Fish Folk
It begins… flooding basement. Better off than we deserve. Much better than others.
Tihshho
Everyone has a flood of some sort in their lifetime. Just have to limit your multitasking and make sure to check taps before you leave the fish area if you're using a python. The kicker is when you have an unexpected sump flood... Those are not fun... **Edit** Well I'm a dummy, didn't correlate the title to the hurricane going on... Man this sucks. Happen to have any spare bags of substrate to use as sandbags to route the water away from your home? Guppysnail
I’m sorry you are getting hit with ida. I’m at the tail end 😟
Griznatch
So sorry about Ida, water damage is no joke. Hopefully it calms down, doesn't get any worse, and you can pump it out.
Kathy F
Sorry, I hope the damage isn't too bad. My sister and her husband live in Baton Rouge and are staying with us all week. Basically, they are waiting for the worst of the chaos to end so they can go home and survey for any possible damage to their property. Taco Playz
Sorry Fish Folk. Hope it doesn't ruin any of your wonderful tanks. Sending Prayers! 1

sudofish
My uncle's family is in Houma. They aren't allowed back yet to check damage but from everything I've seen Houma was pretty much lost. I feel for all the people affected by hurricanes. They got lucky in Katrina and didn't get any damage at all. He did get his cats out before he evacuated. 1

Brandon p
I hope that everyone makes through this and our fish are most of worries. Ira was hard on us and we lose power for for 2 weeks and most of of the non planted tanks did the best most tanks did well, that said I have fish mostly form central and

Tihshho
When it comes to water damage be sure to inspect it well, especially if you're a home owner and need to make an insurance claim. If you find it too late, you might not be covered by the policy or you might be risking issues with black mold.
Tanked
I don't know if Service Master will move that aquarium, but I do know you should keep an eye on that stand for a few weeks if it isn't solid wood. I hope you can get things back to normal quickly.
anewbie
The most dangerous thing that can happen is mold can develop under the rug; i'm not an expert on mold but some of them are not good for ones health....
Brandon p
Think it depends about moving the tank. I had a pipe break and my 125g had to be moved. They moved it as long as removed fish and water. The only thing big enough for the Pacu was the IG garden bath tub. Two things happened. I found new home for the Pacu( side note: I love Pacu but they should not be sold at most pet stores.) And my wife said no fish in the bath tub.I think with them being so busy it might be hard to do. If is you do insurance they should move it. Most policies have rules about aquariums and sizes and what is covered. Streetwise
If you try to clean Blu-Rays after flooding, don’t use hot water, or you will just wash off the disc graphics. I went all-digital for books and movies after Irene.
