I bought 10 shrimp about 6 months ago wanting to start a colony. Now there are around 100 and I am ready to move some of them to my office tank 35 miles away. I've made sure the water is the same (ro with salty shrimp) . I have never "netted" shrimp before. Is there anything special to look out for or do I just scoop them up and move them like fish?

I have one of these. Didn't like the filter set up so I removed the interior wall and dropped a small sponge in it. Just growing a few plants now but its going into my office once a few of these cherries grow a bit. Also I am experimenting with hair algae to see if it could be a useful plant. The blob here is what has taken over a little moss square.

The other thing to consider that in a 10 gallon tank that is quite a few fish to add at once.

Seachem makes a Digital Spoon Scale Aquarium Supplement Dosing Tool. Works well for me. Most of the meds give a weight to use.

I have one of those in another tank. Its one of my favorites so if this is similar I'll be happy.

This was given to me as a mystery bulb. This is 3 weeks after planting. I have no idea what it is. Ideas???

Ive treated with salt 1tbs per 2 gallons. Ive treated with paracyn in case it was a parasite. Cant hurt to treat with maracyn i suppose but is sure looks like this virus that these types of fish get at a 30% rate.

I think this may be dwarf gourami iridovirus. I've quit feeding and now he's just hanging out at the bottom of the tank. Thought maybe a parasite but more and more i think its genetic. Its built up over a few months. If his scales start to expand I will have to euthanize him. I really like this particular fish too. 😪

I did that. It just wasn't completely dissolved. Hard for me to see the little clear crystals. He seems to be OK for now,

My dwarf gourami has a few little nicks in his scales plus he's getting fat eating before my other fish so I put him in quarentine. When I added the salt it was not all dissolved and it looks like he ate a small piece as it was falling through the water. Anything to be concerned about with him eating it? Im at 4 tbs per 10 gallons right now to try to heal him. Haven't fed for 2 days. Was thinking about feeding a pea tomorrow. Haven't seen any poo in the 3 days hes been in quarentine.

For me this is like asking which kid do I love more. Not really answerable. Maybe I am still at the I can put a bin of water in my home and sustain some really incredible life stage.

I had plenty on usb pumps on sponge filters so filtration wasn't aconcern for me but temp was. Especially since my main house heater quit as well. We get 25 or so mins of power every few hours so I ended putting extra heaters in 4 tanks and a little space heater on the shrimp. That got me by until the furnace was fixed yesterday. So far there haven't been any deaths thst ai can see. As long as we continue to get the little power we are getting it should be good. My longest outage was 16 hrs.

Good news is I now have heat. 25 minutes every 2 to 3 hours. Ive added all my extra tank heaters to the tanks with fish and all are back above 70. Crisis averted.

Please be very careful with the snakeheads. They are invasive and if they get into the wild its bad. Probably why they are not legal to keep in the US. They have over run much of Florida taking out many of he native fish. They spread like wildfire.

We are in justin. Cherry Shrimp. Tri cories dwarf gourami neon tetras siamese algae eaters guppies rasborras various snails and 1 betta this last go around the main tank came up 2 degrees. The cherrybshrimp are at 64.4 now. I finally get some babies and this happens. Ug.

We lost power for 16 hrs. In single figit temps. We are not used to this here. I have batteries for filters but not heaters and we are only getting 30 mins every 3 hours now for power due to rolling blackouts. My tanks are all around 60 now. I have put a spare 300w in the 36 to try to heat it when we do have power. How low can the temp go before I start seeing my fish and shrimp die??

Another tiny one

I have decided that the hob on my shrimp tank causes more flow than I would like. I've unplugged it and just left the medium sponge filter going. The hob has some ceramic in it for bio. Should i drop tbat bag into the tank or just leave it and let the sponge do its thing. There has been both the sponge and the hob on for about 5 months. Only thing in tbe tank are about 15 cherry shrimp and some snails.

Didn't feed for days., then hand fed a little. Treated with maracyn and aquarium salt. After this last bought he finally succumbed. RIP little one. You have left me hundreds off offspring to continue your line.

So I did find article that say shrimp can't get ich. The only thing in this tank are the shrimp and a few snails. I have ichx guess ill try that
