  1. I once again got angry with USPS when I looked at tracking for my Co-op order (5 plants and a sponge filter, woohoo!) and saw "In transit, arriving late." grrrrr
  2. I gave this one a laugh, but the fisherman in me is screaming RAINBOW TROUT!!!! (Which, coincidentally, is also very tasty when grilled!)
  3. I started this in the plant section because I was asking about the plants, but now I have other updates and questions, and I'm a bit worried I'm in the wrong section! I got several orders from Amazon today, including an Aqueon flat heater and NICREW clip on light and air pump. Sometime early next week, I'm looking forward to my next Co-op fix, with a small sponge filter, 2 Water Sprites, a java fern to attach to the stump, a crypt wendtii and a crypt wendtii green. Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Looking ahead, I know I'm targeting a betta, and will likely troll my local stores until I find one I can't live without. My question... should I stock a cleanup crem of a kuhli loach or two? I saw they are Asian, but don't know if that would overtax the 6 gallon, or if they'd get along with the betta.
  4. So, I recently bought a 6 gallon cube, and I'm liking the idea of turning it into a small biome for a single betta to love and thrive. I know Java ferns are native to Asia, but what other plants would be ideal for me to put in. The tank is not that big, but I'd like to heavily plant it for the little guy. My plan is to use a Co-op sponge filter for filtration, planted tank substrate, a preset heater, and a planted tank light. What plants other than Java ferns would fit the Asian theme?
  5. Discovered a massive half-off sale at a local box store for rimless, frameless, and other designer aquariums. I don't want to break a rule, so I won't name the box store here, but let's just say it rhymes with "Let go," which my wallet did... and I ended up with this 6 gallon frameless cube for half off to fill an empty spot in my house. Now to take my time piecing together parts to get it running, get in another order from the co-op for a new sponge filter and some plants, and host another C.A.R.E. forum on what should live in this nice little foot long cube. My three main choices at this point are some white clouds, a betta, or a sparkling gourami. The gourami is my favorite, but I have very hard water and I've read they prefer soft.
  6. @Hobbit, are you near blackwater? Is that where that is?
  7. Felt like the tank was too crowded, and was procrastinating on some schoolwork, so I did a water change and took out some plants and one of my driftwood.
  8. Saw some strange activity in my home tank. Looked at my amazon sword, and my koi angel rubbing against it. GOT REALLY EXCITED!!!!
  9. I've always thought that was called that a filter. 😉
  10. I did the same thing. It took a few days, and some water changes, but all my fishy friends are still alive and well, unfazed by my bad move.
  11. I got on tonight to ask this very question! For some reason, I thought that I had heard you could refrigerate them, so when I finished my first batch of BBS yesterday, I put them into a tupperware and stuck them in the fridge. This morning, they were a layer on the bottom of the tupperware. Lesson learned.
  12. And now I can come up with new ways to use the other supplies I have in excess!
  13. So USPS slowed me down a few days, but WOW! This package was so much more than I expected, and matched so great with my other order! Thanks so much to Cory, and all the Co-opers, and to everyone on the forum.
  14. Cried a little when I saw that my TWO packages from ACO were delayed, and were not coming in today's mail. Stoopid USPS!
  15. Mine is scheduled here tomorrow! Had to scroll past fast so I didn't spoil it! I also have a separate order from the co-op coming tomorrow, so it will be a big unboxing!
  16. I couldn't help but notice that @Lizzie Block is listed as "The Quiet Type," because she only talks when she wants to make some people's WEEK!
  17. Thanks for the tip! I remember reading that in past months, but would have definitely opened to see what Cory was up to without thinking about it.
  18. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I was just sitting around at work, getting paid to surf the forum, and I SEE MY NAME AS A WINNER!!! I shall treasure it, and you all, forever and always! So excited to see what comes!
  19. There have GOT to be memes with him in aquariums! Maybe with Murphy?
  20. But can you imagine the Seachem Prime you'd go through every time you flush the toilet? Although, it does cut out the middle man of having to kill the fish before you flush them, eh?
  21. I would imagine only for brackish water shrimp, due to the salt content in the peanut butter.
