  1. LOL I just now saw today’s video on the More Aquarium Co-Op YouTube channel. Very timely! Not exactly my issue but still funny. Love Irene!
  2. Thanks all. I will try fiddling with the knob and the air stones too.
  3. I've been running an Aqua Top 100 air pump since January. Last night it started making a new noise that sounds kind of like a fluttering or warbling sound. Has anyone else encountered this? Could the air pump be defective? Thanks.
  4. I accidentally got a lot of unhatched brine shrimp eggs mixed in with the baby brine shrimp I fed to my fish. Should I be worried that my fish are going to get sick? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi. I'm not sure if this topic should go here or in the Fish Breeding section so if this is not the right place admins please feel free to move it. Here are my BBS questions: The directions on the Co-Op site say to use 1 tablespoon of salt per liter of water. I have always used 1 2/3 tablespoons per liter. Do the Co-Op eggs have different salinity requirements than other eggs? I'm a bit confused about the packaging. Do I dump the eggs from the zip lock pouch into the canister? Do I toss the canister and keep the eggs in the pouch? Do I toss the metal lid of the canister and use only the plastic lid? Thanks!
  6. I think 0.25 ppm ammonia is not a cycled tank
  7. You can try a nice big school of Cyprichromis
  8. Does anyone here have any experience with the Eheim or Fluval battery powered gravel vacs? I'm thinking about getting one or the other for spot cleaning in between water changes but they're kind of expensive. Are they any good on sand substrates? Thanks!

    Torn Fins

I tried to take a picture several times but none of them came out. It doesn't look like fin rot, just a gap between two rays on the dorsal fin.

    Torn Fins

Not really a disease, but how do you treat torn fins? The Co-Op doesn't sell any stress guard or slime coat products so I'm wondering what you all use. Thanks!
  11. Scraped the algae off the glass, vacuumed the sand and ~ 30% water change
  12. Hi everyone. I'm thinking about starting some live food cultures like daphnia, scuds and copepods but I'm worried about buying a starter group that has parasites or other nasties mixed in. Can anyone recommend reputable sources of "clean" starters? (I checked the forum rules and I don't think this type of post is not permitted but if it is mods and admins feel free to remove it.) Thanks!
  13. Sometimes the poops will have in them bright, shiny things that I can't identify. To me they look like small air bubbles. Is it possible that the fish are swallowing air when they feed at the surface and these are bubbles making their way through the guts?
  14. Hi. I have a sand substrate and a lot of rocks in my Tanganyikan 55 gallon tank. I'm looking for recommendations for a gravel vacuum or similar which has a thin enough end to reach into spaces between rocks. Thanks in advance.
  15. Colu, would you do another course of ParaCleanse using the directions on the box or the Aquarium Co-Op directions? Thanks.
  16. Thanks quikv6. I'm not aware of any cycle issues in the tank but to be honest I use API test strips which don't test for ammonia. For what it's worth I tested today and nitrite = 0, nitrate = 20 ppm.
  17. Hi Everyone. I finished my second round of ParaCleanse as directed on the box and my fish still have these crazy long feces. Today (Friday) was the first day after the 25% water change and the first day I fed them since last Saturday. I fed very lightly. I'm sorry the pictures did not come out clearly but I think you can see the length of the fecal matter in the female Cyprichromis and the thickness of the fecal matter in the yellow-tailed male. The one coming out of the male was actually as least as long as the one coming out of the female but it broke right before I took the pictures. Should I do another round of ParaCleanse or switch to another medication like levamisole (Fritz Expel-P) or flubendazole? Maybe this isn't a parasite at all? Thanks!

    Paracleanse Method

I get that but I think the Paracleanse did not kill all the live worms in my fish's gut. Is that typical? Does it take a couple days after the treatment before the stringy poop stops? Thanks again.
  19. I’ve completed my first round of Paracleanse according to the directions on the box. Yesterday was day five and I did the 25% water change. Corey says to wait two weeks before starting the next round but since one of my fish still has long stringy poop I’m wondering if it would be safe to start the next round after one week. Thanks.
