  1. I just ordered this one on Amazon. It will be here on Friday. Hoping it works. Till then I guess I will keep a look out and keep plucking the ones I find. Will also make my own once I get a chance this weekend. Might need one with bigger holes .
  2. This was the adult I found. Got rid of this one. And today I pulled out 10 small ones. Used plant tweezers and pour salt on them. Will check for more in the A.M.
  3. Hello to all.. So I had left the hobby for awhile. Once pandemic hit, I saw a few of Cory's videos and I was hooked. Dusted my 10g and got it running. Then I ended up with 2 more tanks. So now I have 10g,20g,36g. Then 10 and 20 are doing great. Had a issue with BBA but with timing the lighting right and manual cleaning and the addition of SAE . Everything is going well. Not even going to talk about how I ended up with a bunch of oto fry in the 36g. So the 36 has been on hold until the fry get bigger. So now that their finally a good size to add fish. I noticed leeches. Like 6 of themπŸ˜”. Now I have to deal with a leech infestation. Yes I know some of you are ok with this because you aim to mimic the eco system. But i just want to sit and watch my fish enjoy their home. Leeches are ugly and I don't like them. Plus I plan on breeding . Dont need the leeches to have a buffet of fry. I know I might have to tear the tank down. But how the heck will I catch all those otos in a planted tank. Do I throw all the plants out and nuke the tank. I don't even know if I'm asking a question. Lol. What else will go wrong.
  4. I have Aqueon 200 watt heaters in all my tanks . Bought on Amazon.
  5. Just chiming in about Otos. You can definitely keep otos successfully. I have Otos and they gave me fry. Fry was raised with algae but they also eat resphasy super green, Cucumber, Zucchini, green beans. I read a few people say once there's no algae, the otos starve. I think maybe that was true in the beginning but I think they have adapted. And I have a 38g with atleast 30 of them.(Not on purpose )Cant be much algae left . Not even counting the snails i have as well. And there all healthy and eating.
  6. Found a Leech (i think). Lights came on and this ugly thing was on my glass. Its gone now.
  7. I boil it and use a sponge with the brillo pad on one side . After boiling it, i use the brillo side of the sponge to scrub some of the loose particles off. I haven't had any issues.
  8. My 10g is QT Tank. Got some Serpae Tetras in there for a couple weeks now. Was told they were peaceful. But I was lied to. Lol but I love watching them be lil a**holes to each other. Next week they will be added to the 20g long with a few more of there cousins. I only bought these to save some Harlequin Rasboras . They were super white because the Serpaes were chasing them around the tank. Told them that was a mistake and bought the 5 serpae tetras to save the tank full of Harlequin from stress.
  9. I've gone Aquarium Co op crazy. Lol. Waiting for the new stickers. Gotta find a spot for the extras.
  10. Thank you..Yea I've been doing some window shopping and I don't know which ones to choose. Their all cool looking lol
  11. Update: So this is how the Tank is looking. Plants definitely grew. Oto fry getting big enough to where I can add some fish. I showed my wife the Guppies from Twin City Guppies and she fell in love with a few. So i guess I'm adding Guppies. Had to trim my Water Sprite. Its taking over the tank.
  12. I put a lil bit of water in a small plastic container, put in microwave for 30 sec to a 1min. Take out once done and i let the Spinach sit in the hot water for 2 min. Let it cool off and it take a while before they notice its there. But after a hour or two, I always find a few on the the Spinach.
  13. Zucchini, Cucumber, Repashy Super Green , Spinach, and whatever Algae grows in the tank. There looking healthy. I cut slices of cucumber or zucchini and use the extra airline holder suction cups. Push the cucumber on and place on the side of the glass. Spinach i just stick the stem in the gravel . Not all at once. I switch it up every other day. I usually leave it in for 24hrs. Then I remove before it makes a mess.
  14. I completely understand. I left the hobby for a few years. Clean my closet out and found my old 10 gallon. Decided to set it up. 3 weeks later. I buy a used 36 gallon. 3 weeks later, I have a 20 gallon. The fun part is setting it up. 10 g and 20 g are up and running and going great. But the 36 gallon turned into a fry tank. Put 4 Otos in there to clean up. Couple weeks later there was fry all over. So I guess until they grow a bit. I have a 36 gallon with only otos. But gives me time to decide what fish to add in the future. But yes I completely understand, 3 running tanks in just over 2 months. Planning a koi pond next. πŸ˜‚ Gotta stop watching the Pong Guy on YouTube.
  15. This is awesome. Wish I had this type of creativity. But to high tech for me. Mess around and electrocute myself lol. But I've bought a few clear soap dishes with suction cups. I place soap dish right under the filter where the water comes out of. So far it working. My Oto fry are able to swim back in fourth with ease. And you can place a coarse sponge in the dish for extra surface area. Which i show in one of the pics.
  16. Got lucky with Otos as well. Had about 40 fry all over my glass. But I only see about 20 now actively swimming. I followed Dean's advice and so far so good. They seem happy. The last pic is when I first notice these little transparent things on my glass. The other 2 pics was today about a week and half old now.
  17. What up fellas.. hope everyone is well. Just a quick update. Added more plants. Still have a few crypts wendti and a couple of scarlet temples to add but their still in QT. Add some red to all that green. I put a few otos in their to get control of the algae. And because I noticed one gained weight. So I wanted to make sure she wasn't around the Serpae tetras when she laid the eggs. Like2 weeks go by and I thought I had a bunch of worms on my glass. Took a closer look. And its oto fry. Counted like 23 so far. Temps at 76 , PH is 7.4 , nitrates at 3ppm ,nitrites are at .5 ppm. Doing water changes 3 to 4 times a day ,about 15% percent each time . To keep the nitrates and nitrites low. Scary to do water changes with the fry in there. Gotta watch that I don't suck any up. But so far , its been ok. Still waiting on my background.
  18. Fat Otto or Pregnant? Hmmm..Β

  19. Will do.. I've ordered a background. And I have more plants. But there in quarantine. Will soon be added. Thanks for the suggestions.
  20. Thank you. I think their detritus worms as well. From what I see flat worms walk across glass and gravel. The worms I see do more of earthworm movement. Thanks tho. About to do a water change and clean up the gravel some .
