This often used for discus but I have used it on my tanks. You do have to prepare your water a day or two before and a little goes a long way. Don’t add it to the tank directly. Seachem makes and acid buffer but I prefer this method. You will need to lower the dose from the discus amounts but I love it.

Yes they do I had never seen it before and would have answered this question differently a few days ago when it happened. Since then another pair of angels laid eggs on a pice of driftwood. The next day I saw them moving the eggs to the slate .

Every 2 weeks on the Amazon swords. They use lots of of root tabs so I try to keep on schedule. Also the plants where not a 100% when I put them in so a liitle extra is not go to hurt. In my other tanks that have big swords I do every 3 weeks.

I baffled! I posted a few days ago and there where eggs. Next day gone. Now wriggler are there after a few days. After the egg were missing to took down the make-shift barrier, because I thought the eggs were eaten by the parents. I was surprised when I when to feed tonightNow this is a different a pair but in the same community tank that the Platnums came from. I moved those to a breeding tank and these are the only angels left in this tank. I’m not sure the fry will make it. This is the first clutch for this pair and they are not as interested or aggressive went getting close as the others. Vaseline works on bio wheels but you you need the max flow. Once the filter starts to be any less efficient the wheels stop. Good grade lithium grease works to. Really not grease is ok as long as it says food safe

If you are use co-op brine yes it’s fine. Just try not to get the Gregg’s in with the shrimp. If you are using other brands most need to be separated.

I use wonder shell for two reasons that may not apply for you. I just don’t want everyone think I just keep raising the GH. One my fish breed like crazy after the wonder shell and I have very little Ca and most Mg. I would not use potassium carbonate. If you be very careful. The best option is to have fish that will deal with those conditions l. I have said I have simlair water I have discus, Angels, several pleco including “L333 and L134 and several others. I agree it will but why used chemicals when carbon will work. I have an extreme distrust in additives. I’m not did counting this and it will help clear it up faster. It’s maybe the answer first then go to carbon. I do trust you so if you are good with purism it can be part of the answer.

I miss understood the post. Growing your own food is easy and much better than buying. Mutt endlers or mutt guppies reproduce fast. I like Enders because the stay smaller and I can feed more types of fish.

For years I have been told that you can’t keep corys on gravel. We al know that’s not true because some many people do. I think the issue is not sand or gravel. The issue should be how sharp is the sand or gravel. There are lots of sands that are very sharp and can damage fish. In pest control some sands are so sharp they are used to kill insects by making microscopic cuts in the exoskeleton( if you want more detail message me) I’m going to go ahead an state that o would love to test all this but I’m using information that is common knowledge and fro the manufactures of some products mentioned. I going to go right after the big one pool filter sand. So many people use and claim it’s better than gravel for there corys. I can agree that it is better than sharp gravel for corys. However there are many different pool filter sands but most work the same as the silica ”Silica pool filter sand is the most commonly used type. It's inexpensive, easy to find, and can filter particles down to 20 microns, which is approximately 0.0008 inches. Silica sand is made with ground quartz, and it has rough edges to help trap particulates”. Rough edges. Rough edges are what people trying to get away from,correct? Do you want your corys digging and playing in rough edges. Zeolite offen used as pool filter sand, here is a microscopic photo of a piece of zeolite.There are several other types of pool filter”sand” like glass. Which speaks on its own. There is the thing pool filter sand works because it is sharp/rough. That’s how it grabs all the gunk from you pool. it’s not just pool filter sand lots of sand are sharp. Carbisea even has some of the sand that is sharp. There are great sands to use. Gravel is normally easier to determine it it’s sharp. You can feel and see gravel to tell. One super popular “gravel” eco- complete is sharp. Most river style rock is not because it has been rounded of over time by water. I’m writing this because I’m a little frustrated with every time the questions gets asked is it ok to put my Cory on gravel I hear no. Then almost inevitably the next thing is pool filter sand is better. It’s not better than round stones(the smaller the round stones the better). If you want to tell people sand is better I’m ok with that but at least learn a smooth sand so you can tell people the right thing. Corys are great fish and have basically lived on all substrates over the years. I have had corys over 30 years mostly on round gravel, but some on sand and now even coal slag. I have not had a fish that has lots barrels in gravel or sand. I have wood 20 years old that has been in the tank 20 years and there are still small amounts of tannins in a larger tank you can’t notice. So I don’t think you did any thing wrong. It’s a tan in rich peice of wood in a small tank. Carbon like I said before is really the only way to remove it. Floss will get bits of wood but not the actual tannins. There is a postive if you need one. Tannins have a natural anti-bacterial affect. So your fish should be healthy

I can’t wait to see this tank. When my 200 was up one one it’s iteration was the Amazon am this is by far my favorite. One question are you going all in with the ALTUM angelfish, Pterophyllum altum I have never had issues with the eco complete inbred corys on it but I see you point and it does address what I was just about to post. Corys and gravel. I would you be willing to go up to the next size. I don’t have the chart in from of me but I think there are several . The some CaribSea super naturals sand is actually known to be sharp but not all. If you have not made your mind up yet recommend Jungle River Sand or peace river. I perfer the piece river because it is much smoother an a little bigger that jungle river and that should help with any getting in filters. They don’t need less light. Neons can go with betta but they need to big enough not to get eaten. The betta will eat anything it can fit in there mouth.

On my 75 an one 55 I gave the finnex. The fine xx is nice because you can adjust the light down. Most people are thinking more light all the time and it’s not going to be necessary. @Jawjagrrlhas it right about the light intensity and the ability to change the colors you use. I had my Amazon tank in my 75 and used a the finnex. When I had my heat attack I lowed the maintenance of the peat to keep going. The wood is old the tank has been up 20 years so there is much tannins left.

To me take is a piece of art. Some people would kill to have water like that. Since I know not every likes what I do, I mean what’s wrong with people, right. Activated Carbon will help remove the color. That wood is going to release tannins for a long time and in a smaller tank it will show. What type of filter do you have. If you have a hang on back or canister put the carbon in a mesh bag. It’s really the only way I can saw you clearing it up. It should not really affect the plants unless the ph is getting low. Since I read you don’t have a hob you can cad the carbon in the tank next to the filter. I wish I could keep some of my tanks like that. Check parameters. It bothers me about the plants dying. That should not cause plant death.

Have you thought of using a shrimp tank filter. I have not tried it but thought it might be an option. A I selfish reason I want to have someone else try before me. I have no idea if this will work or anything is saw it when I was bored I not think these will as much help but ideas

Ok I had a question about the guppies that are in this tank. They are called 24 ct guppies they Are not as gold as the pictures look they are shades of yellow. This is all the same fish. He will change based on mood and stress. Sometimes he has a nice orange tail spot as seen below. If you can’t see fish I prior photos posted I will look for some tat show better.
