She has no mercy, for the fish inhabitants or for us. 😟 I have been trying to learn more about the Urticina species, but there is very little. I think Ursula Flerken is close to full size. I am glad I have her in the tank, as she is a good teacher, albeit a painful one.

Any excuse to get out to the water! I am not aware of much salmon on our island, as most of the FW I see is suburban runoff. 😝 My cousin is living on one of the Puget Sound islands, only accessible by fairy. Now I don't remember which one 🤦♂️ I only remember it was faster to visit when my friend could boat us out, than driving to the ferry from B'ham

Need to get a better picture of it, but guess who kept getting in front of it! Unfortunately today, my favorite photobomber is no more. While I was feeding Ursula Flerken he tried to steal her food, and instead became it. She was waaaay faster! I'm usually pretty good with the natural cycles of life, but I had really grown attached to your little photo bomber😔 Ursula Flerken is not to be blamed, I know she was simply acting on her instincts....

Oh, I know! Ursula Flerken does what Ursula Flerken was born to do. I was just taken aback by how fast it happened! That tank is always full of surprises. Critters disappear, new ones appear, and all I do is change water and feed. 😵

eatyourpeas
Today I found a little surprise in the tank: PPL! (Short for Petite Pipi Longstockings) . It took me a while to even see her, she is teeny! Less than 10mm from tip to tip of body and shell. And this is a size reference. She is in the bottom right corner of the picture: Then later on she moved houses. Moving is stressful, even for a little hermit! eatyourpeas
Not sure I have a disaster in my hands, but as I was changing the socks in the v-sump I discovered that the nano air pump had fallen in, and was not only dysfunctional (of course!) but rusted. I have not noticed any unusual behavior except for Ursula Flerken, who has pretty much retreated all day long and if a tentacle comes out at all, it looks thin and brown. I did a water change, tested parameters, but do not have a specific "metal detector" for high concentrations of Fe in the water. I am hoping for the best and would love to wake up tomorrow to a normal Ursula Flerken wreaking her usual havoc in the tank. Kids: always check the hook on the nano air pump!

I don't know if Prime can be used in saltwater, but I **do** know it binds heavy metals in the water column so they can be removed.

Thank you, @Torrey. I ended up putting half a sheet of Poly-Filter in the sump. Everyone seems to be doing well this morning and Jeena molted! I caught The Acrobat eating at the molt and panicked until I saw her hugeness hanging upside down in the sponge above. eatyourpeas
Just caught Jeena resting on the spray bar waiting for her shell to harden. She is definitely bigger than my hand now. I did not want to move the light and spook her, but her mighty size can still be seen under it.
eatyourpeas
Things that go bump in the night! Lights not on yet, and I noticed Ursula Flerken a lot taller than usual. Upon closer inspection, oh dear! Jeena's leg appears to be inside Ursula Flerken. Come night vision and I try to see what is going on: Tank light finally starts turning on and I see Jeena has freed herself from Ursula Flerken's grasp. Crippled Jeena, that is. She came out minus one leg and a brand new claw on the left side. Will need to wait for a better angle, but they are definitely missing! The face of satisfaction! 1

eatyourpeas
Assessing the damage with better light. She is still in the corner nursing her wounds, but I also noticed her right front leg took a beating. It shows that her shell probably wasn't fully hardened, and Ursula Flerken tried to take that one off as well. It looks like a corroded pipe. 🤕 On 10/14/2021 at 9:24 AM, Guppysnail said: Physical beauty is so fleeting. Poor Jenna. Ursula Flerken strikes again. Her hunger is limitless.
