This is how my cats look when one's about to tackle the other.  They give each other the staredown and then one shakes their butt and POUNCE!

Well, at least it's not a cracked tank.  🙂

Congrats on magenta babies!  Again!  😂

And boooo on those assassin snails.  But they are just doing what they do, I guess.  Are you going to put babies, or assassins, into a breeder box to keep the babies safe?

I moved the babies in with the big magentas and Spixii snails in the shrimp tank. Of course I can’t knowingly let the babies get eaten.

Took a moment break from a project I’m working on to learn how to sex GBR. I now can understand what I’m seeing behavior wise. The two that keep sparing so much are boys. The three smaller ones have big pink bellies and are girls. 🥰

Some fun stuff.
Remember  Ziff in the least killi tank?  He is finally starting to grow his tail. For my group that is normal. They finish forming the body shape before their tail grows. They all grow up to look just like the adults so I think it’s normal 🤷‍♀️50261D80-E79F-4ABE-B58C-A8DF48AF75C7.jpeg.b427d44bd006e0343f2d99cfcabca3ea.jpeg

I wonder if @nabokovfan87's cories grew the tail later as well?

No. it's usually a sign of issues, ammonia burn or some sort of illness?  It might be a thing where it's a morph or genetic trait as mentioned because they are "whale tail" or something?  That's new to me....  Here's mine.

Yours are much older than Ziff. Ziff is only a few weeks old. Every group of panda fry in every tank they are in grow this way to start. Ziff is just passing fry stage. All his older siblings start this way. When they grow to the size of yours they have completely normal tails.
I was talking with @Torreyabout this and many types of fish develop this way.
mine are all raised in well established tanks with no ammonia etc issues and other fry.

I totally understand. I wouldn't imagine any issues with your water at all.  I have seen some fish lose fins as a result of "something" being off, but I don't remember and can only think of ammonia being the cause.  I am sure someone much smarter than me can explain why, but I think it's the type of tissue where the fins deteriorating is a sign of something specific, usually.

But yeah, It's super interesting stuff.  I didn't know fish develop that way, so cool, learned something new 🙂.

The first photo is the black cory I had. I don't know where, but I am sure I have a photo of some smaller pandas.  That one shown is just the smallest I have to share.  The ones I've seen have always had a normal tail.

Ok ok 3 deep breaths to calm down.

The smaller male who is most dominant and the larger female are both guarding them in the territory they staked out. Those eggs might have been there yesterday because neither left the corner. I did not look until today after watching an MDFISHTANKS Video of electric blue acaras spawning on a leaf 2 days after they went in a new tank.

According to my poorly executed and hasty internet search, the female will eat the fry.

Hmmm. I haven’t researched fry at all. I’m still trying to figure out these fish. I’m gonna have to do some research if nothing else I’m gonna drop them in the funny tank that was the QT. But if they spawned they will spawn again I hope so maybe I’ll let this batch go to see what happens just so I can learn I don’t know. I’m so excited right now I can’t even think.🤣

I think the KeepingFishSimple has done a video on this on YouTube, if that helps.

@TheSwissAquarist my understanding is the first spawn is usually not fertile. It was doing great and I was feeding at intervals throughout the day to keep them full so they did not eat the eggs.
I fell asleep on the recliner yesterday before sunup and did not wake up until an hour and a half after sunup. So hungry fish alone with eggs. No more eggs.

This is fine. I’m not a breed for profit and I don’t have s setup to raise hundreds of them. I will eventually get a few fry that survive or I will pull a few eggs to get my few fry to raise and learn about.

Found this panda fry hitchhiker in the piano snail tank. I added more pothos from the panda tank last week.

He is new hatched. The back half of the body still looks like a tadpole.
