  1. Hey fellow Nerms, got a few questions, I’m attempting to make a spray bar for my 75 gallon tank with a fluval 306 cannister. I have 1/2 inch pvc and I watched Cory and Deans video on making a spray bar and they said I believe to start with 1/8” holes and Dean drilled them 1 inch apart. Does the size of the spray bar matter on the distance between holes and size of them? I have a 24” piece for the bar itself but not sure if I was going to keep all of it or cut it down. Also I believe in a live stream Cory mentioned if you wanted to cut your flow in the water to point the spray bar to the back wall of the aquarium. Now I like this because I use a Fluval E series heater and need flow through it or it beeps low flow.( currently have an air stone dropped behind it). Can I have most of the holes pointed towards the back and drill a few on the other side to point to top of water for surface aggitation? I just want to do it right the first time if all possible 😂
  2. I was curious if anyone knows the diameter of the rubber adapter for the output for the fluval 306? I want to attempt to make a spray bar but am unsure on the size of pvc to buy and don’t want to take my output apart just to get a measurement. I tried looking online but am having difficulty finding it.
  3. Do apistos need a cave if there are hiding spots in my tank?
  4. I have no experience with apistos , are they aggressive when they have fry?
  5. I was curious if people think an apistogramma would work in my community tank. It’s a 75 heavy planted . Current stock 8 rainbows,10 Congo tetras, 20 cardinals, 24 ember tetras, 6 green neon rasboras, 6 swabwa barbs,6 green fire tetras, 6 Cory’s, 2 bristlenose plecos and crap ton of snails. I have read they can work in community tanks. And if so a male or female? I’m assuming a pair would be a bad idea though
  6. So I can’t get Bolivian rams to continuously eat and they keep dying on me. I started with 7, quarantined them then added to my community tank. I over feed the tank a little just to make sure they get food but they rarely eat. I’m down to 2 left. Then I bought 4 more, quarantined them and put them into a tank of their own and same thing. Won’t eat , have one left there. I feed , frozen brine shrimp, xtreme krill flakes, xtreme nano sinking pellets, and repashy community food . These are the only fish I ever had that keep dying on me and don’t know what else to do but give up and stop buying them. Any advice?
  7. If you suspect one of your fish in your community tank possibly has the very beginning of ich what would you do? Try to remove it to a quarantine tank, treat the whole tank or wait to see if it gets worse? Currently it’s the only fish I see it on and do have ich x .
  8. I bought a group of Bolivian rams last week and one of thems back tail is smaller. I don’t think it’s fungus cause nothing has grown and have treated the tank with the quarantine trio. Wondering if it’s tail got chewed up from where it came or maybe a birth defect? It seems completely .. any thoughts?
  9. I have a 75 gallon plated tank with rainbows bolivian rams cardinals ember tetras green fire tetras swabwa rasboras Green neon rasboras was thinking of adding a school of Congo tetras to this tank. Will my other fish , mostly the smaller ones be safe with Congo’s?
  10. I recently bought some Boesemani Rainbows. I have xtreme krill flakes, vibra bites, frozen brine shrimp and then ordered some hikiari micro pellets for food. What does everyone feed their rainbows and is this food ok for them ?
  11. Parameters are good. 0 ammonia and nitrite and 20 nitrate. It’s a 75 gallon and dose 8 pumps of easy green on weekend and 4 pumps mid week
  12. My scarlet temple had been growing like wildfire but my issue Is the leaves turn dirty looking and get holes. Do I have a deficiency or could my snails be eating them? At a loss. All my other plants are fine except the leaf from the red melon sword in picture
  13. I bought 6 Bolivian rams for my 75 and have them in a 10 gallon quarantining . A couple of them are pretty skinny and I never see them eat. I feed them daily but have Malaysian trumpet snails in that tank so if they are not eating they would be eating the food. Found one dead today( one of the skinny ones) on day 4 of quarantine. I’m feeding flakes, vibra bites and frozen brine shrimp. Any suggestions?
  14. I have a 75 gallon heavier planted community tank with cardinal tetras ember tetras green fire tetras green neon rasboras rummynose rasboras bolivian rams corys Iam looking for a mid to top dwelling schooling fish to finish off stocking. I’m leaning towards some species of Rainbows but would like to know if there is anything else I’m not thinking of that might work with my current stock.
  15. Ok so I was looking closely at my fish today and noticed two are missing an eye. I got them all in January and never noticed it before but maybe they were like that because they were small. I don’t have aggressive fish that I’m aware of. Is there a disease that makes fish lose eyes? current stock is 6 fire green tetras ( 1 missing an eye) 20 cardinal tetras ( 1 missing and eye) 24 ember tetras 6 neon green rasboras 6 rummy nose rasboras 2 albino bristlenose plecos 6 emerald green Cory’s 1 Siamese algae eater bunch of snails (mystery, nerite, rams horn, mts)
  16. Would I run into problems with aggression towards my other fish if they breed?
  17. So I have a 75 gallon heavier planted tank with cardinal tetras, ember tetras, and some rasboras. Want to add to it and had some suggestions of rainbows and Bolivian rams. Would Bolivian rams and rainbows work with my current fish? I know anything is possible I’m just nervous of getting them and waking up and all my tetras and rasboras gone with the rams and rainbows with full bellies . I guess I’m looking for possible reassurance that this combination is doable 😂
  18. I have a 75 gallon heavier planted tank with a school of cardinal tetras and a school of ember tetras. Is there any type of “bigger” fish I can put with them that won’t eat them like angels, rainbows etc.. I also have a few shrimp in the tank and this will be harder I’m imagining but maybe something that won’t eat shrimp as well .
  19. I have a 75 gallon community tank with cardinal tetras, ember tetras, green neon and rummy nose rasboras and I was thinking of adding guppies. Will this work?
  20. 65 gallon. May have to try to get them out I just wanted them to raise them but if there going to continue to have more that might not be possible
  21. So I have a breeding pair of Gold Saums (green terrors) and they had their first spawn a little over 2 weeks ago and now they have another. Think the original fry will be safe in there? They haven’t ate any that I know of yet.
  22. Yeah there are lots of hiding spots. I’m sure they are in there . I’m just have been driving myself crazy trying to count them with all the other fish and is almost impossible 😂just didn’t seem like there were 24 anymore. Thank you
  23. I have 5 emerald green Cory’s in a 75 gallon with 24 ember tetras. It’s hard to try to count them all but I looks like I could be short some and haven’t found dead bodies. Other tank mates are cardinal tetras, swabwa barb, kubotai rasboras, green fire tetras, Siamese algae eater and bristlenose plecos. It’s entirely possible they are in there, my tank is heavily planted but would Cory’s eat them?
  24. Sounds like a good excuse to set up another tank 😁 just saying 😂 I keep different substrates ( sand and gravel) I used in other tanks in 5 gallon buckets for when I want to switch stuff up or set up another tank but it’s up to you
