Do you have to travel far for the swap?

20 minutes.

Do you folks remember that small spider plant I bought last year?
It grew A LOT!  It grew into the two pots on either side as well and killed off my inchplants.

I figured I would root a few trimmings since the babies grew into my blinds.

Little did I know it was on a world domination quest.

Here is what’s left after baby trimming. I severed the connections to the two new pots as well. A31619D1-A79E-4301-94CC-C02DA2AADD5F.jpeg.1aa2cb3c8027b5985e942b0cbd230ec4.jpegF28A98A3-F647-436E-9AAA-152517352F5E.jpeg.d4395039f59bc1957457694b82204bd4.jpeg

Here is what was harvested 😲🤣11F0447C-EE37-4D6F-8C2C-1DF1477F0AEA.jpeg.f1fad0a25370b13bad05f986dadd3d86.jpeg

Went to the swap today. I got to meet @Miska and @Elodie Rose 🤗

I bought tons of plants.
(Not all for me playing pack mule for a friend @TeeJay😉🤣

I bought new fish. I don’t have a tank though.  I almost bought these from Jen S. Smallworld Aquatics two other times. My neighbor from the fish club was at the swap. He has been a cichlid guy for decades. He has a huge fish room. I asked him if I bought them would he hold them for a few months until I get a free tank. If they breed I’ll take a pair of babies if not I’ll take these. He happily agreed of course 🤣

@Guppysnail you are one very lucky lady, wished I lived near a club and fish swam or LFS ... I am always trying to find new plants to not kill, always have to order online ...

Exciting stuff. I wanted Pseudomugil gertrudae for in the White Wizard tank. They are so hard for me to find unless I have them shipped 😝

Went to the LFS today “for frogs crickets 🤣) and they had these pretty little ones. So I bought the 13 they had. I just put them in the tank so lights are dim. I’ll post videos once they settle in. They are still juveniles.

Well folks it looks like this is going to be a damselfly year. I found a pair mating on my water lettuce and 3 more that came in the house through the window while doing water changes. I run the hose out through the window so it has no screen.
There is a creek across from my house so I go through this every so often. Hubby said he has seen a few outside already while doing yard work.
So I’m going to have to buy lids for my fry tanks to deter the worst of them. 🤷‍♀️

There is something about your tanks that,

Besides fish giving birth to thousands,,,,,,,,,

Even bugs from outside fly in to mate in there.

Demon pets have been planted 😭😭😭😭😭

COME HERE LARVAES. I'M READY TO FIGHT AND PROTECT MY GUP

If these were dragon flies I would be flipping out those are demons. The damselflies really are not that bad. The are predators make no mistake but their favorite food is bladder snails and flat worms in my tanks. They are ambush predators and normally sit waiting under a log, in the substrate or a sponge filter. Only the slowest shrimp or fry would be bothered. The damselflies only really hunt if they are starving. Lazy 🤣

WOW! HOLY COW!

Look at this awesome damselfly nymph 🤩

He was in my little 5 gallon shrimp and snail tank.

I just put 4 more Psuedomugil luminatus in there for qt. I have 12 girls go figure. I’m hoping these are boys. The luminatus must have rousted him from his hiding place.
His wings are partially formed so he had to be in there for quite some time.
The green looks like he may be native to my area. I think I’ll set him up a tank and grow him out. 🥰

Late edit. Hubby was not as keen as I was to have insects growing that will eventually fly about the house so bye bye beautiful damselfly 😭🤣

I knew I had recently seen a dragonfly nymph post.  Cute little fella.  I just noticed this on the shrimp disease link you sent me.  Careful of the nymph w/ the skrimps!

You're from PA, and so am I.  It's "the crick".   Right?  😉

Yes that’s the local dialect. 10 years in Las Vegas and another 20 traveling I lost a lot of the common local pronunciation of things.

I miss going to Knoebels. Old school park, no admission, buy tix to ride stuff.  Was only 15 min from home and a great way to spend afternoons instead of sitting at home.

So the damselfly drama continues. I think I may have found #6 or I found another group. I had moved dwarf water lettuce from the tank with the damselfly a few months ago to the tank I put the first batch of Apisto fry in.
I turned the lights out about an hour ago and came back to watch the Apisto juveniles.
As I was watching the damselfly came out of hiding and beelined towards the surface. I’m assuming to ascend to have its final molt above the surface to take flight. It’s wingpads were fully formed and plump.
At the same time I spotted its mad dash so did my Apisto kids. 😔

The fastest hungry mob of piranha ever. It was so fast I could not even grab a net to rescue it. It was drawn and quartered in a second. Many tugs of war ensued over the pieces.
Very sad end for such a graceful creature.

Yes indeed the epitome of being both predator and prey.

If you have a ton of fry, nature has damselfly nymphs do a good job of ensuring the healthiest genetics carry on, without overpopulation becoming an issue.

The Patient Spouse™️ would not currently have such an overpopulated tank if the apartment complex had not replaced our screens.😅

This!  Apparently the damselfly was in there before I added my Apisto fry. That’s when I transferred the water lettuce. Even if it’s a new group to grow to adulthood it had to be in there.
If I am missing any Apisto fry that are now chunky monkey juveniles I can’t tell.
 🤗🥰

Such great finnage and patterns on these two.

They do have some taller options if you're trying to find something for him. Maybe the easiest thing is a clay pot upside down that has the door cut in.

These are the ones I like just because it's not a typical pot shaped thing.
