As I was hunting for drift wood last weekend I was finding a gold shell looking clam. I'm think I might go back and get some to put in one of my tanks. I have read they do well in help keeping the water filter ( filter feeders and eat particles from the water) , not sure if true or not but I think I will find out. I'm still reading up on them though.... any info yall would like to share would be great

Hello All, Does anyone know what type of clams these are? All I know about them is that they are cold tolerant and able to survive in ponds with ice. I am looking for help to get a name or a latin name on these guys.

Hey everyone. I have a decent sized fahaka probably around 8-10" now. He's passed clam shell pieces several times even though sometimes some hangs out for a while. Im getting nervous this time it looks like there may be a whole half of a clamshell stuck in not protruding out of his rear yet but I can see the silhouette in the back of his stomach at his rear end. Its been like this for a week, he's acting fairly normal, do I keep waiting this out or try to do something? Thanks!

Ok so I've heard clams can help keep your tank clean they seem like and interesting addition to a tank but I've heard they can be dangerous If they die while buried. My tank is a 125 gallon somewhat heavily planted and I plan to eventually have snails shrimp neon tetras platies and guppies. What are your thoughts on clams in a setup like that? And have any of you had good experiences with freshwater clams?
