ChemBob
@eatyourpeas do most of the critters eat the veggies? Curious if you are feeding a prepared diet, or frozen foods? You may have said earlier, but I don't remember. Too many awesome pictures distracted me!

Curious if you are feeding a prepared diet, or frozen foods? You may have said earlier, but I don't remember. Too many awesome pictures distracted me! So far, the obvious herbivores are the Kelp crabs, and even they will eat anything when hungry. One is just sitting there after hours of enjoying the new kelp, so I think he is experiencing a bit of Kelp coma. On the smaller critter scale, the pods love plants, and the sculpins love the pods. The anemones eat fresh clams or frozen carnivore foods (krill, mysis and brine shrimp, rotifers, plankton mix). All others seem to be omnivores. The biggest motivation for getting lots of macro algae has been oxygenation since I am running a photosynthetic environment. I am also trying to provide plenty of surface for the bacteria/archaea to process nitrates in the tank. I have no proof that the macros are consuming enough ammonia, but the water is starting to clear up, finally. This is still a learning experience, and by reef standards, a very low-tech tank. To get back to your question, I have found a variety of foods is always good, and I am still trying to figure out the right amount. I have been able to go four days without feeding and everyone seems fine except Ursula Flerken, her sulking is usually followed by grabbing the first moving thing that crosses her path, so I try to keep her well fed by giving her something meaty every other day.

eatyourpeas
Mostly for my own records, this is the tank today. Hungry crabs have pretty much eaten most of the kelp in about two weeks: 4

Does not last long with those crabs, though. And this is why they are called Kelp crabs! Ate half of the bulb after finishing all the leaves (view from above is not an avocado). Leave me alone, I am meditating (food coma). I promise to take care of you, my dear friend! @Biotope Biologist's little toddler is growing up! eatyourpeas
This little guy used to be under a shell and then disappeared. Now he is out, and larger, so he must have molted! @Guppysnail, meet your grandcrabby Guacamole! 🦀 Lost power yesterday late afternoon and the most curious thing happened. The pump stopped so there was no flow in the tank, and all the anemones closed up! Except Ursula Flerken, that is. She rose above the sand by about two inches! Other than that, the outage did not last long enough to pose a temperature issue. 🙃 5
