  1. I've done a few, but I'm cheap. I just buy felt from Walmart and silicone it to the back. Then I just superglue plants to the felt. Cheap and easy!
  2. It kinda looks like a Japanese peace lily to me....
  3. Anubias and java fern can take some salt. Bacopa too. The thing about plants in brackish, is that they have to be acclimated to it.....
  4. I've had them in aquariums, and I also have some outside in pots. They are supposed to do well in ponds. I've also been playing with bald cypress trees in aquariums. Those grow a little too well in aquariums. Nice part is that they bonsai really well and grow relatively quickly compared to mangroves....
  5. Here's a small drystart failure that turned into another terrarium....
  6. My fave is the Schismatoglottis and the bolbitis ferns. They're technically aquarium plants, but they've grown like GANGBUSTERS since I planted them in there....
  7. This is my in ground pond i dug last year. I swear there is a pond under all that vegetation! Pro tip: don't grow any vining cucubrits around your pond. They will go in the water and you'll never see your fish again....
  8. I have a submerged power filter on my bichir tank. The filter puts out a strong current, with the fish don't appreciate. To slow the flow, I put a spraybar on the outflow. Then I slip some filter sponges over the spray bar. I figure bacteria can grow on those sponges, and as a bonus, the sponges slow down the bubbles from the venturi valve the filter has. My thinking is the longer these small bubbles are in the water, the more gas exchange will happen. The scuds and crayfish babies like grazing on the biofilm too....
  9. Here's another one. The back is covered in oakleaf creeping fig...its a terrible picture
  10. I actually have three pink flamingo crypts and a bunch of lucens crypts. Yeah, I pretty much winged it. I just bought some black felt from Walmart, cut it to size and silicone it to the back. Power filter with some pex tubing for a spray bar in the back along the top. Thats pretty much it. Once the water is going the plants kinda stick to the felt. I put riccia, java moss, java ferns, and some buce in there. They all had to be small so they wouldn't fall off.
  11. Hello all, I've ways been fascinated by green walls and drip walls. I figured plants would do well in these kinds of environments, given how they are mostly emergent types. This particular tank has been going for about 3 months. My plan is to add some leaf litter and floating plants to the water area. Maybe get some clown killies....
  12. I have some pieces in my 120 gal with my bichirs and rope fish. Haven't noticed any problems. Aside from the snails and the crayfish eating off the bark. I've also found melaleuca and ceanothus wood to work wonderfully in aquariums....
