  1. We’ll that is certainly no A.Cacatuoides! The swimming vertically etc sounds like territorial behavior. @Guppysnail, I hope you don’t mind if I tag you, but you can probably tell the species of these fish better that I can ! (I’ve only kept Agassizii, Borelli, Mcmasteri, and Cacatuoides)
  2. Beautiful fish! What’s the minimum tank size btw?
  3. @rockfisher, the ACO team wrote a blog article on that about 3-4 months ago.
  4. What species are they? A male is usually the one about 1.5 times the size of the female.
  5. The Montezuma Swordtail!!! Very cool fish, the difference to a normal swordtail is a longer and more horizontal sword, very popular here in Europe because of their iridescence and silver colour. Message me if you need any help, @memorywrangler!
  6. They look so much like baked beans!!! @BAT, did you spill your lunch in there? Looks like snail eggs to me on a serious note.
  7. If you can, I would quarantine plants plants for about a week if you're really paranoid.
  8. Should the C.A.R.E. forum host a best fish/shrimp/plant photo competition? Just putting it out there to see if the idea is popular.
  9. Welcome to the forum! (Do you code in Python or JavaScript?)
  10. The Male A.Agassizii: The Female BN pleco before and after spawning:
  11. If you want some with: -Fun schooling: Rummy-nose tetras -Cool breeding behaviour: Splash tetras -Color: Neon tetras or diamond tetras -Contrast against plants: Green fire tetras Really fun to play with: Diamondhead neons (see below) or Congo tetras.
  12. It doesn't make much of a difference to be honest, just look out for rot on the bottom; otherwise it's smooth sailing.
  13. The BN plecos have just spawned, the Apistos seem to be clearing up the roof of the little cave I gave them. I'll upload a couple of photos tomorrow.
  14. @anitstuk, are you trying to give me the curse of the convict cichlids? 🙃 The tank I'm using is a 25 long, so the Oscars may be a bit cramped! The reason why I'm using a 25 gallon because most people (like me) don't have the space for a 120 gallon for a pair of Oscars and Convicts. @Zenzo; what would you say the minimum size is for an experiment like the one that @anitstuk suggested? Here's the current look of the corner with an Apisto cave behind the plants. I put the cardinals and neons in as dither fish.
  15. Just introduced the fish to the breeding aquarium. pH: 6.7 BN plecos pair: one albino female and one 'normal' male. I'll note the sex ratio of the young and do the same attempt with an albino male and a 'normal' female to verify the differences. A. Agassizii pair: Well fed and conditioned (live black worms and BBS), seem to be compatible.
  16. It would be so cool if you managed to breed a sort of half black half koi swordtail! Good Luck.
  17. Good work finding that @Fish Folk! It would be lying to say she had a passion for aquariums, but at least she liked them.
  18. Hello everyone, I just thought it might be fun to start a journal. Expect a post each week. Today I added a new platinum angelfish to my 63 gallon, and sold 20 of my cherry barb babes. In the coming week I'm going to experiment with breeding BN plecos and Apistogramma Agassizii in the same aquarium. I'm thinking about doing a variety of combos like this to help those who (like me) have to make the most of the space possible to them. What combo should I try next? (Arowanas are not on the cards🙃) Have a nice day.
  19. I agree with @OutBout, assasin snails would be the easiest way to deal with the problem.
