How many sponge filters needed for a 20 gallon long?
Streetwise replied to JenTheDroid's topic in General Discussion
With enough plants, this is a choice of flow, and visual impact. -
I took that photo with the sun by holding my phone beyond the corner of the building. Please do not look into the sun.

Alternative Nitrate Reduction via Emergents
Streetwise replied to dasaltemelosguy's topic in Photos, Videos & Journals
Lots of cool information here! I like rubber plant cuttings in some of my tanks. The waxy coating inhibits rot underwater. -

Undergravel Filter and Aquascaping
Streetwise replied to Tombeaux's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
I haven’t used UGFs since my youth. With air, they would probably pull some mulm into the gravel, and trap some under it. With a canister, you might pull it all out. I think sponge filters are a nice solution for moving water, but keeping mulm. I’m not picky about maintenance, because I like keeping the nutrients in my aquariums, but there are many ways to run tanks. -

Decaying plant material is plant food. Tannins are good.
-
You could potentially use one for 2.4, and another for 5. However, most APs will let you run multiple SSIDs.
-
No Purigen for me, ever again. It is a microplastic media with a bleach-based recharging cycle.
-
Let me know if you need more help. I run over a hundred access points for work. I provide one 5 GHz SSID with all the modern features and channels enabled. I run a secondary 2.4 GHz SSID with legacy features to support older devices. In home environments, I might use a single SSID with band-steering to push modern clients to 5 GHz. I don’t do mixed networks in high-density environments, because 2.4 will be ‘louder’, with more bars, even if it provides less bandwidth. There are many non-interfering 5 GHz channels, but only three for 2.4 GHz.

I feed a mix of foods to satisfy every layer of each aquarium.

I love these notifications: Hello Jason, Your order has arrived. Please bring it inside as soon as you can if you have live plants. Check your mailbox and by your door. If you can't find your package, look at other entrances to your house and anywhere the delivery person may have tried to hide your package out of site. If you have multiple packages coming, sometimes they are delivered on different days. Check your order tracking below. Sometimes delivery notices arrive before a package actually arrives, we ask customers wait 24 hours to see if the delivery person brings it the next day and also check with your neighbors for an incorrect delivery.

I didn’t watch the previous video all the way before posting. The break was a surprise! I haven’t seen this failure before. Here is a cool drone video of RS Aeros:

You certainly have enough plants to make it work!
-
My plants should be here from the Co-Op soon. I noticed 2-3 earthworms still living in the tank when I refilled after the move. Organic topsoil provides some ongoing surprises!

For iPhone photos, I use the grid, and always line up one or more axes. I think of shots in terms of drafting: one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective.

@Torrey, I could see if my folks have any stories from there. Maine is a beautiful place to sail. I watch inspiring sailing videos during the off-season:
