. Hubby asked what I need to be able to combine both fish rooms in one. I said a 40 breeder setup and a 20l stand would do it. I got my Xmas present early 🤩

So rearranging every closet and storage the agreement was we were not holding onto anything we don’t use regularly to make room to get everything nonfish related out of my fish room. I’m about 1/2 done. I have until his next days off to finish and he is going to do all the heavy lifting to move my tanks where they need to be. Did I ever tell you I have the most AWESOME Non-fish husband a fish girl could ask for?
Tanks have been pretty much regular maintenance. I did order 8 more of the suction cup glass hanging planters. I’m using them to make a unique look in the new 40. All those plants I just bought that I really had nowhere to go with but really really liked now have a home.  please tell me I’m not the only one to buy plants and actually have nowhere to put them 🤣

NEW ADVENTURE BEGINS

I know the feeling, just rearranging some of mine that were in the same room uggggg. But if your going all in one room you should really consider the linear piston air pump. It’s kinda a hassle to set up but then it’s good for a long long time. I absolutely love mine.

good luck mate

Thanks. It’s definitely now on my list of items I would like to have but I’m sooooo in love with my COOP nano pumps I’m not sure I’ll ever make that move.

This is the story of my tank life!  I have no less than 4 plant holding tanks currently!

Once I get the 46 G bow front sorted out, it will be only 3 x 10 G’s with plants only.  But some of the biggest plants will be coming out of those to go in my 46.  I have a few other plans pending.  😆
