You and me both. I was notorious for doing that with the different food containers....until my wife started helping me feed and she couldnt handle that and made a special shelf for all the food.
I get what your saying but the width difference between the nano and the large is 1 inch side to side and front to back. Really isnt that much of a difference. The other thing I thought of was you can use a bigger sponge in a smaller tank but not the other way around without needing more.
Heated ...lol Thats our coldest winter day here. Cold water species are never happening in my house unfortunately. Started reading on those darters and oooops cold water. I guess ill just look at pictures.
I always oversize my sponges as well. I run larges in all my 10 and 20 gallon tanks and the mediums in my 5 gallon. Overkill I'm sure but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I also have "extra spare filters throughout the fish room in case I ever need a fully cycled tank immediately.
DO NOT DO WATER CHANGES!!
Water changes during the initial cycle actually slows down the process. Just let it go and do its thing and in no time you'll be ready for its first inhabitants.
How will you separate the shrimp fry from the adults?
I have a shrimp colony going and it is just one 20 gallon tank bare bottom with sponge filter, guppy grass and shrimp. There are adults and babies and everything in between everywhere.
I have 2 PGO i got from the COOP months ago. The are in a 5 gallon tall cube growing very well and tall still in their pots. I am about to cut some right off the top and take the pieces and float them on other tanks because I know they will grow well floating.
Gotta love plants like that.
My advice....limit your expectations. A lot of people think Co2 is the magic solution. When used correctly it is a excellent tool. When not...it can have disastrous effects.
I can tell you I have plants in 20 plus tanks....and only one has any form of algae(green hair) in it and its a pleco and guppy fry grow out tank. Can you say poop factory. That coupled with I do not vac it the way I should which is why I have the hair algae. The rest of the tanks including my main display have no algae to mention and none run on Co2. I tried it years ago with all the best equipt and at first all was going well ....or so I thought. I definitely did not use it correctly and then the problems started. All kinds of issues... Including killing off an entire tank to Co2 poisonings
I am not telling you this to dissuade you in any way. Just the opposite. Just want you to be aware of the potential problems so you may avoid them.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have
You think that's amazing? @Fish Folk and I have been communicating a bit. He has help me with quite a few questions about breeding I had. Helped me a lot!. Well evidently that interaction was all that was needed....I found out yesterday....I WAS PREGNANT.....Crazy Right😱
