  1. I should mention that the tea should be allowed to sit for awhile, not only for it to cool, but it will also darken and steep more during that time. I use 2-3 almond leaves per pot of boiling water. Once it boils cover and remove from heat and let it set for a few hours. Then dechlorinate. @Chickenlgs
  2. Yep! I keep mine in the fridge. I don’t think you have to, but it makes me feel better to refrigerate it.
  3. you can make it up, cut it into cubes, and freeze it.
  4. The bottle does have an expiration date on it; I checked mine earlier today to be sure it was still within the date.
  5. Yes, your axolotl will greatly benefit from indian almond leaves. These have antifungal and antibacterial properties. You can boil them and make a "tea" and pour that into the water, as well as add the leaves to the bottom of the tank. Be sure to dechlorinate your "tea" also.
  6. Those reflective sun shades for cars work well to insulate tanks. I learned that on Girl Talks Fish.
  7. I made Repashy today and the tetras are so dumb, they ignored it. So I had to peel pieces off to make it like flakes that would float around, then they ate it. 🙄 I gave Geppetto a bite sized piece as an experiment, and CHOMP! It was history as soon as it hit the water. Not sure it’s a good betta food, but perhaps on occasion a little bite.
  8. The Bolivian ram journal is in my signature line below. That fish has a lot of personality!
  9. This can’t be a baby. This is just as big as the adult males. What do you guys think about the mandibles? Do they seem reddish-orange based on the 2nd video or do you think that is something else (food)? Also, my purchased shrimplet is still in there. Shrimplet is like a gray color. Shrimplet is smaller than this guy. I was able to compare them. I just purchased 4 shrimp. They must have given me one that was not blue and I didn’t inspect close enough.
  10. So, I have blue dream shrimp. That’s all I have, that’s all I bought. Then…. who is this guy?! He is a black shrimp! Also, it looks like he has reddish mandibles. I don’t think that is food based on how it moves. I’m confused?! I sure hope this is not a juvenile crayfish or something. @Minanora @nabokovfan87 @Guppysnail Also Button & Nibbles climbing slate mountain. I didn’t feed anything today except banquet block.
  11. Nope, just gravel vac as you would a tank without one. Easy.
  12. Funny, I just noticed a snail sleeping in my plant too. She was very well hidden.
  13. UGFs work well, as they pull waste down past the gravel, and the gravel and UGF plates house beneficial bacteria. But people are now going w/ planted tanks, and the UGF is not a good pick for a planted tank, because you want to keep nutrients (root tabs) next to the roots, and with gravel and UGFs that doesn't work; there is too much flow underneath the substrate. Therefore the plants suffer. I have a UGF in my tank, but I disconnected it by removing the riser tubes and covering the holes w/ gravel, then leaving the existing gravel as mulmy as possible (plant food) and adding a 2" sand cap (Thanks, Father Fish). The sand provides extra filtration for the tank with layers of anerobic and aerobic bacteria, as well as helps keep the plant roots and root tabs in place until they reach the gravel where the roots will find more (mulm) food. The sand also encourages microfauna which live there and help to consume excess waste. Folks using the easy planter should do ok w/ the UGF, because they can open up the rock wool and place their root tab in there, then return the plant to its pot, and the pot to the easy planter.
  14. Yes, I've been following that (somewhat) - I missed the last episode; I need to catch up. That's a massive tank! LOL, all the snails at the top with their snorkels out because you stirred up the mulm. 🤣
  15. Here is the update on Geppetto. Saturday - Today: Not wanting to dump a bunch of medication in at once and not know what worked, I was planning on doing a phased treatment. So this is just 1 T salt per 5 gal. Plus the usual tannins from the almond leaves. @Karen B. how is your betta doing? Did you see the question about your parameters?
  16. The bubble remained on him for 12 hours, then it finally popped when his fin brushed against decor. BIZARRE!!! …why me lol
