  1. those are a hair too deep. you want roots in the substrate, but not the rhizome.
  2. glad its over for you, moving bites the big one. ive always kept my moves short distance, but even a few miles is a pain in the rear.
  3. that looks like a piece of the rhizome pointing upward, with roots shooting back down looking for a place to root.
  4. the nano pump should more than handle the sponge filter, and they are quiet. i have 1 in my bedroom, and cant hear it run.
  5. if they dont have a cave or dark place to hide in, they wont breed.
  6. looks like a case of the plant herpes. i have no idea what it is.
  7. plants do a lot of good things for an aquarium. makes it much more of a biological entity other than just a box of water with fish in it.
  8. i would use something like a giant mouse pad. made of rubber , they will get wet but not allow water to seep through. as a bonus the thin rubber mouse pad will help to conform to any irregularities in the surface that you put the tank on. a good coat of wax all over the furniture can also help giving you a chance to wipe off any errant water before it can harm the finish.
  9. the little bitty ones will eat just about anything the parents will. also, if you dont desire them to keep breeding you have to remove anything they can use as a cave.
  10. on a smaller budget than finnex, i have a few different hyger's im happy with.
  11. 6 hrs normally isnt bad unless its some serious lighting. is it all over things, or just plants that have grown up close to the light source?
  12. i store tanks outside in my shed, heat or cold has not been a problem.
  13. those will be fine, even most small gravel is perfectly harmless. stuff that is very sharp can cause them problems though.
  14. probably too much light. how many hours a day do you have the light on?
  15. better than 50/50 they got a tasty red snack.
  16. im fairly certain we have a few, but welcome to the forum.
  17. some i prune, some i leave, but i do pick out ones that have died and are floating around.
  18. good question which i cant give you a good answer to. had a friend who kept 1 in a community tank for the sole purpose of snail elimination. beyond that, im not very qualified to comment. im an assassin snail kinda guy myself.
  19. clown loaches will take out snails. assassin snails are also a great way to go if you dont want a snail eating fish.
