  1. Ok thanks, I have an old 50 gallon which should do fine. What kind of equipment would I need, @LaloJ?
  2. A pH of 6.2 - 6.5 helps to bring them into breeding “mood “. If you feed lots of live foods at the recommended pH, the females may begin to from eggs over a month or so, alternatively you sadly ended up with a group of only males! Look at the YouTube channel KeepingFishSimple, he has done a whole video on breeding L134s
  3. I know that this is a freshwater forum, but I expect that a lot of fish keepers migrate between different kinds of water throughout the hobby. I’ve kept freshwater aquariums for the past 3 years and I have got a bit starved for choice in the freshwater selection of my LFS. Therefore I have decided to convert one of my aquariums (17 gallon) to a reef tank. Do you have any recommendations for a novice saltwater aquarist? (Equipment, species, etc..?)
  4. Try introducing some more females to curb his aggression from 1 to several individual(s).
  5. Try a leopard bush fish, they eat small prey, have fun markings; and love hiding in between plants.
  6. I’ve done that kind of setup but with red flame tetras and it worked out fine. Just keep a good watch on the pH
  7. If you want it get rid of the snails, try cleaning away any eggs you see. Placing a piece of cucumber on the substrate and collecting the snails off it can eliminate at least 80 % of them at once.
  8. It always surprises me how intricate nature can be; look at the markings in his back. Good Luck with the massive aquarium, @Cory.
  9. In theory a filter less aquarium is a bit like an indoor pond.
  10. Hasn’t @Fish Folk done a post with a fish with Rainbow Shiner-ish fish which are red and yellow?
  11. Look at Keeping Fish Simple on YouTube, he has bred a TON of CPDs Best of luck
  12. Here in Switzerland my LFS will pay me 5 $ for a fish that sells for 12$ (converted CHF to USD)
  13. A good alternative to RO water is rainwater - just saying. I wonder if KFS is on this forum?
  14. Random one here: African Butterfly Fish as their eggs float on top of the water and they hardly ever venture into the bottom half of the tank.
  15. A nice big Anubia surrounded by a carpet of small plants is always a crowd pleaser.
  16. I started a fish club at my school, we already have 30 members!
  17. More shells may help reduce aggression. Introducing more females will give them something other to focus on.
  18. I'm with you on the rock, wild stones are worth searching for if it saves you 20 bucks
  19. I don't have a degree in ethics, but (in my opinion) GloFish are fine as long as they're kept in aquaria. However if they escape into the wild (e.g. Pythons in the Everglades), their creators and vendors must assume full responsibility because they knowingly created that fish.
  20. Since Blood parrots are a hybrid and supposedly can't breed, it looks more like a fungus.
  21. Most common (e.g. easily found in a pet shop) livebearers are bulletproof.
