  1. Thanks! So looking at my tank setup, should I change something or it’s ok fir the gourami? There is a hide on the left. He can also swim behind the plant on the back left. I will but another anubia or two to place with the one on the cholla week too. As for floating plants, I am not sure as I am using the cheap lights that come with the tank starter kit that’s inside the lid so it’s probably too close to the water and would burn the plants.
  2. My 10 gallons is done cycling, think I am almost satisfied with the decoration, now it’s time to stock it. Yes I know, it’s mostly plastic plants but I am doing tests to see if I can grow real ones (I have killed a cactus before. That’s how skilled I am). I am a libra and I think I change my mind almost every hours about what fishes I want. I am not asking for stocking ideas, I have watched all the videos. I am just trying to find the best option vs the setup of my tank. pH about 7.6, 0/0/5, temp whatever I want (I have a heater) The fish I would like to get the most is a honey gourami... but would the setup be ok for it? I read it prefers jungle-like setup... I would feel bad forcing a fish to live some place it doesn’t thrive. If I go with the Honey gourami, I would pair him most likely with 5-6 guppies... but are they too energetic for the gourami? Otherwise there is the Beta option but once again I do not feel my tank setup is ideal for a beta? Or all guppies...? Help. Libra don’t do decisions making very well 😅😅😅
  3. The dad and 2 babies have been living together in my 20 gallons, plastic plants and decor, with an air stone and aqueon quietflow 20 filter with 12 White Cloud Mountain minnows. I add the turtle shaped calcium block every month. Temp : 68-70 f, pH : 7.6, 0/0/10, gh : 10-11, kh : 4 A month ago, the dad looked dead. Laying on it’s side. He had spasms then would stretch. It seemed like he was trying to molt but was unable to. It lasted a day. After that he was really slow and clumsy for a week. Then another day of spasms. He still failed to molt, was clumsy and is still slower then he used to be he walks around, eat, climb my plants. His color changed to light orange with dark spots here and there. 3 days ago, my smallest and most submissive baby started doing the same. As if it wasn’t able to molt. But weird thing is he wouldn’t hide. He just layed motionless in the middle of the aquarium. He never molted but seemed to be fine after 2 days - he walked around, ate, etc. Today I came home to that baby dead right in the middle again. With its sibling eating its antenna. I don’t know if they got into a fight (I see no damage) or if he died of a failed molt or something else
  4. Thank you @Cory for the confirmation ☺️ Once again, I wasn’t saying it was the cause of death. Just double checking everything to figure out where I went wrong! @Wel-Don Tanks Thanks! I really didn’t think it was the culprit but just wanted to make sure as it said shrimp safe but nothing about crayfish
  5. Greetings I lost a baby mexicain dwarf crayfish today (😭😭😭) and I am trying to figure out what may have caused it. I forgot to make sure - is easy green safe for dwarf crayfish? I assumed it was as it’s shrimps safe. Not saying it’s what killed it btw, just trying to eliminate causes. Thank you!
  6. So I have this tiny White Cloud Minnow that is absolutely stunning... but such a bully! He terrorizes the 12 other minnows in the tank. Yesterday they were all crammed in one corner of the 20 gallons and he wouldn’t let them move. I named him Jaws! I gave him his final warning yesterday but he did not listen (must be a teenager!) He is all alone in his 10 gallons now. 2 weeks ago I had removed him from the tank, rescaped and moved him back but peace lasted only for 2 weeks. Not too sure what I will do with him. They are schooling fish and not meant to be alone. Yet it stresses my fish so much when I try to catch him with a net that I am not sure if I want to try to put him back in the main tank in a couple of weeks. Because if it fails and I must net him again... My fish are startled by everything. Even the glass magnet sends them in a frenzy... 😖
  7. @CoryIs it worth quarantining the fish to treat with salt or just leave it as is and it will heal by itself? (In Canada. No meds. And with crayfish so no salt in the tank) thank you for answering so much.
  8. @Cory I apologize for tagging you specifically but am pretty desperate... starting to think I am a bad fish keeper and should give up. Do you think it’s fungus?😖
  9. You are very welcome to read this article then. Fish Medication Ban in Canada - The Goldfish Council THEGOLDFISHCOUNCIL.ORG fish-medication-ban-in-canada
  10. So you do think it would be fongus? My tank has been running with the current setup/stocking for a month. I can’t use salt as I have crayfish. And in Canada we do not have any type of medication. So if you are positive it is fongus I would have to move him alone in a hospital tank.
  11. There is one tiny little white ish discolored spot on the back of my white cloud mountain minnow and I would like to make sure it is not a fongus or any other type of disease? it doesn’t seem to be raised or hairy. The quality of the pictures is not amazing but these fish aren’t the easiest to photograph 😖 20 gallons with 13 WCMM and 3 cpo (dwarf crayfish) 68 F pH 7.6 0/0/10 gH 10 kH 4 Aqueon quietflow 20 Have an air stone.
