It would also depend on what type of plants you have in your tank, some would do well, some would suffer. Whenever plants suffer algae gains the upper hand, someone will use the nutrients. Most folks only consider time, brightness, fertilizer dosing, and maybe CO2, and water changes; what they forget to consider are the different color wavelengths of light (most plants prefer red and amber, algae love all but especially blue because it doesn't do much for plants), and the needs of individual plant species, as in low, high, medium light, temperatures where they thrive, or might just only exist, and of course root tabs and trace minerals. Tweaking all of these factors is a never ending endeavor, just when you think you have figured it all out something will throw you a loop and have you puzzled, and sometimes you find out that a fish, or shrimp share your affinity for a particular plant but just in a more nutritional way.

@Trish by all means go ahead, I don't mind, if I wouldn't have wanted to share them and have you enjoy them I wouldn't have posted them but I do appreciate you asking. When I still had a photography web site I had people steal photos by the dozens and try to sell them to stock photo companies which I then had to inform that I had copyrighted all the stolen inventory with the U.S. copyright agency and they had to cease and desist from selling them at which point I also quit my web site. However, everything I post here I am comfortable with having it downloaded and for members to have it for their enjoyment. I feel honored that you would want it on your desktop. The eggs won't hatch but that doesn't stop the Nerites from laying them.

Bingo - welcome to the wonderful world of invertebrate 'bedazzlers'. The only habit of theirs that I'm not overly thrilled about since the eggs aren't viable in freshwater and never hatch but seem to last forever.

Hard to tell without a size frame of reference. I know my Nerite snails' eggs look sort of oblong like that and get deposited by them everywhere, and in any crack they can find.

...and yet people take them home and expect they will clean their tanks of algae. 😁
