Honestly I haven't seen any since I was a kid.  In Pennsylvania.

I have the walking sticks in my yard every year. They like my arborvitae trees.

Your kids look like dried leaves. Oak, Maple, Elm (Elmer)

I’m careful to not bring yard things in. I worry about parasites in her tank. Knowing my little 🐷 girl it would be lunch anyway

I've seen people put things from lakes etc in their fish tanks.  But then Lav from Lav's snails ended up with snail leeches in 8 tanks.  She had collected something from a pond or something - anyway the medicines in the hobby wouldn't kill them.  It ended up disastrous for her and she had to shut down her snail breeding business for a while.

@TeeJay has your daughter got any name ideas for two stick insects? 😂

I vote one of them, I'll let you decide which, looks like a Splinter.  🙂

Apart from that, my stick insects have arrived! I picked them up from a guy who had 100s in a 12” (30cm)  cube terrarium (correct me if I’m wrong with conversions! ). He now has 2998 left. 😜 These ones get around that 17 cm mark, so they make for a great show. New party trick? 😂

thats huge! 6 inches!

Visually it is impossible to tell a Copes from a standard Northeastern. The way to tell them apart is by their singing. She is a girl and does not sing. So I don’t know. I found her in a bag of dirt I bought at the local nursery. When I opened it there she was. Smaller than my thumbnail.

I think there is a second way, I don’t remember it from the top of my head, it may be microscopic and highly intrusive

Mine are around 4 weeks old and 1 1/2 inch long 😁

Correction: The female stick insect (Mopani) has decided it’s high time to add on another 3/4 of length: 23BE7801-7CD8-4EE0-BA39-80209C86CBF2.jpeg.9b682e9c2e1f0105585d21e322b88656.jpeg

I’ve got a dilemma: Betta or Killifish for the 15 gallon? Both would work, but I’m leaning towards killis as they’re something new…but bettas are just so cool…argh! What’s your opinion?

I’m loving killifish lately but not ready for any so I vote that so I can live through you!

Killi, just because Bettas can be so hit or miss.