  12. @Phill DHello! If it’s a dwarf crayfish (cambarellus patzcuarensis), then there is nothing to fear for your plants. As for other fish, while I wouldn’t keep them with bottom dwellers, slow fish or fishes with long fin, otherwise there shouldn’t be any problem- I have 3 with my 14 White Cloud Mountain Minnows and the minnows harass my crayfish more then the opposite. 🤪 The crayfish are a bit slow. But be aware that regarding the blue dwarf crayfish, you have to keep them in a pH lower then 6.5 or else they will revert to a more brownish color.
  13. /drumrolls Aquarium Co-op Easy Green! To all of you unimpressed Américain, just know that for a Canadian, this is a very precious item. It’s just such a bummer to buy it and know there is no chance for a stickers. 😭 Karen
  14. @akconklin Hello! I do hope you get one again. They are so adorable. As far as food goes, I think the most important advice I can give you is to make sure to feed them with food dedicated to them specifically. For exemple, CrabCuisine from Hikari, or algea wafer. The fish won’t be able to steal it. it’s a bit harder when I feed frozen food like bloodworms and the like. The fishes go crazy but one solution is to put some directly to the bottom of the aquarium, or in a cave. I sometimes use a pipette and feed them directly one bloodworm each, to be sure they ate. Also, I THINK it’s ok to overfeed your fish a little bit when you have a scavenger so it can pick bits and pieces all around the aquarium.
  15. @AubreyYes! Mine do that too, it’s absolutely hilarious. I made a birthday card out of Henri doing it... 🤪
  16. Anyone else have Mexicain dwarf crayfish? They are so full of personality. Here is the dad (Henri II) with his daughter (born August first). And a picture of her when she was few days old. 🥰
  17. @Cory Thank you, I will try that. Otherwise, could it be that they are injuring themselves on the plastic plants? 😕
  18. Hellllp! This is my tank, a 20 gallons with 13 white cloud minnows. Temp about 68 f. Fake plants/decoration. There is a lot of agression and chasing around amongst my white cloud minnows. So much so that many are missing fins/half a tail, etc. I remember @Cory saying they were very peaceful ... obviously they did not get the memo!! 😅 More seriously, am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do to reduce agression? It’s often the same one causing the agression. Should I rehome it? Such a shame, it’s my prettiest one 😔
  19. Thank you everyone. I started a war with this topic on a corydoras FB group... you should see people arguing... It’s so nice to be on a forum that gives actual answer. @Phill DThank you for your very thorough answer - it’s really helpful
  20. @MickS77 Thanks! He actually talks about the ideas I want the most... but only 4 panda cory? I tough they were better in group of 6 and more... 🤔
  21. Greetings! I currently have a 20 gallons with 3 orange dwarf mexicain crayfish (cpo) and 13 1/2 white cloud minnows (one is in quarantine. Not sure he will make it) I also have a 10 gallons cycling and I can’t quite decide what I want in it! I was very ill advised for the 20 gallons and don’t want to repeat the experience. And yes I am doing my research but it seem there is always one answer and it’s opposite about everything 😭 Tank is 10 gallons, pH about 7.6. I have a heater. Aqueon HOB 10 filter, air stone, Plastic plants, rocks, cholla wood, moss balls, flourite black. I might try to grow few plants/moss if possible with the cheap led light in the lid? I would love a gourami. (Honey? A female blue powder?). I dream of having corydoras (panda or julii or albino, not a fan of the pigmy) but afraid the tank is too small for a school of them? Plus my substrate is not sand... Not really a fans of tetra/danios Maybe guppy or platy or molly? (All male, no breeding). And if I can’t go with cory... what bottom dwellers? Shrimps would be eaten by the gourami... too small for hillsteam loach... So... what are your toughts? Any idea/suggestions? Do you think gourami + cory would be ok? It’s important for me that my fish thrive and doesn’t suffer just for my own enjoyment. Thank you!
  22. @CoryThe studio will be awesome! I hope you aren’t making as many changes in the house 😅🤪 Is the house and the studio on the same property? That is a huge land!
  23. @Fish are Friends not Food Thank you so very much for your detailed answer! It sure will help me make the best choice! @JerseyBundy Thank you so much for letting me know. I hope it’s going to work for me as well!
  24. Becky, the Cavalier King Charles. 🥰
  25. Greetings! I bought the Marina 10 gallons aquarium LED kit. My substrate is flourite black. Can the LED light included in the lid grow any live plants and/or moss? I will use the aquarium for 5-6 guppies and cherry shrimps. My hope would be to grow a carpet of moss using 2 meshes tied together so the shrimps can hide in it. Is it possible with that light? If yes, should I use fertilizer/root tabs, anything? Any other type of plants, moss or floating plants could grow? Thank you! Karen
