  1. I’m in sure if I have ever glued anything dry for my tanks. I like to normally to se how things look in the water first and then take it out and glue.
  2. I buy most of my tanks used. Everbody is spot on, with everything, being a LFS they my not want to full and show you it hold water. If they don’t at least get them to get you time to check as long as the glass is not broken you should be fine. Since you don’t know how it was treated and if the y are aggressive Algae surfers and run the blade right into the the silicone in the edge I would redo them. @Wet Elbowsis spot on. I use black. I think it shows less with water in the tank. But it’s hard to get over the mental thought of not using clear. I would try to look at one first to be sure you like that look and if you can’t go with what you want I don’t want you to be unhappy. I saw lots of the custom tanks I was looking as and really liked it
  3. Regular super glue is fine it the same as at the pet store. Use the the gel type super glue then using because it drys different but perfectly safe
  4. I had to remove the fry from the platinum parents. I fell asleep about 7ish. And woke 9ish and when to check on things. The power is out so I’m in there with the the head lamp. The power being out is an everyday thing with the afternoon storms. A pole or transformer is bound to get hit. Most of the time it’s out 1-2 mins sometimes 15min but it was out at 5 and is just coming back on. So the very first tank I check is the the platinum tank. PANIC there is a dead fish. But all the fry are fine. I can see none of the fish look happy. And it shouldn’t be the power out. I just tested the tanks yesterday and everything was fine. So tested in the dark and the zeros of yesterday are gone. The nitrate and nitrites are very high. So emergency water change. Wait not power and I’m on a well. So I hade to 5 gallon jugs of water for the water machine. So did 10 gallons of a 75g but the fish look better and they are going to have to wait until the morning. I’m going to have to do a second water change tomorrow. So since I took the fry out I was going to take the makeshift divider down. No! The parents flat out attack the other two angels in there. So I m going to put one pair in a bin tomorrow that has guppies in it. So now I’ll be down to 2 angelfish in the 75. As soon as I finish the the lights come on. Now once the water heater gets some hot water I’m going to shower and lay back down. It was bad because it was one of those sleeps that you fall asleep for a few hours and wake up and think it’s morning. I think I know why thought. I ordered some food like I alllways do and they sent a new product to try. I feed some in that tank because it has some other fish that would probably eat it. I didn’t put much in but I noticed that there was still some pellets left. That’s the only hing I can think of.
  5. Sorry she ate them so fast I didn’t have time to take better video. I with fix it up tomorrow better on the computer I think it is set on 240ppi and I cant that on the phone. The power is out right now and has been fore a few hours.
  6. She is eating the eggs. In tune up the the video tomorrow it has been storming here for hours and the power has been off 2. The male is trying to fertilize them. They have been a pair and had several successful hatches.
  7. What is going on here. She just laid and I when back by and she is eating them
  8. What is happening? Why? I walked by and she had laid a ton of eggs and he was doing his thing. I came back and saw this.
  9. @Chick-In-Of-TheSea the other reason that pictures are taken of the fish out of water is color washes out when they get in other water of just caught and moved in a specimen container here is the difference the yellow fish is the same
  10. It was no worst then netting them and waking a cross the room. I is not uncommon that fish are shown out of the water. I would not have been able to them without removing them from the water. They are breed in black tubs. I would have loved to show them in the water because they look so much better. It’s not an uncommon practice.
  11. I think he will do fine. Over the years I have a had a few totally bind fish and they did fine so just having one eye will be ok. Watch when you feed just to make sure he is getting some food. As long as he is getting some he will be fine.
  12. So one pair, the unknown pair decided that me turning off the power head off was a bad idea. I woke this morning and no eggs. I guess I won’t turn of the power on the other side of the tank because that pair laid last night.
  13. It was sort of an old movie so I wasn’t sure if anyone would get it but I thought the picture was good
  14. He is running as fast as he can. Papa is defensive and chases them away. He was like the snails in the movie Turbo.
  15. I talked to a friend that breeds guppies and he said that cooling the tank by 3 degrees and feed less.
  16. Wow that’s a lot of information. I cycle my tank by getting feeder fish and putting them in and feeding them for a month or 2 and not touching it.
  17. That stinks I get paid .50 per for the ones in the picture and .15 for the one I’ll post here. I can bring in as many as I want they are much better looking in the water there blue , green and sparkle Only the biggest ones. I have some med sized ones in withe some angelfish.
  18. Sell them on eBay.I’m joking but I sell the males to the lfs as regular fish. The females look good as well but they go in the feeder fish.
  19. I place two near the Amazon swords as in my experience Amazon swords use a lot of fertilizer. The jungle val get one. They are not placed right next to the roots but about 1.5” away. The tabs are placed every two weeks for the Amazon swords and once monthly for the jungle val. I do try to place the the tabs on each side of the the Amazon swords and keep them away from the jungle val. They are at a depth close 1/2”. The Amazon sword are growing quickly and sending some roots up out of the substrate. I have trimmed most of those roots to encourage downward growth. With these Amazon swords I could put the tabs under them in this tank now, but in past experience I can’t get the tabs under larger Amazon swords. I think of it like this, most new roots the thin white roots are what do most of the nutrient uptake so placing the to the side od the plant should give you better uptake of nutrients than placing them underneath. I’m not sure if you have ever been told hold to fertilize trees(past work, not everyone should know) but you put the fertilizer down around the dripline. That’s where the water drips down at the edge of the tree. I do that with some plants and others you can’t with others. The tabs go much closer to the jungle val. There is a different root system on the jungle val. It is much smaller and sends out runners. So placing the tabs closer to the plants is more reasonable. I personally am worried that if I put one under the jungle val that I might did lodge the plant. The bigger the roots are I would put the tabs out from the base. Experience helps and some homework help.
  20. We have amazing tanks here in Florida and sometimes the issue is things are new they tried and failed at huge tanks and they want to sell them for the same as they paid. It not everyone that has a place for 400-800 gal tanks. And they sit and sit. The 125g to 220 are the ones in demand and come most of the time just like they came from custom tanks.com. I see lots of custom tanks.com. I have not had one so I can’t say how they are. I’m looking for two more 50 gal tanks used and they want to much.
  21. I have 6 breeding pairs of angelfish. Right now 2 have fry, 2 have eggs, one is clean a spot to lay and the last nothing. One pair is a double black, platinum pearl scale, platinum, marble, and one that I don’t remember. Platinum community PH: 6.8 nitrate:0 nitrite:0 ammonia:0 ( hopefully that will come up some I fertilized) Kh:0 GH:300+ (test kit doesn’t go higher) Fry even though it looks like algae this is the pair I don’t know what they are they were sold as blue blushers. best parents fry tank for the double black
