  1. plants do a lot of good things for an aquarium. makes it much more of a biological entity other than just a box of water with fish in it.
  2. i would use something like a giant mouse pad. made of rubber , they will get wet but not allow water to seep through. as a bonus the thin rubber mouse pad will help to conform to any irregularities in the surface that you put the tank on. a good coat of wax all over the furniture can also help giving you a chance to wipe off any errant water before it can harm the finish.
  3. the little bitty ones will eat just about anything the parents will. also, if you dont desire them to keep breeding you have to remove anything they can use as a cave.
  4. on a smaller budget than finnex, i have a few different hyger's im happy with.
  5. 6 hrs normally isnt bad unless its some serious lighting. is it all over things, or just plants that have grown up close to the light source?
  6. i store tanks outside in my shed, heat or cold has not been a problem.
  7. those will be fine, even most small gravel is perfectly harmless. stuff that is very sharp can cause them problems though.
  8. probably too much light. how many hours a day do you have the light on?
  9. better than 50/50 they got a tasty red snack.
  10. im fairly certain we have a few, but welcome to the forum.
  11. some i prune, some i leave, but i do pick out ones that have died and are floating around.
  12. good question which i cant give you a good answer to. had a friend who kept 1 in a community tank for the sole purpose of snail elimination. beyond that, im not very qualified to comment. im an assassin snail kinda guy myself.
  13. clown loaches will take out snails. assassin snails are also a great way to go if you dont want a snail eating fish.
  14. co-op has pretty nice plants, and well they provide this forum for us, so worth supporting them.
  15. nerites are great choice if you want snails, as they wont reproduce. they just leave little hard white eggs all over.
  16. cool, buying a first home is a nerve wracking thing. brings with it much responsibility, but also much freedom to do what you want in your home.
  17. it is of course ideal not to introduce such things into the aquarium, however it will most likely cause no harm.
  18. but do you do the gopher dance when you hear im alright.. ?🤪
  19. for years i didnt do anything other than maybe splash some api leafzone in maybe once a month. now i do use root tabs and easygreen, but im not on any set schedule.
  20. i start the water back into the tank, then while water is going in i add dechlorinator to the tank right near the mouth of the python. i dont think it makes much difference if you add before or during.
  21. easy green and roots tabs are good stuff. im sure the iron is too, but use up your leafzone first before buying more iron, as that is primarily an iron supplement.
  22. environment can definately cause a fishes color to change slightly.
  23. work, sleep, drill, real casualty. not too much screw off time under way.
