    Congratulations on your snaibies! 😃 I’ll be interested to know what happens with your trumpet snail colors experiment. I really like mine but I haven’t really noticed different colorations. They don’t come out at the same time and usually not close together. I’ll pay attention from now on!

    Thank you for the information and links @Henrico Coltri! And what a coincidence - I spent a while last night trying to learn about fish parasites. When I first started putting together my fish wishlist, Pea Puffers were close to the top. Then I found out that they’re especially vulnerable to parasites. A couple days ago on another forum topic here, it was again brought up. I got to wondering if it were possible to raise “clean snails” somehow in case they were the main carriers of the parasites. So last night I tried to find out. WELL! 😱If anyone reading this is faint of heart at disgusting stuff, don’t research fish parasites!!! 🤣 It is interesting but once you’ve got it in your head … yikes! Having said that, I’m going to read the links you’ve provided because, well, it is interesting 🤪and important as well. Here is a quick paper on all the possible kinds. So, anyway, I can’t really answer any of those questions definitively, but for #2 I’d say, no. No we can never totally rid the fish of parasites because there’s just too many kinds and too many ways they can get them. (Just my guess.) But hopefully, and this is also just a guess, by keeping them as healthy as possible, their immune systems will be able to deal with it better. What I can say definitively, is that whenever I get any fish they will always be going through a parasite treatment and I will always have treatment options on hand to use from the very first sign of trouble!

    Your puffers must be really happy! 😃 They’re just as cute as the little ones. Do these big ones have the same bad times with worms/parasites as the little pea puffers do?

    @Guppysnail I used to set my hermit crabs aquarium on part of a cardboard box in the winter, then cut up the rest of the box and tape it around three sides. It helped keep him warmer along with the heat mat he always had attached to one side. (I keep the apt about 72 and he liked to be at least 78.) It’s surprising how much heat goes out through the glass.

    I’m sorry you’re having such a hard time with Spike and I hope he pulls through! i was wondering, how is the one that your friend took? Is it having problems too? Maybe he is dealing with something that happened to him at the fish store.

    Pomegranate looks so happy and healthy! I bet she’s really enjoying the renovation on her land area too. 😃 Is she part of the vampire crab family? Your tanks are looking good and that angelfish is stunning!

    Thank you! That is very interesting and I really love the idea that they’re happy and jumping for joy or playing! 😃I used to go fishing 😱🤣with my brother and we always thought that they were trying to catch bugs when they were jumping.

    What do your folks think? Maybe they can reassure you about the floor. Are they interested in fish at all? Maybe they would let you have a bigger tank in the living room or something, then you could keep the two smaller ones for breeding. 😃 I don’t have any fish (yet) and don’t plan to do any breeding when I do get some, but if I was going to, I would want two tanks for either separating fry, or keep one as just in case QT. Write down the pros & cons of each choice. Maybe that will make the decision easier. 😃

    @Biotope Biologist, I was just reading in another thread where you mention that, “… fish get really comfortable in these enclosures (shallow) with emergent plants. They feel safe and happy which means that even fish not considered jumpers will breach.” I was wondering, if they’re happy, why do they do that? Are they playing? How do you tell if it’s happy jumping and not from something they don’t like in the tank? I really like your shallow tank! 😃 I notice that the netting is only a few inches around the edges. Do the fish usually only want to jump in those areas? Anyone else have fish jumping experiences we beginners can learn from? On a side note, would the small cichlids like Dorsigera and the Bolivian Rams do well in a longer but shallower tank? I really like those emergent plants! (no fish yet, still learning 🤪)

    Those are lovely plecos and I’m happy for you that you didn’t have to re-home them!😃 Thanks for sharing. I only have snails and shrimp right now, but I’m learning so much from posts like yours for when I am finally able to get some fish.

    @Chick-In-Of-TheSea that is very neat! I love my crows. I put out soaked up dog food and I believe they have a scout watching for me each morning. They show up soon after I put it out. They also recognize my car from the other apartment residents and when I drive in from somewhere, sometimes they will come over into the trees to see if I’m going to put anything else out for them. 😃That’s really something how they follow your cars! I didn’t realize they do that. Do they ever leave things for you? Mine don’t for me, but it would be very neat! I’ve read about them doing so for other people who feed them. I’m just thrilled that when I go out & theyre nearby, they’ll come over into the trees near me! 😃

    Is this better for the fish compared to a fan blowing on the surface? Also, does water temperature determining gender apply to most/all fish? (And maybe frogs and crabs?🤪) Which, warmer or cooler, for each gender?

    I was wondering whether always feeding snails raises the probability of recurring worms in any fish that likes to eat them? I’ve read that snails often carry parasites and I’m equating that to the same idea of outdoor cats having higher chance of getting worms from eating live prey. Would there be any way to treat snails for any parasites they may have and then raise all clean snails from then on for puffers and other fish that enjoy them for dinner?

    Congratulations! 😃 I’ve just been reading about Pygmy and dwarf size corydoras. After watching all the various videos and hearing how entertaining they are, I decided I need to put them on my list. I looked into the larger sizes first, but I’ve also decided that a 20 gallon tank will be my largest, so thought the smaller ones will be a better option for me. Have you seen the C. gracilis? Those are the ones I like the best. I like the tans more than the grays. But when I looked them up, first of all, they’re hard to find. Secondly - phew do they cost a lot! Hopefully in the future they’ll get more popular and prices will come down. Anyway, I’m sure they’ll do great for you. You seem to have a blue thumb! 🤣 I look forward to hearing more about them in the future!

    Nice tanks, looks like happy fish! 😃 I wouldn’t say there’s too many plants, but I see what you mean about having a hard time making sure everyone is ok. I guess maybe the best answer is what is your own comfort level with the number of plants? Your hatchet fish are very pretty. Is that green actual body color or a reflection from the plants?

    I was researching small waterproof fans both for summer cooling if necessary since I don’t have AC, and for possible paludarium. As happens, I got off on a tangent. 🤷‍♀️🤪 This discussion is talking about terrestrial frogs, calcium and vitamins, and I was wondering: 1. How do you make sure an aquatic frog is getting enough nutrition since you can’t dust the food? Can you feed their live foods so they are better quality? Or can you get them to eat a piece of repashy mix? 2. In a captive diet, would the danger of too much Vitamin A (or any other) be likely, or would a deficiency of something be more worrisome? I’ve added ADFs to my wish list along with freshwater crabs, as you may have guessed. 🤪

    I hope you can find a good one at Lowe’s so they will install it for you! But just in case, I wanted to mention that my daughter has a fifth wheel & it has an RO system. Maybe an RV supply place could help you out? Sorry I don’t know anything else about it.

    Thanks @Guppysnail I have the pothocarry but it’s not enclosed like that, they’re open in front sorta like a clamp like idea. I guess I didn’t notice the ones in that image. They would for sure work better!
