  1. i see males, and females in there, so little doubt you will soon be on your way to a guppy population explosion.
  2. id start with a half pump, or as close as you can get to that. no two tanks are exactly the same, depending on quantity and type of plants you may need more or less. shoot for about half pump, and monitor it either with test strips or just watch how the plants grow/react over a few weeks, and adjust your dose if needed.
  3. it should look fantastic as the plants begin to fill in.
  4. anything in the tank with a surface for them to be on, is where they are. about the only thin in an aquarium that has little to no beneficial bacteria is the water itself.
  5. welcome to the forum. best advise is to pick out a fish you like, then go from there.
  6. any of the super glue gels. brand isnt really important.
  7. there is much truth to this, but even the fake ones can give BB a lot of surface area to grow on.
  8. if multiple trips through the washing machine didnt dislodge the gunk, id replace them. on the new ones, just up how often you clean them.
  9. 2 is okay, more is better. looks like you have a relatively new tank, so here's what i would do. get the 2 cory's. give it a few days to a week, then get 2-4 more, wait a few days or a week, then get the tetras. slowly adding, especially in a new tank will give the bacteria level time to adjust to the new bio-load. just dumping in 20 fish in a fresh tank can overwhelm the beneficial bacteria, and cause ammonia spikes etc.
  10. welcome to the forum. heres my theory on fertilizing.. reading nitrates is ok, but the real question is, do the plants look good. if they are green, healthy, and growing then you're doing enough fertilizer. if they arent, then the nitrate readings give you a measure of where you are. if plants are not happy looking, and you have 5 nitrates, add a bit more fertilizer and get the number up a little, then watch the plants for a week or three, and adjust from there. the 1 pump per 10gal, 1x a week is a baseline average.
  11. in my garage, its a conventional gabled roof, so i glued and screwed the foam boards to the undersides of the rafter joists. your insulated ceiling has to be below the soffit vents if you have them, or it wouldnt do any good.
  12. cant say ive ever seen all black endlers. i did have some a while back where i got some males where the back half was almost all black, so anything is possible with enough breeding.
  13. as mentioned, reduce the amount of food, and a handful of assassin snails will help to keep the population in check.
  14. i know almost nothing of goldfish, but do know that some strains will change color as they mature.
  15. i have the same success with banana plant, they die.
