  1. most heaters are not super reliable. i personally dont trust them to not cook fish.
  2. welcome to the forum. if the fish is sick, head down to the disease subforum. someone will most likely be able to lend a hand.
  3. mopani will stay down. it is a very dense wood. lots of woods need a good soak, not mopani, it goes down and stays there.
  4. id toss it, plenty of tannins left in that wood.
  5. mine grow them now and then. my bn plecos love to eat the center out of them.
  6. its typically that they can hold for 4 batches, but ya know nature, it isnt exactly consistant.
  7. welcome to the forum. sorry cant help you with store hours.
  8. i use a dremel to trim that stuff to fit. that stuff is tough to hand cut, well hand cut and not look like you were having a seizure when doing so.
  9. the whole deal with tanks with plants and lights is finding the balance of light, and nutrients. pretty much no tank needs more than 8 hours of light. the thing is finding how long to leave the light on, pick a length of time, 6, 7, or 8 hours and monitor it for a week or two and see how much new algae grows. if you still grow a lot of algae, cut it back another half hour, etc. no matter what, you will always grow some algae, so find where you limit the algae growth, and still keep your plants growing.
  10. this was the 2nd annual xmas tree drag race.
  11. salt is a good start, ichx or similar are great. as mentioned do a good cleaning, especially a gravel/substrate vac, as thats where the ich spores lay.
  12. cut the light down to 6-8 hours a day will go a long way to slowing down the algae. clown pleco's arent big algae eaters, they like to nibble on wood more, so it likely wont do much for the issue.
  13. i would venture a guess that an air pocket found its way out there.
  14. im no fish doctor, but probably a week and a half away. +/- a week!
  15. glad you caught it, probably wasnt too much longer before they were cooked. if its just shrimp, snails, and guppies, room temperature is probably just fine.
  16. i got a co-op towel in the forum giveaway thing the other week. i count it as my xmas gift.
  17. groups are better, but i have had them as singles, and they did just fine.
  18. at 1/2", i might stick them in with the green neons for a few months. just to be on the safe side.
